After calling Alexa for a while and she refused to come back, Andrew faced his wife and second daughter, his eyes flashing in fury. 'I thought we had an agreement concerning revealing this to Alexa?' he asked, barely able to control his anger.'And for how long do you expect to hide this truth from her?' Amelia asked, just as furiously. 'Do you want this secret to follow us to the grave? She has a right to know and I think you should be thanking me rather than blaming me for revealing to your previous daughter, her true parentage'.'At least, she didn't need to find out this way. You should have told me you had plans to reveal this to her and we would have broken it to her gently, not in the manner you made her find out!' he said. 'Did you ever love her at all?' he asked. He was beginning to think that his wife had held Alexa responsible for her mother's sins. What the girl must have suffered and she never complained.'It just happened. I had not planned to tell her but I have to ens

Alexa got home that day and was happy to find her children in good health. She had had to leave that hit because it suddenly occured to her that she had left her children for far too long and she didn't want to be like her mother who did not know how to be a good mother. All through the night, she could not sleep, she kept having nightmares, of vampires and witches and wats with werewolves. She jerked up, sweating. Amidst her dreams, she had dreamt of that night five years ago and she almost caught the face of the man but it had become blurred and elusive and even now that she was awake, she felt her heart pounding. She was sure she almost saw his face. She had to so that she could at least know how to describe him. 'I might even have been passing him on the road without knowing he is the one!' she thought in alarm. 'But what if he recognizes me?' she thought. 'He should, he must have been sober that night but why hasn't he come forward?' she thought in frustration. Why will he? she

The next couple of days were fun as Wayne took the pups out on picnics, accompanied by their mother of course. They went sight seeing and seeing the laughter in her eyes and rich voice, Wayne could not be happier, it was well worth it. The children were also having the time of their lives. He had taken them out often when they were in the state but this was somehow different. It was home! They had just come back home when the Butler Mr. Bruce Stable, who met them at the door, said. 'Sir, I have a message for you'. Wayne waited for him to relay the message but he kept mute, looking pointedly at Alexa.'Whatever it is, you can say in front of everyone here', Wayne said.'I think I better go in and change', Alexa said, taking a step towards the stairs, but Wayne's restraining hand held her back.'Speak, Bruce!' he ordered.'Very well', he conceded. 'You got a mail from Miss Valerie Jones. She is coming back by the weekend!'Wayne's face fell as well as the hand that held Alexa and Alexa

Next morning, Wayne insisted on going to see her father with Alexa. 'I want to give you a little moral support!' he said with a smile.'You have done a lot for me as it is', Alexa said, looking very uncomfortable especially as she recalled all he had said to her, the previous night in his drunken state. 'I do not want to bother you more. Moreover I have to do this myself. Your presence will complicate issues!''I'm sorry, I didn't know I was now a complication in your life!' he said, looking wounded.'I didn't mean it that way but Dad may not be forthcoming in your presence. He will be ake you as an outsider', she said, trying to make him understand. She didn't want to hurt him. 'He doesn't know you as well as I do, you see'.'Do you think you really know me?' he asked, the timbre of his voice changing as he looked at her intensely. No, not again, Alexa thought in desperation. She did not want that particular complication now and another reason she didn't want him going with her. She

'Love?' Alexa asked. 'What role did my mother play in all of this? Don't tell me you found out she was the spy who stole your manufacturing strategy and gave to the witches and vampires?' Her tone was incredulous.'Oh no!' her father said very quickly, shaking his head vigorously. 'Your mother was not like that. Your mother was a great woman. I have never met any like her!' he said, a faraway look in his eyes, a tremor in his voice.Alexa was shocked as she stared dumbfounded. Could it be that her father loved her mother? Then her mother was not just a toy for his pleasure which he tossed aside when he was done with her?'You sound as though you loved her!' she said gently. Alexa had never been in love but she had read of it and had hoped she would fall in love with the man who reciprocates but so far, fate had been cruel to her.'Very much!' he said. 'There's no day that passes that I do not think of her. You look like her. Not exactly a splitting image but you are really your mother
