I just took a shower in the smallest bathroom known to mankind. The shower head hit my chin the whole time and my ass smashed against the tile wall when I tried to get my head under the cold ass water. It wasn't a nice experience, but I tried my hardest not to be a brat about it. Once I'm done and dressed with the few clothes I bought from home, I start a bath for Ash. When the bathtub is filled with very cold water, I crouch down and stick my hand in there. "Baby Flame, this is your father speaking. If you're listening to me... warm this water," I order, trying to create fire again. My body does nothing, "Great. You've been burning me for days and are nowhere to be found when I could actually use your help." Indeed, he's nowhere to be found. But I'm nothing if not persistent, so I stay there, trying and trying to create some heat. I know I can do it. I burned down a bed, I burned my brother-in-law, I can do this. I just need to figure out how. "Rem, what's taking you s

"I just know..." I continue, with a grimace, "Even if I come up with the most perfect speech and even if I act accordingly, something will go wrong and they will blame it on me... because it will be most likely my fault. Like, the tumultuous energy thing, you know? It's real. And I wish I had the power to contain it.""Why? That's literally a superpower," Nara says, scoffing like she thinks I'm being stupid, "The ability to create turmoil in an otherwise settled environment is what you were created for. By the Moon Goddess herself. It’s literally one of the biggest things about your very important existence. Stop looking at it like it’s a problem when it’s not.”But it is, though. Because I'm going to go in there and tumult everyone immediately. They're going to fight me or each other and get into drama, it WILL be my fault... and then Rem is going to be pissed. He'll realize I'm never going to change that about me, that I'll never stop being ‘dangerous’ or ‘unsettling’ or ‘unreliabl

During the first hour of this hell, all the Alphas talk about is the territory I'm occupying right now. Even though Remington reminds them he paid for a whole month AND the land has been completely forgotten for decades before me, the fuckers keep bringing up hypothetic moments where they might need it. They’re so damn greedy, it disgusts me. "If you ever need her territory, Alpha Ivy will evacuate with her people... and they'll all be welcome into my pack for as long as it’s necessary. That's it," Remington finally says, sounding very fed up. The guys want to keep arguing, but that kind of defeats their whole arguments, so we move on. Thank god. "Now... the fire situation," Alpha Ryan starts, looking at me, "The only way we could ever trust you is if we understand the exact extent of your power—your ability. I would want to conduct a few tests." "What tests? Like, govern—“ "Actually, if I may speak," River interrupts me, squeezing my shoulders from behind me again. Remin

I try my damn hardest to contain my joy until everyone is gone, but I'm so excited, I pretend I have to go to the bathroom and I sneak away from the main hall while they’re still a few Alphas around. “I’ll be back soon, keep an ear on whatever they say about me while I’m gone,” I whisper to River. My brother nods and winks at me, so I walk out… and then I sneak into one of the private living rooms near the stairs. I shut the door behind me and fly to grab one of the cushions from the loveseat to scream in there. A victory scream. I cannot believe that worked somehow. I cannot believe I'm actually an Alpha right now, in the freaking Northern Alliance. Every Alpha that ever banished me from their lame ass packs down south will be shitting themselves when they hear about this. "HA!" I let out, with another hysterical laugh, so excited I could jump… so I do. I jump on my own for a few seconds, excited to have survived that whole meeting with minimal damage. I'm still celebra

"Oh, baby... were you scared?" I ask. Ash responds in a sob, saying it was super scary. I continue rubbing his back for a few seconds, "I'm sorry, but it's over now. Next time, I promise it won't be that scary. Then one day, you'll love shifting.""I don't believe you," he murmurs, strangling the fuck out of me. I just chuckle and look to the right. Rem is there, smiling as he takes in his son's first meltdown. To be honest, this is kind of new for me too, Ash never cries, at least not like this. He only does the manipulation fake-cry sometimes. This is very real and I hate it, I don't want him to feel like this again. "What about Rem, do you believe him? He shifted as a little boy, too," I say, making Ash lift his head and turn to him, "Right?""Yes, I was just a bit older than you. I understand how scared you were," he says with a soft voice I've never heard before. He doesn't even talk to me like that. But Ash responds to it and moves away from me... seeking him. Rem easily takes
