31. THE HINTS OF DOOM
I DIDN’T MOVE in my spot, looking down at my feet wasn’t enough for me to pretend that I wasn’t observing Capo Luca and Callan’s sister’s movements ever since that unexpected talk with her happened. From a distance they look like they were just gazing at the scenery with a glass of cocktail and whiskey in their hands. But on my side, at this angle… They looked so serious when discussing something. It was just a series of whispers for a moment yet soon turned into an aggressive exchange of words. I wish I could hear them. What are they arguing about? The atmosphere at the yacht changed as soon as the dinner had ended. The wedding planner that Callan’s parents invited were then task to just prepare something fit for a simple civil wedding. I was planning to talk to Aunt Yna after excusing myself for the rest room, but instead, I kept stuck right here. After getting bombarded by Callan’s sister… getting back to my spot earlier and talking to Aunt Yna left my mind… Someone got near m

32. WHATEVER THIS LEADS TO
EVERYTHING WAS ALL WHITE. I squinted my eyes in hopes that I could see better but nothing changed. My vision was still blurry. Outside, the blazing sunrise passed through the windows until I slowly recognized what I was seeing. My parents were sitting on the couch looking younger than they had been the last time I saw him that night. In front of me, a scene was unfolding. A normal day for us as a family, the TV was on and my parents were watching. My mother was resting her head on my father’s chest and they kissed before looking at me—I was young… playing with my toys. I remember this memory. I was just 7 at that time, Dad didn’t have to go to work and so we spent the time hanging out in the living room. I invited them to play with my toys with me and they did until they got tired and needed to sit on the couch.“I love you, honey,” my father whispered to my mom’s ears, to which my mother didn’t answer back but she leaned towards him even more. The smiles on my parents’ lips and the v

33. THE PROMISED WEDDING
I COULDN’T BELIEVE that I’d ever be witnessing the exact moment that I just wondered about having months ago. From running to safety to having the courage to fulfill the last words of my father and gamble with the people I had just known, everything led to this. They say a wedding is a profession of love, well, as if for me it is a way of fulfilling my duty and finding out the truth. Callan was waiting on the other end of the altar while I was about to walk down the aisle. Yesterday I was just at the hospital recovering from a concussion. But today, I’d be walking for my wedding. True enough, the designs at the wedding venue were simple but it didn’t exactly mean that there were no efforts dedicated to it. There were flower arrangements all the way from the start of the aisle towards the end… there were several chairs covered in white linens lined up on the sand, there were no other people at the beach resort. It felt like it was booked only for this specific event. I’d like to give

34. AFTER THE WEDDING CHILLS
AS THE GUESTS congratulated us with the success of our wedding ceremony, everyone was then accompanied to the massive function hall at the beach resort. Callan and I savored the sunset behind us… standing beside each other and looking at the horizon and feeling the ocean breeze that started to feel cold on our skin. Before we headed to the reception venue after the ceremony had ended, we decided to let all the guests settle at the reception area first and we would be following. Because we need to talk. Callan’s parents went near us. Callan’s mother kissed me on the cheek as she whispered, “So happy for you and my son.”And Callan’s father gave him a tap on his shoulders. From a near distance, I saw the men who are leaders of the rajiv organization and they seemed to be waiting for Callan’s father to get near to them. I was just in awe of everything that just happened from the wedding designs, the venue, the guests invited… everything seemed to be going into plan. Except I don’t kno

35. CONFRONT YOUR EMOTIONS
“WANNA GO to our hotel room?” Callan whispered in my ears. I was at the brink of closing my eyes. With every additional ounce of drink, I gulped a while ago, I kept squinting my eyes more.I don’t know but it seemed difficult to focus on the party lights moving around the surroundings because of the haziness that I feel. Despite that I could feel the rush of adrenaline on my body, it felt electrifying, freeing, and enthralling. But I knew that this dissolve into nothingness in the morning with only a hang-over to endure. At that time, I’m certain I would hate myself for believing in the false sense of freedom. This would probably be the last glass that I’ll grab from the counter. I was lightheaded and the only that guided me in the dancefloor was the loud and upbeat music.“W-What… ziddd… yo s-say, C-Callan?” I managed to say while moving my hips in circles. He was behind me and so softly I could feel his touch on my waist roaming to the small of my back. His warmth sent shivers down

