The First Strike

Silver remained rooted in one spot, her heart pounding fast against her ribcage. She knew this day was coming, but she hadn't expected it to arrive so soon. She had barely begun!“What is it?" Aaron asked, noticing the distress on her face. Silver shook her head, unable to bring herself to say it. Aaron snatched the phone from her grip and looked at it. "Shit, who sent you this?” He asked, but they both already knew the answer to that; no one they were going to find easily.Silver had a few guesses, though. She had ruffled quite a number of feathers yesterday; it was only fair that they strike back, but she didn't expect it this soon. Who could it be?“Find them." She ordered, walking faster to the car. She needed to see her son.As they drove to the boarding school, Aaron made several calls, but none were fruitful.“They went to great lengths to cover their tracks, Silver. I don't think this is someone we can take lightly, and as I've said already, I don't think we should be going t

Pregnant?

Silver thought surely she must have misheard. She didn't know Maya was seeing anyone, and even if she was, she didn't realize Maya was ready to be a mother.“What?" Silver broke the hug but remained seated at the edge of the bed, her eyes roaming Maya's body.Well, now that she's paying attention, she does look different. Her temperature was low, and her body was pale and clammy.“When did you find out?" Silver asked.“Last night, the puke just won't stop coming, so I did some maths and I realized I'm a week late," Maya muttered. Silver frowned. That wasn't enough to conclude she was pregnant.“Maya, are you sure? You've been drinking excessively these days; maybe you have alcohol poisoning.” Silver reasoned, but Maya scoffed, groaning as she sat up.“No, it's pregnancy, trust me." “Well, have you done any tests?" Silver asked, still not convinced."No, I don't want any test.” Maya scoff"Why not? That's the only way to know for sure.” “No test." She insisted, and Silver sighed. Fin

Scandal

Before Silver could soak in what was going on, someone pounded heavily on the front door. She jumped, startled. Her phone began to ring; it was Aaron. A message entered too.Aaron: I'm at your front door. Open up before Burke realizes what's going on.Silver sprang to her feet and rushed to open the door. Aaron barged past her.“You need to get dressed and follow me to the office right now. This is bad, Silver. The shares are plummeting, and people are demanding that you be removed immediately. I'm so sorry, I don't know how this happened, but we need to go.” Silver was already jumping up the stairs before he finished. She couldn't shower, so she just changed her clothes and sprayed more perfume than usual. When she got back downstairs, Burke was awake, and he was sitting by the dining table, but he didn't say anything as she walked out with Aaron. She couldn't help the sigh of relief that left her. He didn't know yet, but what will he do when he does? She'll find out later. The fro

Spineless, Bonehead, and Egoistical.

Maya entered the room calmly. She had woken up to several missed calls, and when she saw the news, her heart broke. She immediately went in search of her brother, but she wasn't surprised when she didn't find him. She knew he would only be in one place, though, which was why she wasn't surprised when she received Aaron's text as she took the elevator. She didn't recognize Burke at the moment; he was so enraged that he was shaking. She placed a palm on his back, and he flinched, sneering when he turned to face her.“This doesn't concern you, Maya," Burke said through gritted teeth."Why? Because you're the only one who just found out you have a secret brother?" Maya retorted.“She was my wife." Burke snapped.“And she was my best friend— our best friend, as I recalled. Yes, you are feeling betrayed and hurt right now, and I get it. I'm so mad at her, too, that I can't even see clearly, but this isn't the time or the place. We have a dynasty to protect." Maya argued calmly, but Burke w

Negative

“The test came out negative." The doctor said with a straight face. Silver released the breath she hadn't realized she was holding. While she loved Maya, Silver knew she was far from ready to be a mother.“Are you sure?" Maya asked, her voice high-pitched, drawing Silver's attention to her. “Run the test again," Maya demanded."What? Maya, what are you doing?” Silver straightened in her seat across the Maya, who was sitting on the bed."You know how these things can be wrong, sometimes, maybe someone messed something up somewhere. I'm pregnant, I know it. They just need to run the test again.” Maya insisted. A sick feeling took root in Silver's belly as Maya spoke in a manner that suggested she was in denial.Did she want to be pregnant? Silver didn't understand.“Okay, they'll rerun the test," Silver said calmly, nodding at the doctor. She stood up and held Maya's hands, staring into her eyes with compassion.“Are you okay?" She asked.Maya nodded emphatically.“Yeah, I just need the

