Rafe POV The rogues lay broken, bleeding, some floating face-down in the black water. The dock reeked of death and salt. But the suits? We left them untouched. Untouched, but not unharmed.Calder stalked over, yanked one out of the driver’s seat, and shoved him against the car so hard his teeth clacked together. Maddox leaned in, wolf heat rolling off him like fire. “You’re gonna run back to your boss,” he said softly, claws tapping the man’s cheek, “and you’re gonna tell him exactly what you saw here.”Jax stepped up, gold still burning in his eyes, blood dripping from his shoulder like it didn’t matter. He bent low, voice a deadly whisper. “Tell him we don’t forgive. Tell him Evelynn is ours. And tell him if he even breathes in her direction again…” His smile was pure death. “…we’ll rip his fucking pack apart, bone by bone.”The suits were shaking so bad the briefcase fell out of their hands, money spilling across the dock like worthless trash.I picked it up, thumbed through a fe

Evelynn POVOutside, the morning had brightened; clouds were tearing apart like thin paper. I took the can in hands that still trembled. It smelled faintly of the plastic factory - new and chemical - but to me it smelled like leverage. Possibility. The walk back to the car felt strangely long. The town gave me nothing but the ordinary grey of early day: a dog sniffed a pole, a mail truck rolled past, a kid on a bicycle cut across our path and called hello to the waitress. Those small motions made the morning seem normal in a way I hadn’t felt since the rejection at the pack dinner.I popped the tank and started the slow, careful pour. The fuel smell hit me like a slap. The petrol can’s plastic warmed under my hands and the liquid hissed like it had its own temper. A drop landed on my boot and I sniffed without thinking. It tasted like escape. Like motion. Like leaving behind the part of me that had been his Luna. When it was full, I capped it and carried it inside. The bell above the

Evelynn POVThat answer could have been a threat. It could have been a sermon. Instead it landed like a fact, hard and unarguable.“So you’re criminals,” I said. My throat tightened on the last word. I hated how small it made me feel - like I’d slept wrapped in wolves and woke up in their teeth.“Outlaws,” Calder corrected, voice as dry as rusted metal. “Not aimless criminals. We live outside their rules because their rules don’t keep our people safe. We move goods. We move information. We take contracts - legal and illegal - that give us leverage. That keeps our people fed and our enemies honest.”Maddox shrugged, still trying to hide the tension with noise. “We’re also the sort who breaks necks when someone tries to take what’s ours.”I let that sink in. The pieces fit together in a shape I recognized but had no name for until now: biker club, outlaw pack, wolves in leathers who ran territory like kings.“Why do you need me?” I asked. My voice was quieter this time. The question was

Rafe’s POVThe moment Evelynn stepped back into the bar, I smelled blood. Not hers - thank the moon - but thick and sharp on her skin, staining the air around her like a banner.Every muscle in my body went taut. Maddox’s grin vanished. Calder’s growl shook the bottles on the shelves. Jax’s eyes burned gold, his wolf clawing to the surface. And her?She walked through the haze of neon and cigarette smoke like she owned the place. Head high, spine straight, eyes steady. My wolf surged inside me, hackles raised, not from anger - but from hunger. She stopped at our table, blood on her knuckles, fire in her stare.“Next time,” she said, voice cold and sharp enough to slice through bone, “I expect one of you to follow me when I get up.” Then she snatched a glass and downed the whiskey in one swallow. The entire bar went silent. Even the jukebox choked. My wolf snarled, half-mad with pride. "Luna. Ours. Ours."I stood slow, every eye following. Her scent was already tangled with mine, but n

Evelynn’s POVThe night smelled like iron, fuel and smoke.I gripped the wheel tighter, my knuckles aching. The headlights carved a thin silver path through the dark as the car ate the miles. In the rearview mirror, the shape in my backseat didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. One of theirs - one of ours now - wrapped in leather and blood. His body shifted with each bump in the road, and every time it did my stomach twisted like it was my own brother lying there.Ahead, four bikes rode in formation, their taillights a steady, pulsing red. Rafe, Calder, Maddox, Jax - the brothers. Mine. Wolves born of fire and metal, their engines were low, furious heartbeats pounding out a song that promised vengeance. Behind me, more bikes thundered, twenty strong, a wall of sound and fury escorting me like a queen of the dead.It looked like a funeral procession. It was one.The city fell away behind us, neon bleeding into shadows, and the road stretched on toward the Ironfang pack house. Gravel hissed unde
