JOSH POV “Fuck!” I exclaim while I run my hands through my hair in frustration. “All we’ve done is talk! At least, that was what we were doing until I watched her catapult herself off a balcony to go fight a rogue army! You know what? Fuck this! I need to see her. JOSH POV Rose smiles gently at me in understanding. Something passes over me with her sweet grin that makes me relax in her presence. “I can understand all the conflicting thoughts and emotions, Josh. We were raised human, with human expectations for and of our lives. To suddenly be told that your life, the path that you’ve chosen and fought so hard for, has a foretold destiny with someone you never intended, is a shock to say the least. JOSH POV I close the door to Maddie’s bathroom and immediately head out to find someone for a clean gown and bedding. I’m not letting my mate get into a dirty bed after her shower. Aww, hell. MADDIE POV Joshua and I wait, and not a minute later, I hear feet running toward us. Dr. Langford bursts into the room and I quickly point out where I can smell the bleeding originating from. The scent is distinctive and coming from her right kidney. The team immediately gets to work. I don’t know what all they are doing, but they have cut into Terrie trying to find and contain the bleed. JOSH POV I am livid! I storm out of the packhouse front door and back down the steps. I pace at the bottom, not sure of what I want to do. Should I leave? Should I stay and let her explain? That guy and Maddie obviously have a history together. Is he one of her lovers? The nurse said she sleeps with humans and Maddie did call that guy Beta, so apparently, he’s a wolf.
