Chapter 31
Rocky was in a foul mood when he got back to the ballroom. “Have you seen Leigh? Adam Fowler had been looking for his date, but could not find her. He was worried. Seeing Adam Fowler aggravated Rocky’s foul mood. A niggling suspicion arose that the basketball captain had something to do with Leigh changing her mind about him. He looked sharply at Adam who looked good in the suit Kade bought with his money and seethed inside. “Am I her keeper? You are her date, you should know where she is.”Noting the scowl on Rocky’s face, Adam turned to leave and started scouring the crowded place for Leigh while Rocky was left on the empty table, not even the least bit concerned that Regina and her friend were nowhere around.A waiter passed by bearing a tray laden with cocktail drinks. He took two and finished them off one after the other. A few moments later, Regina Clark came back. He saw Rocky being liberal on his drinks. She decided to pour whiskey into his glass. “Where did you g

INSIDE THE CAR. “It’s hot,” Rocky growled. He took off his dress shirt, crumpled it, and threw it to the floor. As if that was not enough, he kicked off his shoes, leaving his black dress socks on.He was about to unbuckle his belt when he heard Arthur, his head bodyguard, order the driver. “I think he was drugged. Drive to the nearest convenience store. We need to hydrate him.” The driver hit on the gas right away, screeching to a halt when they reached a 7-11 store. One bodyguard walked out and returned with bottled water. “Sir, drink,” Arthur commanded.Rocky opened one eye and took a long swig, but Arthur yanked the bottle away from him. Its contents sloshed into Rocky’s body accidentally, but Rocky, in his semi-unconscious state, was unaware. “Don’t drink too fast. Drink slowly.” Arthur gently instructed. “He was sweating profusely.” The other bodyguard said. “I think we need to get him to the hospital.” “No! Where’s Leigh?” Rocky crawled to the gap between the b

Chapter 33
It was still dark when Rocky woke up from his sleep. This is the first time he felt content and at peace since they moved to Bay Bridge. He missed the feeling. White arms wrapped around his neck as he lay on his back, causing him to smile. This feeling of closeness felt right. Their bodies’ responses to each other have always been this explosive. It never changed. Even as the months passed. He wrapped his arms around Leigh’s body and drew her close to his chest. His heart was beating fast. A few moments later, he carefully rolled Leigh to the side so he could get up. He does not want Leigh to wake up and see him in her bed. A feeling of guilt rushed up to him. He broke his promise. He made love to her. And what is worse? He took advantage of her drunken state to do it. He pulled on his shirt and pants, checked the cabinets for Leigh’s nightgown, and went back to bed to carefully change her. Leigh was a deadweight when she was asleep, especially since she was so drunk la

Chapter 34
Sam ran out of Leigh’s room. She was hurrying back to her room to get her hands on her phone and call Rocky ASAP.Though Leigh had agreed to come out of the shadows and be the real Leigh Michaels, she could not persuade her best friend from leaving for Somerset. “She’s going home.” She told Rocky over the phone.“Stall her. Don’t let her leave my house. I am a few blocks away.” “Where have you been, Rocky?” Sam could not help but ask. She is becoming quite exasperated with the pair with their cat-and-mouse game. “I think you better stop hiding.” “I am not hiding.” Rocky’s abrupt reply came through the phone. “So what are you doing?” Sam demanded. “Err…”“What?” “I am trying to avoid temptation. Leigh is one big temptation.” Rocky admitted in a barely inaudible voice. Sam laughed. “You are a fool.” Sam breathed on the other line. Silence. There was tension after that. Sam realized that she said something she shouldn’t and caught her tongue. She knew what would come next

Chapter 35 - Sam was worried. She kept pacing the hallway, hoping the door to Leigh’s room would open anytime soon, but no such luck. It remained closed while she and Kade waited outside. “What is taking them so long?” She could not help but complain to her companion. Kade chuckled, not the least bit concerned. “Don’t ask.” He told her when his mirth subsided.Instead of assuring her, Kade's words had the opposite effect. Seeing, she won't get any help from her companion, Sam pressed her ears to the door, hoping to hear any sound, but she heard nothing. At first, there was shouting. It sounded like Rocky and Leigh were arguing, but now, there was silence, and Sam was becoming worried. She blamed herself. "I shouldn't have called Rocky," she lamented, but a quick look to her side told her she had spoken aloud. "Why do you have Rocky's number?" A doubtful look replaced Kade's previously indulgent look, his tone becoming suspicious. Sam backed away. Kade's question caugh

