CHAPTER 31Daniel “Scarlett Brown Daniel Cross's Ex-fiancèe has been proven not guilty after she was almost sentenced for a crime her Boss, Mr. Lewis Gray, had committed," the reporter on the television screen said while my Mom just pulled out her face with disappointment."How's this possible?” Mom asked, looking at me since I didn't say a thing about what happened at the hearing.“I thought she was guilty at first Mom," I responded.“I made sure it looked like she was. These reporters are fools. How dare they add our family name to a loser like Scarlett? We've nothing to do with her. Damnit I should have put in enough resources to send her and that idiot to prison together," Mom shook her head while I wondered what involvement she had in all this.“Do you have something to do with Lewis Gray's arrest?" I asked her."That's not important son, we've to clear our family name before our partners—”"Mom, did you or didn't you have an involvement?” I cut her off since she was trying so h

CHAPTER 33 Daniel “I'm not going with you, he's going to take me," she pointed to a man who was smiling at her from the counter. “Rhea don't you dare," I warned. “Nice try, Daniel. Let me see you try to stop me," Rhea responded, walking towards the counter. The amount of humiliation I was feeling in that moment was just unbearable. It's like I had signed up for my worst nightmare. Going home to emptiness and dirt at every angle. “Hey handsome," Rhea smiled at the gentleman before placing her hand on his shoulder. “Hello, beautiful. You seem to want to have some good time," he smiled at her before biting his lower lip. “Of course. But that man is harassing me. Can you handle him?" she asked the man while I just shook my head in disbelief. “Rhea, that's enough, we need to go," I said, walking towards them before the man blocked me. “Where do you think you're going?" he asked in a deep tone. I had one too so I wasn't intimidated. “Move, I'm taking her with me," I responded

CHAPTER 35Daniel “There's no way I'm going to leave my life just to become your wife Daniel. I have no intentions of wanting to become a housewife," Rhea said, and I just couldn't believe my ears.“Babe what are you saying? It's not like you'll lack anything I just—" “I've been trying to tell you this, Daniel. This is just not for me. I deserve better," she shook her head.“Rhea what are you saying? I sacrificed my marriage for you. And you promised to become my wife." “Breaking one promise I can't keep won't hurt Daniel. I've had enough of all these limitations. I want to live my life,” Rhea said walking into the dressing room.I was certain she was going to pack her stuff but wasn't ready to lose her. I thought she was going to change but things just keep getting worse.“Rhea please. You don't have to go. We can figure things out together," I held her arm, but she pushed me back."Don't touch me,” she said.I couldn't do anything at that moment. I could tell Rhea was just not th

CHAPTER 37Daniel “Danny come on I'm a public figure he must have—" “Don't call me that Rhea. I knew that look. It has nothing to do with shock. What don't you want to tell me?" I asked. She took a deep breath and then replied, “Maybe you don't want me around I'm leaving." “After I just sent you 3 million?" “Oh, that…that's nothing to me, Daniel. I can have it sent to you in mini seconds. I've had men who sent more. That's what I'd call the bare minimum, don't even know why I took it damnit!" she cursed and then made her way upstairs.I was jealous and the thought of Rhea probably having something to do with George was consuming me. I threw my blazer on the sofa and then made my way to the kitchen, took some ice blocks, and then made my way to my office.Below my desk was a bottle of wine that I had not touched ever since I made that promise to Scarlett. Now that she's gone there was no need to keep it. I pulled out the bottle and then poured some wine into the glass with ice bloc

CHAPTER 39Scarlett Swakopmund, Namibia The moment I walked out of that courtroom I knew life wouldn't be the same. If it wasn't for Zoe's hard work I would be paying for a crime I had nothing to do with. Everyone had fingers to point without giving ear to what I had to say. And worst of all, the man I once loved brought that same woman who caused us to my trial. He couldn't even wait for everything to be over instead kept kissing her damn hand in my face repeatedly. When I got home I packed my bags and got myself the next flight to Swakopmund. I've never been here before but heard a lot about this coastal city. The moment I got here, I got myself a job at a high-profile design studio. The way these people appreciate my work is just amazing. I haven't even gotten enough time to rest as all our clients only want me to handle their designs. Given a chance to put my work out there, I couldn't care much about anything else.Day and night I kept myself busy until I got a promotion as
