ADRIENNE Growing up, I got used to searching and longing for the warmth and love that my own family denied giving me. I got used to being alone. Every time I fall, I am the only one finding a way to stand back up, even when the impact of my fall was incredibly heavy. And whenever I fail at things, especially in terms of my academics, my family comes in full force to rub in my face how weak I am. How useless I was. How stupid I was made. Yet, when I succeed at something, not a single person in my family comes forward to congratulate me nor celebrate with me.
