Chapter 1: Meeting the Devil

LUCIAI met the devil the morning after my twentieth birthday. A buzz from my phone jolted me awake, and I scrambled to search for my phone. When I got a hold of it, I picked the call without checking the caller ID.“Lucia, downstairs, five minutes, now!” The call ended. Those four words made me jump out of my bed immediately. I didn’t even need to check the caller id anymore. From the voice, I knew it was my dad. But what I was worried about was the sharpness and tone of his voice on the call. The call might have been short and sudden, but I could figure that there was something wrong.I hurriedly dressed up in the nearest clothes I could find, and headed downstairs. I left my hair unattended, not even caring about how I looked. All I just wanted to do was get downstairs and find out what was going on.On getting there, I was shocked to find unknown men lined up at the doorway of my father’s study room. My heart sank as my steps grew slower. What was happening? Who were these hefty

Chapter 2: Escape gone wrong

LUCIAAccept my fate? That was a whole load of crap. I was going to find a way out of this mess by all means. I would never get married against my own will.I shoved the few clothes I could find in my wardrobe into my small suitcase. I didn’t want to take much for easy carriage so I limited my things as much as possible, only taking things I would necessarily need. When I figured I had grabbed everything I needed, I made to move. Now, I knew escaping wouldn’t be easy, because as a mafia Don, my father had planted cameras everywhere for safety. But that wasn’t going to stop me.I knew all the routes of the CCTV’s by heart, and I already figured out the blindspots. My plan was simple and I was sure it would work.I climb out of my room window, and wait till the guards exchange shifts. They do that at exactly 12:00pm, and it was currently 11:55pm, just five minutes. While the guards rotate, I would swiftly move within the camera's blindspot to not be seen. After I have successfully pass

Chapter 3: One step ahead

ALEJANDROThe little one was quite optimistic and fiesty but it’s a shame that I had to crush all her hopes into pieces. She was no match for me. I could see through all her schemes and all her escape plans.I was always one step ahead of her, no matter what.I knew she had plans of trying to escape immediately the plane lands, and I was going to make that impossible for her. I already informed my guards to be alert around her and to not let her out of their sight.Any one who fails or defiles me, would face grim consequences. They do not call me the devil for no reason. My head turned to the peaceful, sleepy Lucia, and I shook my head. How could she sleep so peacefully in this situation? One minute she was all over the place, kicking and cursing at me for taking her away from her weakling of a boyfriend, who has been cheating on her, the next she is sleeping peacefully like she has no care in the world.I smirked. The plane landed shortly after, and I gave her a gentle tap.“Let’s g

Chapter 4: One way ticket to escape

LUCIAI can’t believe he tried to shoot me!I almost lost my life in a country that I didn't live in, with a man I barely knew.Oh shit. The cold metal touch still sent shivers down my spine anytime I remembered what happened minutes ago. I didn’t expect that, that was going to happen.I just wanted to escape, but instead, a gun was placed directly on my forehead.I felt scared at that moment. A type of fear I had never felt before. It was like he meant it when he said he was going to kill me there and then if I didn't cooperate. My life was now in his hands and there was nothing I could do.We both sat in the passenger’s seat quietly. After I had asked him for my phone and he had said no, I decided to just keep quiet, and try to rethink everything.I knew a gun wasn’t going to stop me.I may have been scared shitless when he placed that gun on my head, but that wasn’t going to stop me from escaping in the later days.I would leave this place even if it takes me weeks to plot a perfe

Chapter 5: Carlos’ phone

LUCIAKnowing that Carlos had the same thought as me just made this whole shit a lot different. It felt like I now had a good chance of escaping and getting out of Alejandro’s grip.We just had to figure out a good plan, one strong enough to make Alejandro stop the wedding. Or if he doesn’t, a plan strong enough for Carlos and I to stop the wedding.I paced intently around my room, thinking of a way out of this mess. Anything at all. There had to be something. There had to be a plan we can set in motion for this wedding not to hold.“What are you doing?” Carlos asked, and I looked up at him. His eyes lurked on me filled with confusion and partly disgust? I couldn’t tell but I wasn't going to let him look at me that way.It wasn’t my fault that we were in this situation. For all I know, I was just scooped up from my fence and thrown into a car, then shipped to Italy to be married off.Definitely wasn’t on my to do list when I woke up this morning.I stopped moving, “what do you think

