Marcella’s povTruly, the say mothers know everything. They see what we can’t, predict what is happening, what will happen and what is yet to happen. If not all mothers had that super power, mine did.I couldn’t carry my legs as the weight of the rejection broke me, i walked slowly, almost in tears, walking down the road alone. I pictured the last scene in her house, the girls all over her, how she claimed to deceive me. I couldn’t still believe that the Lucille I had known changed over night. We used to be happy together, be so much in love. All the memories of how we were always together, came flooding back to me. I almost broke down on the road. I reached a nearby wall and leaned on it for support. If everything was a lie she was damn good. Because I believed her so well. When I finally made it back to the apartment, I buried myself under the covers of my bed. Rose wasn't home, which felt like a rare blessing. It gave me the quiet time I needed to reflect on my life and the choice

Marcella’s pov “how have you been?” She asked me and I just ignored her. Wanted to return the same attitude she showed me all this while. “Ella….there’s no need to be this way” coming from the same person that put me in this corner for a very long time. “I had a lot on my mind” she continued but I still remained silent, waiting for the perfect moment to walk away. She walked closer to me. “I’m sorry about Patrick…. But I believe it’s for the best”. I couldn’t believe my sister was taking their side especially when she knew I was with Lucille. Even though I haven’t told anyone about our break up yet, it felt wrong. Maya always took my side in matters like this but now she was on their side. “You knew about the arranged marriage?” I asked her angrily and she nodded. “Why didn’t you tell me about it?” I asked bitterly. “Cause it’s not my place…” she defended herself. “And when did you begin to care about people’s places” she sounded like a whole different person, dressed enti

Marcella’s pov “Patrick…” I said into the phone, forcing my voice to remain steady. “Can we talk? Just you and I?” “What for?” his smooth, voice drifted through the line. “About the deal you offered for the marriage.” The line went quiet for a moment. I could almost picture the victorious, smug smile spreading across his face. “Meet me at my penthouse,” he replied shortly, and the line went dead. I had always heard whispers about Patrick's infamous penthouse, but I had never actually set foot inside it. Ever since high school, countless girls had adored him not just because he was undeniably good looking, but because of the flashing, extravagant display of wealth he constantly flaunted. When I arrived at the massive estate, my jaw nearly dropped. Holy shit, the rumors hadn't even done it justice. The residence was absolutely stunning. Even with my own family’s immense wealth, this level of opulence was staggering. It was far too much. No wonder Lucille held unto him and my mot

Lucille’s pov My life was finally taking a turn for the better following the weeks of drama. I poured every ounce of my energy into my training, and I was getting incredibly good. I knew I had to move forward. Living in the past had only made me reckless and pained, I knew I was capable of so much more. Even though I still loved her with everything in me, I had to do better for myself and for my family. I had noticed her watching me from the stands a few times during practice, but I always forced myself to look away and act completely focused. God, I loved every single bit of her presence. Even when she wouldn't speak a word to me, just knowing she was there meant everything. Then came the race of my life, the one that would ultimately decide my future. I lined up against the top runners in the state, all of us competing for a single spot on the national team. The event was held on a much grander stadium field than I had ever run on before. Because I had put an immense amount of w

Lucille’s pov The interview was finally over, but the aftermath was descending on my life too fast. I had foolishly expected the interview to be natural and easygoing, I hadn’t anticipated that I would owe the public a detailed explanation of my personal life. Now that I had explicitly denied who I was on national television, the weight of my words crushed me. If I ever truly wanted to come out in the future, how could I? I had locked myself in the closet and thrown away the key. My mum looked incredibly proud of how I handled the interrogation, but my dad who was looking much healthier than he had during his stay in the hospital didn't share her enthusiasm. He looked heavy hearted, almost as if he was disappointed in my choice. But this was a sacrifice I had to make to keep my family safe. Now that I had drawn a line on live television, I knew Marcella must have seen it. Her family must have seen it, too. This public denial would force her to keep her distance even more, there
