“Hello old friend,” said a deep raspy voice in his head. “No,” she grabbed the reigns halting their movement, “Lightening is probably scared and could be hurt.”“He’s a smart, strong horse, he has probably already found shelter and is waiting out the storm like we should be doing. The rain was coming down much harder now, it stung Caly’s face as she raced south towards Blackthorn territory. All she could think about was Lightening and hoping he wasn’t hurt. She didn’t want another Buttercup situation to happen like it did when she was 10. The whole ride back to Everwood’s was scattered with rain, by the time Xander reached the barn he was soaked through. His black shirt and jeans were plastered to his body clinging to him like a very uncomfortable second skin. He reached the barn and saddled up a pretty mare named Gia, grabbed a rain slicker off the hook, mounted up, and headed towards the pasture to bring the horses in. As he reached the middle of the pasture, he saw three horses huddled together. He noticed two other riders surrounding them and readying their ropes to lasso the horses. He watched as they released their ropes, catching two of the horses. The third, a white mare, broke off to the right spooked when a loud clap of thunder boomed overhead. It couldn’t have been more than a few hours when Caly was awoken by the sound of loud knocking on her door. “Caly? He told me to go get Xander and Cody as he raced off. Cody was just pulling up when I let him know and he followed behind Mr. Tate. I went to get Xander but there was no sign of him, as I went by the pastures the rest of the horses were still out and grazing. Anyways, everybody else is too drunk from the party to help, so, I need your help to bring the rest of the horses in before they bolt as well from the storm, it’s getting bad out there.” He let out an exasperated
