Cassandra’s POVMy heart nearly stopped when I saw them together in the kitchen. It was the least thing I expected.Lysander stood barefoot on the tiled floor, pointing excitedly at the counter, while Alaric leaned slightly against it, his body stiff, as if he wasn’t sure he was even allowed to be there.“What is going on?” I snapped before I could stop myself. They both froze, like thieves caught in the act. Lysander turned to me first, he had a soft innocent expression, completely unaware of the storm raging in my chest. “Noah couldn’t eat,” he said simply. “His hand is bad. So I brought him to get biscuits. It’s bad to sleep hungry, mummy.” he said without an ounce of guilt. My brain halted for a moment..I blinked, then slowly looked at Alaric. “You were hungry?” I asked, my voice turned quieter. “I thought you said you could manage.” He didn’t meet my eyes. His gaze dropped to the floor, shoulders were slightly stiff. “I didn’t want to cause you extra trouble,” he muttered.
