บททั้งหมดของ My Ex-husband Billion Dollar Mistakes : บทที่ 21 - บทที่ 30

(Beatrice’s POV)I stood in the center of the master suite, my heart thumping against my ribs like a trapped bird. Everything I had worked for, the house, the clothes and the man… all of this depended on the next sixty minutes.Today is the D-day.I turned to the tall gold mirror and looked at myself in the reflection.I looked like a total mess, but that was not the point now. I had spent twenty minutes pulling at my hair until it fell in messy tangles. I rubbed my eyes with my knuckles until the skin was red and puffy. I looked like a woman who had been crying for hours, a woman losing everything."You think you’re so high and mighty now, don't you, Nichole?" I whispered looking at my reflection in the mirror. "You think you can just walk out of here, find a billionaire, and leave me behind? Not today."I felt a surge of pure jealousy inside me. Every time I turned on the news lately, there she was. Nichole Vance, is now the "Corporate Phoenix, powerful, beautiful, and she had Xa

(Beatrice pov)I did everything right tonight. The plan had worked like a watch. Nichole had walked into the trap I set for her, and the police arrived at the perfect moment. But it hasn't finished yet. I was still alone. My husband is not yet back, I needed Raymond to see what I had done.I waited and he didn't come home until half past midnight. Then after what looked like forever, I heard his keys jingle, while he walked towards the door bell walking clumsily like a man who had stayed out late to avoid coming home. When he entered the living room and saw me on the couch and stopped."You’re still up," he asked surprised with his voice thick with exhaustion."I’ve been waiting for you."He loosened his tie. Raymond wasn't an ugly man, but years of chasing things had made him have deep lines in his face. He slumped into the armchair across from me."What happened here?" he asked as he looked around. "The neighbors were texting me, that they saw police cars in my house. What happene

(Nichole’s Pov)The cell door closed behind me and the sound of it went through my entire body finally. The officer had taken my phone at the desk downstairs, held out a plastic tray without looking at me. Well, I don't blame her because that's how they treated most of the unfortunate ones in this prison. I placed it there towards her, like I was handing over something I wasn't sure I would get back. Then she walked me down a corridor that smelled of bleach and old air and unlocked a door and gestured me inside.I have no lawyer yet, no explanation of how long I will be here. Just four walls and narrow bench along one side, and a light overhead that buzzed faintly and never fully flickered off.I sat down on the bench, put my hands on my knees and for a long moment I just sat there and breathed, trying so hard not to think about anything at all…. but it didn't work.My father's thoughts came to me first, the one who had left me since I was seven years old. Twenty years of grief for a m

(Nichole's Pov)I leaned my head against the window, my skin still felt itchy from the smell of the police station and that mix of old coffee and cold floors. Beside me, Xavier’s hands were tight on the wheel, he hadn't said a word since we left.My phone buzzed in my lap. I didn't want to look, but I did. It was a text from Raymond.“You think you’re safe? You’ve just traded one cage for another. Tell your ‘hero’ to back off. If Xavier keeps digging, “I won’t just ruin you, I’ll make sure he disappears. Don’t let his blood be on your hands.”A chill ran through me as I looked at Xavier who looked exhausted. He had stayed up all night for me, and now Raymond was threatening his life."What is it?" Xavier asked, not even noticing the tension in my eyes as he was busy driving."Nothing," I said, quickly hiding the phone. "It's just a random message."“A message?” He looked at me then. He didn't believe me. He just pulled the car over to the curb and stopped, he didn't even turn off the

(Beatrice pov)I was shaking, and it wasn’t because of the cold.Raymond’s words looped in my head as it kept replaying inside of me. ‘It’s your fault. It’s your fault.’ The more I replayed them, the hotter my anger burned, the kind that settles into your bones and refuses to go.I had given Raymond everything. I handled the messes, both good and bad, even had to sell my conscience at a point to satisfy him. For years, I’ve lived under his command even when I knew it wasn't right. I ruined Nichole's relationship and because he couldn't get his eyes off me. I have moved in the shadows of his ambition, staying small so he could stand tall. But tonight, he looked at me as if I were his greatest failure, rather than the reason he still had a life worth protecting. At one point, my tears surprised me. I hated that he saw me break and I had spent a lifetime making sure he saw me as a pillar, and tonight I had looked weak. I couldn't undo that moment, but I could redirect the energy this t
