Mr. Ryan のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 11 - チャプター 20

KATEMy body froze. I thought I was going to vomit. My blood pressure must have been dropping. He paused for a second when his eyes met mine.My heart must have stopped, and now it was beating so fast that I felt like I might have a heart attack at any second. As if I became oblivious to any sound except the sound of my heart pounding and throbbing in my ears, everything seemed to be in slow motion.Mr. Spencer stood up from the couch, bringing me back to reality and positioning himself next to me. I kept staring at him as if in a trance. I couldn't look away, and neither could he.I had to force myself to snap back to reality. I closed my eyes for a few seconds. I breathed, taking in as much air as possible as if I had stopped breathing seconds ago. I tried to put all the jumbled thoughts in place, but it was impossible. I was freaking out with the questions that kept coming to my mind, one after the other. What is he doing here? The worst part is the absurd thought that he might be

KATEMeg returned at lunchtime. We left the building together and headed to a small restaurant near the company. We sat at a table near the window and quickly placed our orders."So, did everything go well after I left?""Yes. He didn't ask me for anything else after the coffee.""Incredible.""Why? Is he really that difficult?""He's... strict. I mean authoritative and arrogant. Last week was impossible. Definitely, Ryan is not a lovely person. He's full of himself. He loves to boss people around and always gets what he wants. But that's because the son of a bitch is not only a billionaire but also handsome... I have to admit. He's so sexy and...""And?" I laughed, amazed by her frankness."I think I'm talking too much.""No, I want to know everything.""Well, he's sexy and hot and intelligent and good at everything, damn it. There!" She had no idea, but he really is good at everything, or maybe she did, considering the way she was talking. I hope not."You must think I'm crazy.""No

KATEI found Lisa on the couch, dressed to go out, and she gave me an investigative look. I tried to pretend that I hadn't just run out after my first day of work."Hi!"I took big steps toward the kitchen."Hi! Is something wrong?""No. Why?""Because it looks like something happened.""I'm just tired... that's all."I sat at the table to make a sandwich after grabbing some stuff from the fridge."How was your first day?""Normal."Normal was the one thing it hadn't been."And your boss? What's he like? Besides being incredibly sexy and hot, is he... nice?""He... He's... He's professional!""Professional?" She laughed. "Seriously, Kate? Professional? A guy like him—professional isn't the right word to describe him. He looked incredibly sexy in the photos."At least someone was smarter than me and researched Ryan's face."He's my boss, Lisa." I rolled my eyes at her. You didn't consider that when you let him make you come, a few minutes ago. Damn."I'd love to have a boss like him,"

KATELisa was in her pajamas on the couch, drinking coffee. Thanks to the pharmacy pregnancy tests I did the night before, I managed to sleep, and now I was feeling more at ease. It didn't even seem like I had almost freaked out before finding the courage to check the results."Good morning," she said lazily."Good morning; did you arrive today?" I asked."Yeah, in the early morning.""Did everything go well?""Yes.""That's great! And when do you start?""Next week. Say hello to the new assistant to Carter's CEO.""Wow!""It's not just you who's super important now," she laughed. I hoped she wouldn't have the same luck as me, I thought as I poured myself a coffee."Kate?""Yes?""Are you okay?""Yes. Congratulations!" Lisa always knew when I wasn't okay, but she didn't press further."Okay. Are you doing anything tonight?""No.""Then, can you accompany me to Emy's birthday party?""Emy?""The one you met at the mall.""Emily Miles?""Yeah! Please, Kate.""I'm sure you can find a mu

KATEWe walked until we found a corridor where the music almost ceased. Why the hell was I being dragged along by a stranger? I didn't want to be rude, but the situation demanded it."Wait..." I made him stop."What?""Where are you taking me?"He smiled."Don't worry.""Seriously, Mr. Miles? I'm being dragged along by a stranger." I forced a smile. "And I shouldn't worry?""Don't worry. We're almost there.""You want me not to worry about you being a stranger or about you taking me to a strange place?""I'm not a stranger; I'm your friend's brother."Fine, he's Emily's brother, so it can't be that bad. I nodded and continued to follow him. Strangely, there was something familiar about him. We walked down the corridor until we entered a huge and elegant room. The place was furnished, with two large sofas in the center, bookshelves, paintings on the walls, vases, and a piano next to one wall."What would you like to drink, Katherine?""I'll let you choose this time.""Have a seat. Do
