David Beckham
Nora was lying down on her bed. Her hair was scattered on the sheets and her eyes were heavy from tears. It was 3p.m. in the afternoon, and yet she hasn't climbed out of the bed since she woke up that morning. Her heart was heavy, she was angry and depressed. Diving that man had probably been the worst decision she had made in her life. Not only had she lost her job, she has also lost the chance of getting the money she needed for flying out of the country to a place no one would find her. She picked her phone on the bed, then she opened it and went to her gallery. Tears of pain filled her eyes as she opened the picture of her father. He was smiling, his dimples shone in his face where he had the tattoo of a small scorpion; he also had green innocent eyes—just like hers. Nora cried as she looked at the picture and thought of him. If only her father had been innocent like his eyes, maybe he would still be alive today. There was a sudden knock on the door. Nora knew it was Cath

Friends with benefits
(Last chapter's continuation) “He is?“ asked Nora with a voice filled with disbelief. “I am?“ asked David. “Yes! He's that guy I told you about, Nora. He had the lead role in the “Ten days in hell” movie.“ Nora looked at the man before him, like she could hardly believe what she was hearing. She and David were very close for such a long time. How come she never knew he was an actor? “Is this true, David?“ Nora managed, not knowing what else to say. David nodded as his reply, adjusting his tie like it was just starting to choke him. And for the first time, Nora noticed that he was wearing an actual suit—not the pencil-jeans and T-shirt he always wore when they were still… Catherine was practically jumping in excitement. “How come a person as rich and famous as you is in a North Hollywood bar of all places? What happened to the real celebrity cities like Los Angeles and New York?“ “I—” “We need to leave right now, Cat,” Nora suddenly said, not giving “David Beckham” a ch

Get out!
It was Monday at last, a sunny and busy day that promised success and a happy ending. Alvin was at the fitness side of his company. He was doing the gym with headphones on his ears. It was one of the private facilities in the building, allowed to only him and sometimes to assistant CEO Victor. Alvin's face was filled with sweat as he worked out his hatred against life. The headphone was blasting his ears with loud pop songs and he was starting to feel out of the world again. The threadmill was at it's fastness, and Alvin kept going even though he was starting to get tired. His thoughts went back to the green-eyed girl once again, and he was soon starting to regret never asking her for her name. But she seemed to be familiar with that place where she saved him—so he might be lucky enough to see her again if he goes back there. As Alvin was contemplating it, he soon losed concentration and ended up slipping off the threadmill. He landed on his back on the floor, his arm and legs

If she ever succeeds
Nora was walking around the sitting room of her apartment, her hands folded on her chest like she was pondering something very important. The house and surroundings were quiet, since their closest neighbours were some feets away from them; and they had all gone to their working place. Nora picked her phone from the table in front of her, and let-out a grunt when she saw that her email was empty. None of the companies she applied to had accepted her. Nora sincerely didn't know what department she wanted to work in. She did go to school, but it was barely before graduating that she was swept back into the web of her father's mafia family situations. Not that she cared, though. She would gladly accept if she got a job as a cleaner, nanny or even a cooking staff—as long as the job would fetch her a little more money to add to the one she had saved so she could fly out of the country and start an entirely new life. Nora slumped down to a chair in the living room, her eyes spinning

Rogue cops
Raven was panting, scattering everything that was in his way. He had a very angry expression on his face and a cigarette burning in his mouth. Jordan was trying to calm him down, but he wasn't showing any signs of wanting to calm down soon. “I can't believe I was knocked out by one of my stepbrothers. Where the f*ck were you all?“ yelled Raven. “We did succeed in saving you at last. I don't know why you're making the situation complex!“ said Jayden. They were in Gomez Waxson's house, doing drugs as they looked at the angry Raven before them. The house was a large mansion with up to eighty rooms. It was built in a very private and protected estate in California, and only the rotten-rich could afford to own and maintain a house there. All the members of the Scorpion Mafia family were complete. They were some guarding the gates, some arranging and packaging cocaine and marijuana they were going to sell, some reloading the firearms and guns, some cooking and some doing many other

Crazy coincidence
Nora hit her feet on the tiled ground as she looked at the tall building before her. She clutched her bag to herself, breathing in and out. She was about to resume doing what she had vowed to stop. And she wasn't very happy about it. Her heart was heavy, like it had tripled and the weight was soon going to overcome her. “I disciplined myself for this. Why can't I muster the courage to go in now?“ she asked herself. Before her was the Madrin Company, one that produced expensive snacks and beverages. Nora had been informed by an agent from her email that the Company's CEO recently fired the secretary; and her sole purpose of coming here was to apply for the job and see if they'll take her. Nora weighed the ups and downs of working there. The ups are: Good salary, maximum protection and chances of meeting big people in the business world. And the cons are: Lots of paperwork, the Company's location was too far from where she lived, no career growth, and zero respect from the CEO.

Daniel's gone
It was 6:30. The city of Los Angeles was busy and eventful as always. Alvin was in his father's Cadillac car. They were both in the back seat, driving to a place which Alvin guessed was the banana penthouse. The drive was silent and uneventful, and Alvin looked at the chauffeur's head as he drove—since he wanted to avoid his father's gaze at all costs. None of them has said a word since they left the interrogation room. And Alvin wanted to ask his father many questions but he was too scared to do so—like his asking would bring the harshness of reality to fall over him once again. The silence was slowly killing Alvin, twisting around his heart and soul like a boa constricting its prey. They had been driving for hours now, and still they hadn't arrived at their destination. Alvin was tempted to ask his father where they were heading to, but he didn't dare. He wanted to enjoy the peace and the silence a little longer before he faced his punishment. He looked outside through the w

Hot chase
Wednesday looked bright and promising—but not for Nora Waxson. She was walking beside the road with her phone in her hands and airpods in her ears. Her phone was playing slow pop music—the only thing that took her out of the world into a place she could control. She had a lot of things on her mind today, and didn't know how to shut down her thoughts and concentrate on the life ahead of her. Life? Nora chuckled as she thought of it. There was no life ahead of her. Raven was going to come for her sooner or later, and snatch whatever remains of her. A big question mark still hung in the air, though. Raven had claimed that he knew where she was—which meant that someone who she had given her email had sold her out. And the only person she remembered to have given her email to was Manager Thompson. If she was ever going to avoid being used as meat for Raven, she had to track and find the person who sold her out—which was Manager Thompson, by the way. But Nora still couldn't beli

Abducted
(Last chapter's continuation) Nora looked at David with shaken eyes, her features rigid and wavering at the same time. “What?“ David walked up to her, his expression unreadable as always. “Raven. Who is he… or her?“ “I owe you no explanation, asshole!“ Nora suddenly said before running out. Catherine ran after her, followed by David who did it in a more composed way. Nora was looking around, searching for a possible means of transport. The cops hadn't let her see her surroundings when they were taking her here—and she would have been more frustrated than ever if the station was not in North Hollywood. Catherine finally lost it. “Can you tell me what's happening, Nora? Or you've finally run mad?“ Nora shot her a glare that made her freeze. They had fought once, and Nora knew Catherine feared her more than death but was using her acting talent to hide it. “I came with my car,” David announced, walking up to Nora. “I know you don't have any money on you, babe. I can driv