See You In Court

Burke watched the business consultant climb the stairs, and he had to fight against every one of his primal instincts not to go after him and drag him down.Silver was in a mood for a fight. And if he hadn't been drinking, he would gladly indulge her. Long after they both disappeared down the halls, Burke still stared after them, continually convincing himself that he didn't care if Silver was in a room with another man.An attractive one. He certainly didn't care.“Gosh, you're so pathetic," Maya said somewhere in the room. Burke didn't bother indulging her.His sister was in pain. So was he, and if he were any smart, he would put his pain aside and help her out. But he couldn't, he wasn't a better person. He didn't want to be. He did it once, and what did he get in return? He was cheated on. A big part of Burke resented his sister. She was Silver's best friend. He believed she knew. He didn't have any proof, but those two didn't keep secrets from one another. As he walked to his r

Dangerously Close

“Give it back!" Maya exclaimed right after Silver snatched a bottle of whiskey from her grip. She lunged at her flappily, but she was barely able to stand, and she went tumbling back on the couch, Silver’s heart crushed.Silver had just returned from the office when she met Maya in the living room. From the look of things, she had been drinking for a while, and Burke was nowhere in sight.“Burke!" Silver screamed, hiding the drink behind the chair. Maya kept trying to stand up, and she stumbled back down every single time.“Maya, stop it. What is wrong with you? What is this?! Is this about the pregnancy?”"It was supposed to be mine! The one thing I could have for myself… that would love me. I….it wouldn't condemn me. I had already picked out a name, whether it was a boy or a girl, and it wasn't even real!” Maya slurred, sighing, and she gave up trying to stand up.“Oh, Maya." Silver whispered, drawing her into a hug. The lady hiccupped and then began to bawl. Silver felt hollow ins

Shut And Fuck Me

Burke’s eyes widened in shock as Silver grabbed his neck and pulled him towards her. Her lips clashed over his, and his whole world stopped. He exhaled, not realizing he had been holding his breath as he mirrored her actions and wrapped his strong arms around her lean waist. She moaned into his mouth, her breathing harsh against his lips. She stuck her tongue down his throat, and he wasted no time to suck on it. But he wasn't satisfied with her taking charge; he gripped her jaw tightly, forcing the kiss to end. Their eyes met, and he saw that there was no hesitation in her eyes.“Thank fuck." He whispered before reclaiming her mouth in a hot kiss. His body grew warm as she gripped his arms like he was her salvation. He devoured her mouth, leaving no corner unexplored. When he finally broke the kiss, they were both panting. Burke went for her neck, delivering open-mouthed kisses to sensitive corners.Silver moaned and begged him for more. He didn't fail to deliver as he continued down

Morning After

When Silver's eyes opened, the previous night's event came crashing and with it a strong wave of regret. What was she thinking? But that was it, though, she was thinking.Biting her lips, she glanced at Burke, who was softly snoring beside her. His face was peaceful, and an arm was thrown around her waist. She reached out to touch his face, but stopped before she could. This was a mistake. How could she have slept with him? She couldn't face him when he woke up. She couldn't live with him, not after this! She let her guard down once, and what did she get in return? Silver sniffed, not realizing she had been crying. Gently, she lifted his arm off her waist and slipped off the bed. As she hurriedly packed her stuff, Silver's heart pounded fast, scared Burke would wake up.But he never did.Not when she rushed to dress up. Or when she wheeled her suitcase to the door. Or even when she opened the door and paused for a complete ten minutes, mentally willing him to wake up and stop her.

Malia's Schemes

“Hello, is this Ms Lorraine?" Her female voice said through the phone.“This is her. Is everything okay?" Silver asked, sitting up. She recognized the number; it was Mathias School. She hadn't seen him physically in days, and it had worried her, but she kept her distance to protect him as Aaron advised.“We need you to come in, ma'am." “What? Why? Is my son okay?" Silver shot off the bed, already grabbing her bag and out of the door before she even finished speaking.“He is fine, ma'am. He's just been having some difficulties lately with his mates because of the um..you know, the news online." The lady said lowly.Silver's blood ran cold. Her son's been bearing the brunt of her actions.Gracious goodness. How had she not thought this could happen?“I'm on my way." Silver said, punching the elevator aggressively with shaky hands. It opened, she stepped in, holding her breath as it went down. Her driver wasn't outside, but that car was. Silver didn't have the car, though. She stepped o
