JOSH POV I wake up to a type of consciousness that feels like dream but also incredibly real and lifelike. I am aware of my body, and I pinch my arm to check if I’m asleep. It hurts so this could be real, but I don’t put a lot of stock into that hooey. I’ve been in pain in my nightmares before, even when it was self-inflicted. I don’t recognize where I am, but I really can’t see anything to know where I could be. I am surrounded by a soft iridescent, foggy light, and yet, the darkness is still all-consuming in the distance. The color of the atmosphere reminds me of those foreboding moments just before a hail storm or an impending tornado, when the sky is a dark reddish grey green, but also annoyingly bright. However, the mood here is different than that, it is comforting and warm instead of scary and angry. I know I’m not standing on anything.