Chapter 36
“What is this?”  Aunt Evelyn bit out when she got the attention of the two people who were naked on the bed. Leigh gasped, while Rocky met his mom’s glare with a glare of his own. “Mom, Aunt Leslie, what are you doing here barging in on us?”   Rocky turned his and Leigh over so Leigh would end up fully covered with his body. Aunt Evelyn, aware of his son's temper, ignored his indignant tone. She walked until she reached the foot of the bed and bent to pick up something on the floor. When she waved it in the air,  Leigh realized it was her comforter. Aunt Evelyn covered her son's naked butt, her face wrinkling in distaste.  Her mom, on the other hand, had her face averted, but the pink stain in her cheeks was quite telling. "You're not a porn star, Rocky." Aunt Evelyn’s thundering voice caught Leigh’s attention once agai

Leigh froze.  She did not know what to do. In all honesty, she was flummoxed by this turn of events.  Their families had been talking about this for years - grew up with this thought in mind, but that was in the far future.  Not now!Leigh’s body shook just thinking about it happening in the next few days.  They are getting married. Her breathing quickened and slowed at the thought. Then, it picked up and slowed once more. She felt excitement rushing through her veins while at the same time, she felt an unexplainable dread. She did not understand herself anymore. She wanted this and now that it was right in front of her it scared her sh*tless!  She thought about what this meant to Rocky and her mind drowned with too many unanswered questions. What about Regina?  That question was foremost on her mind.  Leigh shook her head in incredulity. Her parents are

Today is her wedding day.“Rise and shine, our beautiful bride.  The groom is waiting.” Aunt Evelyn and Leigh’s mom announced in a sing-song voice while they opened the brocade curtain allowing the sunbeams to slant through the window and reach her face. Groaning, Leigh opened one eye and shut it back quickly when the sun's rays hit her.  She was still sleepy. Even under the haze of sleep, she blames Rocky for the sleeplessness, recalling what he did last night. Rocky insisted on sleeping beside her and was adamant when she suggested they sleep separately, claiming they needed the practice. She relented as usual and let Rocky have his way, but they did not get to sleep until the wee hours. At the reminder, warmth spreads through her cheek.  She turned to her side, ready to hit him, surprised she did not find him there. “Where is Rocky?” Th

Chapter 39
"Adam! Adam! Wait!" Leigh called right after she saw Adam jump out of his seat right after Mr. Wicker's class. He ignored her, prompting her to chase after him. “Adam!” She called, right hand raised. Exasperated, Leigh put her hands down to her sides, seeing she's only getting other people's attention but not the one she wanted to attract the attention of. Thinking she would get much better results, she run after Adam, ignoring Sam's call behind her. Because he is an athlete with an agile body and long legs, Adam moved way too fast for her, leaving a good distance between them. He jogged outside the building, crossing the track field, but he was no match for a determined person like her. Even if it looked unladylike, she sprinted, not caring how she looked with her hair flying and her jacket flapping in the wind. She had to catch him. In the middle of the track, a group of practicing runners stopped blocking his path. Adam was forced to stop, giving Leigh the chance to cat

Chapter 40
When Leigh got her bearing, she started struggling until her captor stopped. Angrily, she turned her head around to confront whoever it was that had the gall to snatch her away, surprised to see her best friend behind her. “Where have you been?” Sam asked, looking frantic.Dragging Leigh away from her next class’s building, she brought them back to their dormitory which somehow surprised Leigh. “What the h*ll, Sam? What are you doing?” Leigh struggled from Sam’s hold, twisting her arm around, trying to free her arm from Sam’s grasp, but her friend was unusually strong. Leigh could not pry her arm away. She gave up. She stopped struggling and let Sam take her wherever. Sam temporarily released her arm to get her keys to open their room before she gestured for Leigh to get in. Leigh grudgingly did. She strode inside and clambered up her unmade bed to sulk. Sam joined her. She, too, jumped on the bed, asking. “Where were you? I have been looking everywhere for you.” The
