Lahat ng Kabanata ng Enemy Outside (Unseen Enemy 2): Kabanata 1 - Kabanata 10

“Well, I’d say that that was a raging success… wouldn’t you?” Nigel slumped in his chair, sipping his wine. “Everyone had fun, right?”Olivia Jameson grinned at Nigel Ramirez. Her personal assistant looked exhausted, and it was mostly because he had spent the previous six days organizing things for the party that evening, including getting the guest-of-honor’s parents into Denver from Angola at no cost whatsoever. Normally, Nigel could have planned this party in two hours flat with one hand tied behind his back and while suffering from a debilitating flu, but this party had been very special.Seven weeks before, one of Liv’s best friends, Emma Cartwright, had received a stem cell transplant, and now Emma’s chances of fighting off her leukemia had dramatically improved. She wasn’t anywhere near cured yet, but everyone around Emma could finally take a deep breath again. This party at Liv’s house had been to celebrate the success of the transplant, as well as their newfound sense of opti

He held the phone under his chin as he put on his shoes and coat and grabbed his car keys. “Olivia, where are you right now?”She blinked. “At home.”“I mean, which room?”“The living room.”Dallas mentally ran through the layout of her house, including the windows and which directions they faced. As was his habit with every building he entered, he’d automatically and almost idly noted everything when he’d been there earlier that evening for Emma’s party. “Do any of your room doors lock?”“Yeah. The master bathroom.”“Go there. Right now. I’m coming to you, and I’m going to stay on the phone with you the whole time, OK?”“OK.”Liv walked down the long hallway on trembling legs, expecting a hand to grab her from behind at any second. She glanced over her shoulder, then whipped to look forward again; back and forth, she twisted and turned, trying to see everywhere at once. Her skin crawled with the sensation of eyes on her. When she got to her bedroom, she hesitated at the door. The li

The next morning, Dallas was wide awake at six o’clock, as usual. He turned over on the sofa in the living room and stretched, wincing a bit at the cramp in his muscles. Bodies like his weren’t really meant for sleeping on sofas, but he had wanted to be between Olivia and the front door. His loaded gun was on the floor next to him, since he knew that when dealing with the kind of fucker who’d been in Olivia’s house the night before, there was no such thing as having enough precautions in place. He listened for a few seconds, his ears straining to hear if there was any movement in his bedroom yet, but all he heard was her soft breathing. Still out, then. Dallas quietly got to his feet, padded down the hallway and looked into the master bedroom. She was curled up in his bed, her glorious red hair spilling across the pillow. Her stunning face was relaxed and sweet, and he found himself wanting to just go over to her, slide in between the sheets with her, take her in his arms. He’d kiss h

Emma Cartwright stared at the door, confused. Why is Liv standing in the doorway to Dean’s bedroom? In her pyjamas and carrying a cup of coffee?Emma sat up. “Ummm. Hi?”“Hi.” Liv came in and perched on the edge of the bed. “How you feeling today?”“OK.” Emma glanced at the clock. “Wow, I slept.”“You were exhausted,” Liv said gently. “Dean said you came back here after the party last night and just passed out.”“Yeah, I guess.” Emma took the coffee gratefully. “Thanks. Now… to the important question. What are you doing here? And why are you in your pj’s?”Liv sighed. “I have something to tell you, Em, and you’re going to be a bit surprised.”Emma studied her friend’s face. “Wait. Did you stay over with Dallas?”Liv paused. “Uh, yeah.”“Finally!” Emma said. “Jenny and Kat and I have been waiting for you two to get together!”Liv blinked. “Really?”“Yes, really.”“OK, well, you’re still waiting. Nothing like that happened.”“So… you stayed at Dallas’ place but didn’t sleep with him?”“

Greg made a choking sound.“I’ll take that as a ‘yes’, shall I?” He pressed down and Greg’s face turned red. “Shall I?”“Y – y – yes,” Greg choked out.“OK, good. So. As I was saying, as the former head of Olivia Jameson’s security detail, you’ll have all the information on her stalker readily available to hand over to me, the new head of her security detail. Isn’t that right?”Greg nodded.“And you’ll be very pleased to give me all of that before I go. Correct?”Greg nodded again. He was now turning a strange color of purple.“Hey, man,” Chris observed. “Maybe let up. Just a touch.”Dallas leaned back slightly and Greg sucked in some air. “So, me and the boys will be out in the waiting area, enjoying a cup of coffee with Cordelia – who you really should treat more nicely, by the way – while you gather all the intel you have. I want it all, Wallace… every note, every e-mail, every record of every single fucking text and image that sick prick ever sent her. Times, dates, places. Anybod
