Chapter 61

Elena’s POVI start learning the ways of the woods the same way I’m learning Damien’s.We continue to meet in the little cabin, sharing information we hope we can use to free the innocent omegas and this night is no different. With the help of Bianca, I quickly put on my cloak, unexplainably eager to get to my destination.“Your highness, please be careful. I hear the Alpha may work late into the night today.”“Yes, Bianca, I promise, I’ll be very careful. Besides, they’ve been saying the same thing for the past few nights and nothing has happened.”“Yes, I know but still, it is better to be on the safe side,” she says, straightening my dress one more time.I nod, before making my way out of my room. When I get to the cabin, Damien is already there, settled on a small wooden chair in the middle of the cabin. “You’re kind of late,” he says the moment he sees me but it’s not said with any hint of hostility, just with a light smirk that showed he was trying to pull my legs.“I had to be

Chapter 62

Elena’s POV“What the hell is that?” I ask, watching as he stands up.He just chose with his hand for me to hold on as he works closer to the door.My heart beats faster with each passing second because I can’t help but think we’ve been caught by the devil himself.“Lukas, do you think it’s him?” I barely whisper. He pauses, turning into me immediately. He stares at me with alert eyes, but says nothing before turning to the door. His hand rests on the knob then it takes a moment as if counting before pulling it open.“Hey man,” a strange voice calls out and I hear him exhale. Clearly, he knows the person so I quickly get up to join him.“Vale, what the hell, man? You scared me. I thought it was my brother or something.”I join them at the door just then, watching as the man waves Damien off.“Oh, nothing like that,” the man says, then pauses, running his eyes over me.He is obviously surprised to see me there.“Vale, how did you manage to find me? And why did you leave the site? You

Chapter 63

Damien’s POV“Why are you so quiet? It’s very unusual of you.” I finally ask, unable to bear Vale’s silence anymore.“Well that’s because I’m thinking,” he replies, jaw tightening.“Hmm, thinking? And what is so serious that has you so deep in thoughts and quiet?” I ask, although deep down, I already have an idea of what it can be about. He smirks. “Well you really want to know?”“Of course,” I reply, nodding.”“Fine, I’ll say it,” he runs a hand through his hair.“Man, I love you but I don’t know what you think you’re doing with that girl.”There it is. The very thing I thought it would be. My shoulders tense, and I look away.It is basically my time to be quiet.“Oh, now you aren’t saying anything?”My jaw lock, “Well I don’t know what she wants me to say because we aren’t—.”“Oh, man, don’t,” he cut in.“Don’t treat me like I’m a child or a fool.”I look away, staring at the trees for no reason.“Vale, I don’t know what she wants me to say.”“Well I want you to say you end it, okay

Chapter 64

Lukas’s POVSince I seem to find any sleep, I decide to take a walk around the palace. Something that has become my new nightly routine. After a while of walking around, I decide to try my luck and go to Elena’s room, hoping she won’t turn me away so I can spend the night and enjoy a few hours of sound sleep. But when I get there, she’s nowhere to be found.Even her maid can’t keep accounts of movements, something that doesn’t sit well with me.“Where did you say she went?” I ask the only one I see in the room.“She… she went for a walk, your highness,” she stammers, fingers shaking.“Hmmm.” I walk out of the room, registering it is more than just a walk she went for.I turn on the corner and that is when I feel it— a soft cool body colliding against me.We both pause and immediately I notice it is her.“Where the hell are you coming from?” I ask, my voice low.She tries to retreat, but I quickly catch her elbow.I can literally hear her heart pumping hard.“Elena, where the hell are

Chapter 65

Damien’s POV As we walk through the woods, my mind wanders back to the event from a few days earlier when we had seen the omegas and rescued them.Thankfully, we had enough manpower to do that without too much casualty, hitting the enemy when they least expected it.However, I can’t deny the fact I have been plagued with thoughts of what is to come. Will my brother try to get revenge for the unplanned attack?“Who knows— we may be lucky to stumble upon another set of captives,” Vale said beside me.I sigh. “Well I hope we don’t. Remember we don’t have enough manpower with us currently to withstand any confrontation like that. We are literally outside by ourselves.”He nods. “Oh yeah, you are right.”We are about to fall back to our previous silence when I hear the ruffling behind the bushes. We pause, staring at each other before turning back to catch sight of whatever it could be.“Did you hear that?” He asks me, back pressed against mine.“Of course, I heard it. And I’m not sure b

