The whole ride back to Everwood’s was scattered with rain, by the time Xander reached the barn he was soaked through. His black shirt and jeans were plastered to his body clinging to him like a very uncomfortable second skin. He reached the barn and saddled up a pretty mare named Gia, grabbed a rain slicker off the hook, mounted up, and headed towards the pasture to bring the horses in. As he reached the middle of the pasture, he saw three horses huddled together. He noticed two other riders surrounding them and readying their ropes to lasso the horses. He watched as they released their ropes, catching two of the horses. The third, a white mare, broke off to the right spooked when a loud clap of thunder boomed overhead. He watched the two riders calm the horses, then one handed off their rope to the other so they could tie off both horses to one saddle. The rider who handed off the rope was short in stature and slim, but he couldn’t tell who either of them were from the distance with

“No,” she grabbed the reigns halting their movement, “Lightening is probably scared and could be hurt.”“He’s a smart, strong horse, he has probably already found shelter and is waiting out the storm like we should be doing. Besides if he is hurt, there is nothing we can do for him, and we will find out when the sun comes up.”“I’m not gonna leave him out here in the storm if he is hurt!” she replied angrily, as she felt tears well up in her eyes, and tried to hold them back, thinking about Buttercup.“Why do you gotta be so damn stubborn? Don’t be stupid!” he yelled at her as his horse sidestepped, not knowing who was in control.“Stupid?!” she yelled pissed off, “I’m not stupid!
