“We’ll have to find another way out of here, Ma'am. The front is not an option right now." Silver's driver, Thomas, said with a concerned frown.Silver nodded. She went to the matron's office and knocked on the door.“I need another way out of here." She said, straight to business. The woman nodded and stood up.“You can use the back entrance. A lot of people don't know it exists, but you'll have to get someone to come pick you up because it's a little unsafe." “It's alright. I have my driver with me." Silver said, heading out. She entered Mathias' room, picked a few clothes, and left the rest. She would send someone for Mathias' belongings later. As they drove back to the hotel, her phone rang. Silver held her breath as she picked up the call; she's been expecting it for days now. It was inevitable.“Hey, Ma." Silver whispered.“Don't you take that tone with me, young woman. What is this about Matty being in the news? And where are you? I'm at the mansion, but you're not here." Tati

The boardroom was quiet for a long time. Silver didn't know what to say. She hadn't expected that all her efforts and time these past few months would come to an end so quickly.“Which shareholders are threatening to leave?" Burke asked. Silver’s eyes darted to him."Uh, well, I spoke with Leyland last night, and he told me the rest of the shareholders are talking about pulling out. In fact, they would call for a meeting before the week runs out, so we all decided it was time to act before that happens.” Rebecca said smoothly."We, who?” Burke asked again, letting his eyes pass over everyone in the room. "Is everyone here in agreement with this motion?” Scattered murmurs and grumbles filled the room, but no one spoke loudly. Silver’s heart calmed a little.“Does it matter? Let's put it to a vote and see how it turns out." Rebecca huffed.Burke nodded, swirling in his seat so his eyes were trained solely on Silver.“Rebecca, are you aware that Leyland's son, Mark, and I are friends? A

“We alternate days at the mansion,” Burke mumbled, giving in.“Explain," Silver murmured, her interest piqued.Burke hesitated. Silver crossed her hands. “If I stay in the mansion today, you'll stay tomorrow. It won't be easy, but with that, we can argue that we lived under the same roof for three months." That made no sense. Silver laughed, and Burke's eyes hardened.“What's funny?" He snapped.“You are. You want me to move between homes for three months? That's ridiculous. Look, I'll just move back in and pick a room on a different floor." She declared. That was a better option.“That's not going to happen, not unless you want me to fuck you again," Burke said flatly. Silver gasped, heat rising to her face. How could he say that to her with a straight face?"We cannot cohabit without me putting my hands on you. You've reminded me of how explosive we were together, and I can't simply go back to pretending otherwise.” Burke expatriated, pacing the room again. He was restless. “Okay

Darting another glance down the hall to confirm Burke was asleep, Maya sneaked out of her room and tiptoed to the living room. Her heart raced every step of the way, but she just had to go out. Burke was watching her like a hawk, which meant she couldn't drink and was losing her mind. She was feeling so many things at once and didn't know how else to handle it than to drown her sorrow with alcohol. She ordered a ride, so she had to walk all the way to the mansion’s gate. As she slipped into the car, she exhaled.“Spotlight club." She told the driver, and the car began to move. The ride was quick and fast. As she entered the club, she felt a giddy feeling in anticipation of the fun she was going to have.Soon, she made her first order of six shots of tequila. She drowned them all in record time and ordered another set. She was about to start on her third one when she felt a familiar hand rest upon hers, stopping her mid-drink.Even before she turned around, she knew who it was. His sce

Silver was literally walking on air as she entered her office. It had been a great couple of weeks.Things were good with Burke. Hell, she dared say great. Maya had reduced drinking. And Mathias was happy with Tatiana. Silver alternated living between the mansion and her hotel, but she was always at the mansion more, and she hadn't regretted it. She didn't sleep over last night, which is why she headed for Burke's office as soon as she dropped her bag in hers.Knocking on the door, she didn't wait for a response before pushing the door open.“Good morn—" She froze when she saw that Burke wasn't alone. He had a guest. Their back looked weirdly familiar, but Silver decided not to poke. “I'll come back." She whispered. Burke nodded, his face blank, but she could tell something was wrong. She turned around.“But I was waiting for you.” Someone said, The voice made her freeze. It also made her belly sick. Felicia.Silver knew the woman was bound to get out of the hospital one day, but sh
