Anna's POV I narrowed my eyes and curled my fingers into a strange hand seal. The vines beneath my feet trembled like snakes that were eager to strike. "I said, step aside, Haynes," I repeated with a calm tone that was heavy with command. Haynes clenched his sword tighter without moving. His gaze flickered between me and the wounded assassins behind him. The air around us thickened with tension. It was so thick that the trees seemed afraid to rustle.