Chapter 66

Damien’s POVI sit in the middle of the cabin, wondering why she’s taking longer than usual to get here. Finally, after a while of waiting, I hear her footsteps and a moment later, the door pushes open and she walks in.“Hey, what happened? You’re kind of late.”She stares at me, lips parted emitting quick sharp breaths then sighs.“I had no choice, I had to be.”This immediately puts me on the edge.“Why? Did something happen?”She was closer to the middle of the room, looking away from me.“The Alpha… your brother knows. He knows about everything.”My heart skips quickly before I can’t control it.I join her, watching as she rubs her hands together in an attempt to get them warm.“Wait, you mean—.”She turns to me. “Yes, that’s exactly what I mean. On my way back to the palace the last time we met… he caught me sneaking in.”The words land heavy. “Oh shit.”“Yeah, then his beta came in and whispered something into his ear and… he immediately flared up. I don’t know how they found ou

Chapter 67

Elena’s POVI turn restlessly on the bed for the upteenth time, I’m angry that I’m unable to catch any sleep. My mind keeps thinking about all the rules I have to live with. The wicked rules Lukas set in place just to make sure I don’t leave the palace.Every new day came with a different worse rule.To the extent my room now feels like a prison closing in on me. I close my eyes, try not to think of my other problem.Damien.But I fail woefully. No matter how hard I try, his image can’t seem to leave my head.Everything about him lingers in my mind. His voice, his eyes, his aura. The way he moves effortlessly when he gives explanations of his new plans. The way he makes my throat dry each time we are together. I don’t understand it, and I can’t explain it either but he seems to have me wrapped up just where he wants me— and I can't say I mind. And that is why the thoughts upset me. The thought of never seeing him again deeply unsettles me.Although we haven’t spent very long time

Chapter 68

Damien’s POV “What do you think about this? You must admit my idea was a good one, right?” Vale asks me, still fawning over the success of the party he suggested.I nod slowly, gulping down another cup of wine. “Yes, since you want to hear it so badly, yes, your suggestion came out perfectly.”He smirks. “Very good. I mean it’s not like you could’ve denied it anyway, I can clearly see the results before me,” he says smugly, earning a small laugh from me.But he is right. The people had been so happy when we announced we were going to throw a small party to celebrate the freedom of everyone.”I gulp down another cup of wine. “Hey calm down, man. Why are you drinking so much?”I sigh. “I thought it’s a party. Aren’t we supposed to drink at a party? Why are you policing me?”He draws his eyes over me slowly. “Well it’s not like I want to police you, I’m just surprised by the way you’re taking down the cups. I also haven’t forgotten that you’re not very good with wine.”I wave him off.

Chapter 69

Elena’s POVI’m so lost in the book in my hand that I don’t quickly realize when someone walked in. But as soon as I do, I whip my head around to pay my apologies as I believe it may be the owner of the room that I intruded. “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know—.”I stop abruptly halfway as I realize who I’m talking to. Of course, I expect him to be here, but I can’t deny that he still caught me by surprise.“Elena,” he whispers as if seeing something strange he hadn’t expected.“Yeah,”“How… how did you end up here?” step closer, looking at me as if I’m unreal.“I can’t believe you’re really here.”“Well, you did give me that map and I suppose it wasn’t just meant to be a decoration in my room, was it?”He smirks, shaking his head slightly. “No, no, it wasn’t.”Silence stretches between us.Then, he comes closer, carefully counting his steps. “Well, Elena, I’m glad you’re here. You have no idea how happy I am right now to see you standing in front of me,” he spells it out, like a confessi

Chapter 70

Damien’s POVWe don’t rush as I want to take my time with her, studying every curve with precise dedication.I deliberately take my time, making sure the slowness comes with equal smoothness as I hold onto the front of her address, peeling off each button with careful reverence. It doesn’t take long before her address falls to her feet, leaving her before me.I pause, my breath clotting in my throat as my eyes run over her body. Her curves, her confidence, her innocence. The way she stands with strength accepting that she’s beautiful no matter what.Goodness, it is a sight to behold.“Cat caught your tongue?” she teased, an attempt to bring me back to Earth.I smile, nodding my head slightly. “You have no idea what is before me.”“What do you mean?”I lift my eyes, meeting hers directly.“Elena, you are so beautiful,” I murmur simply even though I have more poems in my head that I can use to describe her beauty. She lets out a deep smile but I’m not even sure she fully understands ju