36. SENSELESS TOUCH
OUR GAZES LOCKED on each as I gulped in an attempt to calm my nerves and silence the wild beats of my heart. It was like I hadn't breathed well ever since I felt my clothes leaving off my body and it thud onto the floor. Looking at Callan, almost brought me into a trance. His tough physique lay bare on my eyes right in front of me. I intentionally did not gaze somewhere down below his navel. I already know he was huge. But I would turn red as soon as he caught me staring right on this dick and salivating at the thought that I had already brought it inside my mouth for a couple of seconds. No one spoke. Callan's eyes were focused on my face before he slowly scanned my entire body. His serious eyes wandered on my face down to my thighs.I saw his jaws move. "I mean... this is probably a mistake—" I started saying as I fidgeted my fingers on each other. Before I could cover my body and hide it from his gaze, Callan stopped my hands by bringing the back of my palm to his lips. "We may

37. WARMTH FROM LAST NIGHT
AS SOON as I opened my eyes, I felt the striking blaze of the sunrise directly onto my face. I moved and felt the soft mattress of the bed and realized I was lying on the bed. The soft sheets made contact with my body and I felt its texture onto my skin. I blinked several times, trying to adjust my eyes from the bright surroundings as it was finally morning and I didn’t even feel like I slept enough. My eyes widened when I felt something heavy around my stomach. I didn’t move, even halted my breath as I scanned the surroundings and made sense of what was going on. Why was there something heavy right there? I slowly lifted my body off the bed to gaze down at my stomach only to find myself shocked even more. My heart thumped inside my chest as loud as it could. I saw Callan’s face sleeping peacefully while he was leaning onto my stomach hugging my waist. His eyes were closed and his breathing was steady… almost as peaceful as the morning sky today. I gulped not knowing what to do.

38. HINTS OF SOMETHING
I WAS SHOCKED to see Aunt Yna so early in the morning. I was about to say something and step outside of our room when I realized that I only had my robe on and then nothing underneath. “Good morning, Aunt Yna,” I mumbled just moments after she told me that there was something I must know about. “Did you sleep well? Did you already have your rooms booked after the wedding reception? I’m sorry I couldn’t get back to you last night I didn’t realize I already had too many drinks. I would have checked if the other guest also had a good sleep and were, accommodated—” “Esmé, dear,” Aunt Yna stopped me from talking. She nodded and touched my hand “We had our own room on the ground floor, complete with great amenities so much that my husband is still sleeping as we talk.” “Oh,” I said smiling. “Good to hear that.” “Anyway… I am here to have a talk with you.” I nodded, my forehead forming a thin line. My head was still throbbing with a headache. It was kind of difficult to decide what I sh

39. WHAT HIS ACTIONS MEAN
CALLAN LOOKED OVER me by his shoulder while I was still in awe hearing him say that we will be flying with a private jet today. “I mean… I haven’t packed anything yet for that Hawaii trip. The new wardrobe that you gave me was at the mansion. Maybe we should head there first and gather a few things?” There was a noticeable hesitation in my voice. I did not mean to tell Callan what to do. I knew where I should stand with the way this dynamic is gonna work. He kept looking at me. And instead of feeling annoyed by my sudden outburst of hysteria, Callan looked somewhat amused. “Have you ever heard of having a vacation to release stress?” I tilted my head as I sat on a chair, shoulders slumped. “Well, I do. Might as well just enjoy myself in a foreign country with only just a robe on and that little white dress,” I said, my words left my mouth with a slur looking at the set of clothes that were a mess on the side. “You’re stressing out instead of distressing for a vacation.” “I can’t af

40. AWED BY HIS GESTURES
AFTER HEARING Callan’s words just seconds ago, here I am looking at his impressive preparation for our honeymoon trip. The proof? These suitcases were in front of me. Three huge luggage just for me? And he was sure that everything that I might need was packed in there? Whoa… this man, really. Talk about confusion. He sounded really cold yet caring earlier. Like he cares about me but not enough for him to acknowledge he has grown feelings for a technically homeless woman. I cleared my throat, enough of having thoughts that always push me off the edge. Realizing Callan left the suite and here I was alone inside, I inhaled deeply. You can’t really have everything in the world. At least, Callan’s family took me in when I had nowhere to go. This was what my parents would have wanted too. Maybe that’s why I never tried escaping. Slowly, I checked the luggage and looked through the clothes that were packed inside. Several pairs of casual clothes greeted me. There was also lingerie. Many
