The familiar rush of adrenaline surged through me as my blade sliced cleanly through Bennett’s neck, his lifeless head hitting the ground with a dull thud.I ignored the familiar throbbing headache that always followed the death of a pack member. Soon, the pain would worsen, crawling through my skull as the adrenaline faded, but it was worth it. Right now, only one thing mattered: the thrill of putting yet another rebellious pack member in his place.Clapping my hands, I let the sound echo through the tense silence. As usual, I ignored the glares, looks of disgust, and stoic expressions. They didn't affect me and never would, no matter how much effort was involved. “Anyone else care to join him? I’ll make your death swift—I promise.”But before the pack could react, a familiar voice cut in. “Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Mara.”"Don't call me that," I sneered, finding Joe—my father’s mateless brother and the last person I wanted to see—pushing through the throng of pack members.

Cold. That’s what the rogue's eyes had left me feeling—cold and stripped bare. Ever since he'd opened them, I couldn’t shake the unnatural clarity in those blank, colorless irises. There was no shade, no light, only an endless gray like mist over a barren field. It was terrifying and…utterly enthralling. Each time his gaze shifted, I caught hints of some deeper struggle within him, flashes of purple that came and went, like tiny fissures on the surface of calm water. I told myself it was only his inner turmoil spilling through, but even now, his image haunted me, leaving me feeling raw and exposed. The harder I tried to ignore the rogue's stare, the more it lingered, stoking a heat that tore at my self-control. I’d tried everything—cold showers, open windows, even braving the biting night air. It was pointless; nothing could douse the fire that had ignited from that one look.I barely made it through the pack's nightly rituals without slipping, knowing the pull was so dangerously close

"Alpha, he has spoken."The words jolted me upright, shattering my thoughts as I glanced up from the heap of folders spread across my desk. I kept my tone measured, not wanting to show just how badly I wanted answers. "Really? And what did he say?"Bradley looked anywhere else but at me. His hesitancy was palpable, his fingers tapping against his wrist in a small, nervous rhythm. “Not much.”The words stirred something in me—‘not much’ could mean anything from defiance to submission, yet here we were still dancing around half-truths. But I let it slide for now. I needed Bradley on my side, not intimidated or cowed. He was, after all, the last in Beckett’s line, and I needed someone I could trust, at least until I knew more about the rogue."Bradley," I said, clearing a pile of stray papers off the desk in irritation, "do you have a mirror?"His expression betrayed a flicker of surprise, quickly replaced by polite professionalism. "No, Alpha, but I can get one for you.""And disappear f

My heart is wounded, but not broken.Whatever little dignity I had left had dissolved the moment a human stepped into my pack. The sight of her—a fragile, unwitting human—as my mate felt like a betrayal. A bitter twist of fate. I stare down at my half-shifted claws and the rough fur that’s started to sprout along my arms. The very air around me smells of her, and the scent pushes me to the edge of my control. My wolf claws from within, impatient and insatiable, desperate to claim her, but I bite down on the urge, fighting for control.I step back, isolating myself from my pack, from everyone who could see the raw torment I feel. My mind is chaos, a violent surge of confusion and resentment. I want her—my mate—but she is human, soft and untested in the world of wolves. The thought of her sends my mind into overdrive, my wolf’s snarls echoing, and his desire to stake our claim takes over every rational thought. The mating bond is already scraping its claws against my willpower, urging me

I don't like being told what to do. Bradley had told me the truth, but I didn't listen, just because I didn't like hearing the truth. As bitter as his words were, it was also the truth. Shame washes over me like a wave and I keep asking the goddess for forgiveness. I marked my mate last night. You can see the mark on her neck. It's scary, what I have done, and despite the shame and guilt I felt for my actions, there was also this feeling of happiness knowing that I have a claim on her. She was upset when she found out, and Lyles was forced to cheer her up. Nothing was hidden under the sun anymore. She knows everything, knows us for who we truly her, hates us and it is all my fault. But that isn't the reigning news in the rumour mill. Rumour has it that Alpha Davidson had scragged his mate just to be with me. They said she was tortured before death, but I don't believe it. That is why I am dressing up to confirm the truth myself. A knock is heard on the door. I zip up before sayin

