We convince ourselves that what we remember is exactly how things happened, when in reality, our minds only keep fragments of events and fills in the gaps using feelings, beliefs, and time. The rest is quietly invented-stitched together by emotion, time, and longing. What we call memory is not the past itself, but a reconstruction, shaped by what we felt rather than what truly occurred. That is why no one ever remembers everything. We only remember what our minds allow us to survive.
