MORRIGAN'S POV “Wake up.” She whispered. “What.” I groaned. Today the fog was thicker than usual. “Wake up!” She screamed close to my ear, I felt hands shove my body and I began falling. I shot up, gasping for air. My breath was uneven, my skin slick with sweat, the echo of the scream still rang in my ears. I aggressively rubbed my ears. The buzzing finally stopped. A chorus of loud howls erupted in a distance, wild and urgent. A warning, the howls were followed by a string of screams and cries. I shot out of the bed, tripping on the sheets. I scrambled to get up, my heart beating so fast. I looked out the window and what I saw were men, women and children running gigantic wolves chasing after them. I was frozen in my spot, was this a dream? Was I still dreaming? An elderly woman was dragged down midrun, she let out a loud scream and her cries were silenced under a savage bite. MORRIGAN'S POV I remember when I was young my mom always told me never to use soul howl if I couldn't control it. We never lived in places where there were other wolves so I never understood why. I was never one to stay out of trouble, i would always run around, sometimes going far from where my parents were. My mom always warned me about the dangers of the world, but I never listened. One day on one of my little fun runs I ran into a family of rogue wolves, it was just the same as ours. A father, a mother and their little son, hw was about the same age as me. “Are you lost?” The mother asked me, a soft expression on her face. The little boy hid behind her his bangs almost covering his whole face. I curiously stepped closer, the father growled at me. I jumped back in fear. “Don't scare her like that. It's ok honey, where are your parents?” The woman asked gently, touching his shoulder. He scowled and shrugged off her hand. “No I am not.” I replied, trying to get a closer look

MORRIGAN'S POV “Why did you leave? You were so close to me.” The voice sounded distant this time. “Just leave me alone.” I muttered, my voice flat. A distant scoff rang through the fog and she repeated the question. “Why did you leave?” My shoulders sagged, I let out a weary sigh. I was exhausted even in my dreams. Leaving was harder than I thought, it took a big toll on me. I ran for three whole days without stopping. I didn't know how Zephyr was doing and that made my heart ache every single time I thought about the condition I left him in. The moment I stopped fatigue took over and I shut my eyes, but even in my dreams I couldn't catch a break. “Please just stop.” I begged, covering my eyes. “I cannot leave you alone. Go back to the Vile Fang pack.” She commanded. I ignored her words and sat down on the hard ground. I was never going back, never ever. This was for my and Zephyr's own good. I desperately followed her fading scent. My claws tore through the soil and leaves as I ran. My chest burned, lungs screaming. I wasn't fully healed yet but she was gone. How could she leave? Why? Was she planning to leave this whole time? Of course she was, after all I was the one who forced her to stay. I ran faster, harder, desperation clawing at my chest.
