(RORY’S POV) When I woke up, Jazz music was still playing in the background and there Todd was, asleep on his belly. One of his hands was lazily draped around me and his mouth slightly open as he slept soundly. I rolled over to my side, loving what it felt like to have his arm draped around me and enjoying his body so close to mine. I loved it. I felt happy, so haply that it felt like I was floating on the clouds! I wanted so much to remain in that position for a very long time. And I think I did. I can’t tell how long I have spent because my phone is not with me. Speaking Of, I really need to get my phone. I can’t stop thinking of Amanda, but to be honest , I don’t know where my phone is and I don’t want to wake Todd up. I know Amanda will be keeping an eye out for me. I feel very guilty that I won’t get to see her and that I was unable to let her know of the changed plans ahead of time. But knowing how sweet Amanda is, I am sure that she won’t be angry to find out that Tod

(THIRD PERSON’S POV) “I’m fucking losing my mind!” Leslie screeched angrily as she continued stomping about fiercely. She looked like an angry villain, a wicked cat woman at that!! They had left the hall where the dance was going on and were now outside at the back. “Calm down, Leslie,” Shelia said, trying to tread carefully. Leslie looked so angry, and they were sure they had never seen her this angry. She looked like someone who could arrange for Todd and Rory to be murdered now, if she could that is. Then she would have also loved to kill Amanda herself. She was raging and furious because nothing was going her way today. “I can’t calm down!” she said angrily. She was holding a cigarette in her hand and was puffing it from time to time as she stomped about angrily. “I can’t calm down because Todd is humiliating me!” she cried in frustration. “Daddy is too busy that he is not even taking my calls! Mum will kill me if she doesn’t see my pictures with Todd on the front cover of th

(RORY’S POV) “Can I offer you a deep kiss for your thoughts?” Todd’s teasing voice made me snap back to focus. A guilty smile tugged my lips as I looked at him, seeing him making funny kissy sounds with his lips. “Or is the food not good enough for you?” Todd asked, his smile smaller now, showing that he was really asking because he wanted to know if the food was okay. “The food is great!” I said truthfully. “Really?” Todd wanted to be sure. “I love it!” I said, placing my hand on my chest as my smile grew bigger. He had really planned for tonight; everywhere was stocked up even though we were only supposed to stay here for the night. There was so much food that I had not known what exactly to eat. I ended up settling for roast chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green peas. Then there were bottles of sparkling cider stocked up too, and now I had a glass full beside my plate. Everything was perfect, except for one thing of course. The thing that was stopping me from enjoy

(TODD’S POV) I had not even been given the chance to breathe properly after just having the best night of my life. My mum, for one, was here already, in my face before I even got the chance to count to ten. She was standing by the door of the stairs as if she was waiting for me to show up. She was dressed in casual jeans, a regular T-shirt, and her hair was spun into a messy bun on her head. She did not look the least bit pleased to see me; in fact, she looked angry, and I think it made things easier for me because then I did not have to pretend. Not like it was possible for me to do that, after all. I know now. “Good morning, Mum,” I greeted her. She stared bluntly at me for what felt like an eternity, and I really did not think she would give me an answer, but then she finally did. “Is it a good morning, Todd?” Mum asked me, but then I was surprised because her tone did not sound as angry as she looked. She sounded very tired, even though her expression looked firm. But

(RORY’S POV) Amanda had written her address for me the first time we decided to have a tutoring session together, but I had never gone to see her. Now as my car goes up the driveway of Sunny Street, I battle with a feeling of guilt in my stomach. The house with number six is modest, a single-story bungalow with tired but well-intentioned charm. Its pale yellow paint is faded and peeling in places, like old parchment, but the white trim around the windows has been recently touched up, a clear sign of someone’s care. A low, chain-link fence, slightly bowed in the middle, encloses a small, tidy front yard. The grass is a little patchy but recently cut, and a single rosebush, heavy with crimson blooms, stands guard beside the concrete path leading to the front door. I notice the careful arrangement of two weathered but clean garden chairs on the tiny porch, and the cheerful, daisy-patterned curtain visible behind the glass of the front door. A bicycle with a slightly bent wheel leans ag