Chapter 6: Order

LUCIA“Dad, what do you mean you are confiscating my phone?" I heard Carlos say from God knows where and I saw my last glimmer of hope crumble before me.My throat tightened and my grip on the door handle stilled. There goes the little hope I had. “It’s only until the wedding” Alejandro’s cold voice rang through the hallway and I felt my belly pound in disgust.Wedding? No fucking wedding was going to happen. I was getting out of here before that scumbag would even think about marrying me into his family.Irritation coursed through my veins, and I released my grip on the handle. Footsteps echoed through the hallway and I turned to the direction of the sound.Carlos popped out, clearly looking pissed and frustrated. He walked closer to me “I'm…I'm sorry. I got to my room and I found out my phone wasn’t there, only to realize my father had taken it” he tried to apologize.I shook my head, and smiled. There was no need to apologize. This wasn’t even his fault. It was that Devil’s fault.

Chapter 7: Swapped for power

LUCIANow that the words slipped out of my mouth, I was starting to realize that maybe I shouldn't have actually said that. Because the instant the words left my mouth, Alejandro paused in his tracks and then he turned. The corner of his eyes darkened as he stared sternly at me. Then his brows furrowed.“What did you just say to me Lucia?” He asked coldly. My heart dropped. It dropped deep down to my belly. My stomach instantly felt heavy and I felt sweat start to trickle down my face, but I kept a straight face.I may have said things out of place, I may have overstepped my boundaries by speaking to him in that manner, but I know one thing for sure. I was right. He had no right whatsoever to order me around. I wasn’t some runway puppet that he could move around with his hands. I was human like him too, and I had feelings. Not that he had any to be honest. He was practically heartless.I kept quiet and didn’t respond to his question. I guess this got him really pissed because within

Chapter 8: A plan in motion

LUCIAAs I stood motionless in the center of the hallway, I still wanted to believe that this whole shit that Alejandro just pulled was a lie. There was no way in hell my father would give his daughter up for power. It just didn’t seem possible. What about the father-daughter moments we spent together? The promises he made to my dead mother to take care of me and my brothers, was he throwing all that away for some wretched power? My eyes lingered soullessly on the wall, thoughts spiraling through my head. If this was really true, does this mean I was no longer welcomed at home? If I eventually escape from this cage, would I have nowhere to go? The only place I could call home had given up on me and now I was alone. “Lucia?” I felt a hand tug on my elbow and I looked up. Carlos was standing right in front of me, worry laced in his gaze.“Are you okay?” He asked, but I couldn't even answer. Was I okay? I didn’t know. I didn’t know what to feel, what to think, what to even do. Every

Chapter 9: See through her

ALEJANDROI could see through her like a thin piece of clothing. I knew what she was trying to do. She was trying to push my buttons, she was trying to push me to the edge so I could snap and call everything off.I knew her plans. I knew Lucia like the back of my palm. I knew what she was capable of.And that wasn’t going to happen. She was getting married to Carlos whether she liked it or not.Her father sold her to me and now she was mine. I could do fit, whatever I wanted with her and that was for her to marry my son and bear an heir for the Delgado clan.My eyes lurked coldly on the overly excited Lucia sitting close to me. Her quick change of behavior wasn’t surprising to me. In fact I had expected it. I had expected her to pull off something huge like this. I wanted to see how far she could go.“So what’s for dinner Alejandro?” She asked excitedly, but I didn't respond. Instead, I called on Miguel to bring the food in.Miguel and some maids walked in a few seconds later, with tr

Chapter 10: Hefty bags of clothes

LUCIAI stormed out of Alejandro’s office pissed out of my wits. How the heck was I going to make a man I could barely stand his guts fall in love with me? “Argh!” I groaned as thoughts of what happened previously in his office came rushing back. What does he mean by absolutely not? Was he just going to ignore the fact that i barely flew here with anything on me?He obviously knew that I needed new clothes. Because of him I couldn't even take proper clothes from home and now he doesn’t even want me to get some? That is just so cruel of him.I strolled back to my room feeling defeated. Part of me thought there was a slim chance of me attempting an escape if he had allowed me to go out and the other part really just wanted to get new clothes for myself. The clothes I shoved roughly in my suitcase wouldn’t even be enough for me to spend two days here. I had thought I could buy new clothes and all when I escaped but now I didn’t even have access to my phone or any cash.I got to my room
