Lucille’s pov I was already back at school. My dad had gotten a new place for me, he didn't want me anywhere near my mom. He had truly stepped up, transforming into a completely different father from the one I used to know. I remembered exactly how it all happened. The moment she demanded I stop seeing Marcella and apologize to Patrick, I stood up to her and finally found my voice. "No," I had said, my voice low but firm. "What did you say?" she asked, reaching out to grip my arm still holding my chin high. I forcefully pushed her hand aside. "No! No! Mom, No, I won't do it!" I yelled at her. She was visibly stunned by my reaction. Infuriated, she raised the spatula to strike me again. I shielded my face, bracing myself for the impact, but the blow never came. When I looked up, her hand was frozen in mid air. Slowly, she lowered her arm and withdrew. “Lucille, I am giving you two weeks, exactly fourteen days to end it," she said, her voice dropping to a deadly whisper. "If

Marcella’s pov I couldn’t wait for her arrival. I desperately wanted to see her and find out what she had in store for us next. The moment I finished unpacking, I sat on my bed and waited anxiously. Soon after, the sharp chime of the doorbell echoed through the apartment, and I ran out of my room. It was her. She looked entirely new to my eyes, though I think it was just the excitement bubbling up inside me that made me perceive her that way. I was so incredibly glad to see her that I threw my arms around her neck. We laughed playfully as she stepped inside the house, and she immediately pressed a deep, lingering kiss onto my lips. I was ecstatic to finally have my lady back, but as I pulled away, I noticed something different. She had grown leaner. I pulled three step back. "You’ve lost weight," I said out loud, examining her. "Yeah... I've been exercising a lot lately," she replied, offering a soft smile. "You mentioned that on the phone, but I didn't realize just how much u

Lucille’s pov That day, I had just gotten back from class and was planning to head out for my evening track practice. Afterward, I intended to come back, shower, and get ready for my date with Ella later that night. When I arrived at the field, I noticed someone sitting on the hood of a sleek black car, holding a pipe and blowing smoke into the air. It looked like a woman, but I couldn’t see her face clearly. My initial instinct was to mind my own business, but something about her attire looked incredibly familiar. I tried to ignore her and focus on my practice, but then she caught my eye and gestured for me to come over. I ignored her summons, preparing to sprint, when two heavy men stepped into my path, intercepting me. "Excuse me, miss... your attention is needed," one of the men said. I was about to retort angrily, but the next words out of the second guard's mouth made me freeze on the spot. "Mrs. Solis wants to talk to you..." My breath became shaky, but I forced myself t

Lucille’s pov Now I know why he left it, but yet this wasn’t just an ordinary threat. I could sense a danger, something truly bad was about to happen. My entire body felt ice cold, and I dragged myself over to a chair, curling up to comfort myself. Why was all of this happening to me? I felt like an absolute failure. Why couldn’t I just be allowed to be happy? Other people are permitted to love who they want, so why did my own love story feel like an endless form of torture? The very first time I actually felt like myself, my joy was being brutally ripped away from me. I didn't want to fight anymore, I wasn’t winning this battle. I was just a girl in love. I would have gladly faced heaven and earth to be with Ella. I was willing to take the risk, come out, and face whatever public scrutiny came my way just to be with her. It might have affect my career a bit, but I was fully prepared to adapt, the world will adjust at the end of the day. What I absolutely could not do, however,

Lucille pov For a while, everything was working out perfectly for me, my track game, my love life, everything. I had completely forgotten about her threats and his warnings. It was on that exact day that everything fractured in a flash. It was my mom. The moment I answered, she was wailing and sobbing uncontrollably on the other end. "Mom... what's wrong?" I asked, my voice filled with fear. But she just kept crying, and the tears were honestly beginning to get on my nerves. "Can you please just talk to me?" I begged through her sobs. She paused for a brief moment to catch her breath. "It's your dad. He was stabbed on his way home from work... he's in the hospital." Her words hit me like a physical blow, throwing me completely off the edge. I stood there, utterly speechless. Was this actually true, or was it just another one of her mindless pranks? "Which hospital...?" I asked, my breath catching in my throat as I started to shake. "Milan Hospital," she sniffed, her voice cr