My mind is blank, my body is cold and my heart is broken. I did what I thought was right and let her go. Lyles has left the pack, and whatever Bradley said made no sense to me.Whatever he says or do can't mend my broken heart. She burnt my mark, I broke the bond and I am the only one suffering, while she gets to live a fulfilled life. And me in my utmost stupidity violates the laws of the land by letting a prisoner go without justice being served.I let Sia go. There was no use keeping him here, and the worst thing? The bastard refused to leave, taking care of the pack that I had abandoned. If not for Bradley and his words of wisdom, I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from stepping down. The pack has welcomed Sia warmly and I hae a feeling it is because he is an Icelander.'Nothing is going to make her come back. So the sooner you get up and start acting like an alpha, the better for you and the pack".I sniff. "What are you still doing in my pack? Shouldn't you have left like a

"It was Davidson right?""The bite wasn't too deep. Your skin is a little burnt, by tomorrow you will be fine"."It was Davidson right?" I ask again, reaching up to feel my bandaged neck. I don't remember much after I was bitten, but I know I have been in pain since the incident. Something tells me it is because Sia has already marked me with his stuff, but Lyles says it is because his bite was venomous."Tell me something Crinka, you have been with him for years. You saw the bite yourself. Does his mark look like this?""I don't know". I say ashamed. "He has never really bitten me before. An attempt, but nothing more than that"."Exactly. So let's just assume it was not Davidson".I will ask Sia instead since Lyles is of no help. "Since you won't admit it was Davidson, tell me Lyles, who saved me?""Ask border patrol. How does it feel letting your pack members see you naked?"."Shut up," I say slapping his arm. I am surprised I can even do that. "That sounds so wrong coming out of you

"Do you have any idea what you have just done?" he yells, before thrusting a finger to Bradley. "And you! How could you let her accept it? I thought you were smarter than this Bradley, I didn't know you were just as dumb"."I just had ear surgery Lyles, all this yelling is making me sick".We are in the gym, and by we, I mean me, Bradley, Leo's mate, Lyles, Lukas and Sia who just walked in. Apparently, everybody is getting their ears bitten off by Lyles. His yelling these days is getting out of hand, and I think it is something serious. I'd talk to him about it, maybe after the challenge, that is if I am still alive, not that I am planning on dying or anything, but the chances of me walking out of there alive is slim, given my current condition which I didn't give a second thought when I accepted the challenge."Give the poor guy a break Lyles. He is just a child".It is too late to tell Sia to stop talking. He talks fast when he wants to, and slow when he is mocking you. And he just m

Sleepy Joe was alpha, no scratch that,Sleepy Joe is alpha.Lyles couldn't believe it himself, but it was true. His father IS now alpha.Any well behaved son would be happy, proud even, but not Lyles. His father didn't deserve to be alpha, but winning the challenge, and killing his own niece proved otherwise. The pack wasn't interested in burying Crinka, no their self interest was celebrating their new alpha., The prisoner that Crinka had imprisoned were released, and Sleepy Joe demanded a new and better clubhouse. Was sure to cost a fortune, but Lyles knew, it wasn't going to matter, given his father was now alpha. It was really a great day for the pack, but not for Lyles. He had called the pack doctors in hopes of bringing her back, but none showed up. They were probably enjoying themselves at Sleepy Joe's coronation. So Lyles had done what he could. He removed up to five bullets, and had just pulled out the sixth one. He had cleaned her up and bandaged her wounds. She was as lifele

"Are you ever going to talk about us?"Lyles question is answered with foreboding silence and he wished he hadn't come here in the first place, but he needed to know where he stood with his mate. Now, he wonders if this was how Crinka felt with her mate."Us? I really don't know what you are talking about. To think you would disturb my breakfast to tell me something I know nothing about"."Your silence will send me to the grave Anita, all I need is an answer""And I said no. Is it so hard for you to comprehend Lyles? Things would have been easier if you didn't have to share me with Leo. Things would have been better if I met you first but I didn't"."Leo is dead Anita. Is this what you want? To be alone all your life?. If you are so hellbent on not having my mark on your shoulder, just give me ason and I will never bother you again""What do you think I am Lyles? A baby makin machine? Please I didn't let you in to get insulted. If you have nothing better to say please leave"."Anita,
