LUCIA

I can’t believe he tried to shoot me!

I almost lost my life in a country that I didn't live in, with a man I barely knew.

Oh shit.

The cold metal touch still sent shivers down my spine anytime I remembered what happened minutes ago. I didn’t expect that, that was going to happen.

I just wanted to escape, but instead, a gun was placed directly on my forehead.

I felt scared at that moment. A type of fear I had never felt before. It was like he meant it when he said he was going to kill me there and then if I didn't cooperate.

My life was now in his hands and there was nothing I could do.

We both sat in the passenger’s seat quietly.

After I had asked him for my phone and he had said no, I decided to just keep quiet, and try to rethink everything.

I knew a gun wasn’t going to stop me.

I may have been scared shitless when he placed that gun on my head, but that wasn’t going to stop me from escaping in the later days.

I would leave this place even if it takes me weeks to plot a perfect and foolproof plan.

I wasn’t going to be a wife to a man who I didn't even know if he liked me or if he had ever seen me or my pictures before.

Not going to happen.

The car pulled to a stop, and I realized that we had arrived in front of a building.

A middle age man walked towards us after the car was parked, and from his dressing and mannerism, i knew he was the building’s butler.

“Welcome Miss…” he greeted me.

“Lucia” i replied calmly.

“Welcome Miss Lucia”

“Miguel. Take her to one of the guest rooms, that is where she will stay until the wedding” I heard Alejandro say, and I shot him a cold glare.

“I hate you…” i muttered coldly and began to walk away.

I followed the butler closely behind, and just as I wanted to step in right after the butler, I felt a wave then someone pass swiftly in front of me.

It happened so fast, that I only caught a whiff of a face.

The man stormed towards Alejandro, and the words he said next made me realize instantly who he was.

“What the fuck dad?” He said, and my eyes widened.

That was Carlos, his son?

Wow. He didn’t look as young as I thought. From his appearance and looks, he looked like he was in his mid twenties.

Probably like twenty sixish? I don’t know, but he didn’t look as young as i had expected.

This got me wondering though. How old is Alejandro, if his son was like this?

Because Alejandro didn’t look old one bit. He looked like he could be in his mid or late thirties. From his broad structure, firm looking body and his handsome face, he didn’t look old at all.

How old is he to have a son this age?

I wondered.

Alejandro pointed at me, and my brows furrowed.

“Won’t you like to greet your wife Carlos? She just came from a long journey”

My eyes widened.

“I’m not his wife!” I screamed at him, my hands shaking in anger.

What the hell?

I stormed into the room. I didn’t want to be anywhere around him. He annoyed me.

I walked in to find the butler still waiting for me. He continued walking immediately he saw me, and I followed suit.

We took the stairs to the second floor, and then we turned till a door appeared at the ending of the hallway.

Butler Miguel, opened the door with one of his numerous keys and we walked in.

My little box was placed by my bed, and i sat on it.

I loved the soft feeling the mattress gave me. It made me want to catch a few hours of sleep after all i had been through.

“If you need me for anything Ms. Lucia, please don’t hesitate to call me. The phone by the bedside would connect to me directly when you press the number nine, and i would come to your aid” Butler Miguel, said and i nodded.

“Okay, thank you” i said.

“Now if you will excuse me” he made to leave but then i stopped him.

“Wait…” i stood up from my bed.

“Can I…ask you a few questions?” I asked, and he immediately nodded.

“Yes miss. Anything at all”

Good. I wanted to ask questions about Alejandro and i knew that if there was anyone who would know him better it had to be the butler. And he looked like he had been working with this family for many years.

Just perfect.

“Ehm… what is Alejandro like?” I asked as i moved closer.

His eyes widened, like he hadn’t expected me to ask that type of questions. Even I myself, couldn’t understand why i asked.

But i just knew i wanted to know more about him.

Maybe it was my will to escape? I didn’t know.

Butler Miguel slightly bowed his head like he was looking for words to say.

“I…I don’t know what to say, but all i can say is Don Alejandro is kind”

Kind? Really? A man who pointed a gun at my head and threaten to leave a bullet in my skull is nice?

Yeah right. What else is he good at? Being loving, exceptionally good with kids?

What a whole load of bullshit.

“Wow really?” I asked, like I was shocked.

“Yeah.”

I expected him to say more, but he kept quiet and i knew this wasn’t going to work.

“Okay you can leave”

He left immediately and i was left alone in this gigantic room with no hope of escaping for now.

I was trapped here, like a captive.

This stunned me. At home i could move freely at will, go to parties and picnics without my dad screaming my ear off, all i had to do was take a guard along with me.

But here, I wasn't even allowed to have a phone.

It sucked, and it was driving me crazy. I have to get out of here soon.

I walked over to the window, and peeped out.

The downstairs was filled with guards. If I’m escaping, the window was off limits. I had to find another escape route.

Fuck!

I walked back to my bed and laid down.

I don’t know how many hours passed, but soon enough i heard a knock on my door.

I wasn’t expecting anyone and I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be who I saw at the door.

I pulled the door open and Carlos was standing right in front of my door.

What? Was he here to claim me as his wife?

The thought irked me.

“What is it?” I asked coldly, as i stood in between the door frame.

“Can i come in?” He looked tired and exhausted, like he didn’t want to be here but he had to.

I didn’t want to let him in at first. I thought about shutting the door on his face, but at the end of the day was it really going to be worth it?

Maybe letting him in would yield up an escape plan or something. Maybe i could let him know straight forward that i wasn’t interested in getting married to him.

I opened the door fully and he stepped in.

“Listen. I’m going to put it plainly. I’m not interested in getting married to you” i said immediately he got in and i shut the door.

“Me too” I heard him say and I paused.

“What? Really?” I asked, unsure if I heard correctly.

“Yes. I don’t want to get married to you. I have someone I love” A smile appeared on my lips as I heard those words.

Oh my! This is going to make things easier.

“Okay!” I began to pace around the room.

“This just made things easier,” I added.

“I came here for us to find a way out of this. We need to cancel this wedding at all cost” he muttered and i nodded almost immediately.

“Yes, i agree. This wedding must not hold”

My chest tightened in joy as i felt a pang of happiness. This was my one way ticket to getting out of here.

“What do you suggest we do?” Carlos asked.

I smirked.

“Let’s make this wedding not hold”

He looked exhausted, like he didn’t want to be here and he would rather use his precious time for something better.Dr. Sanchez I mean, not Alejandro. He got to where I was and pushed out a faint smile. “Good morning Signora Lucia” “Good morning Dr. Sanchez” I greeted back.“Don Alejandro contacted me that you have an issue with your health?” He muttered as he looked at Alejandro then back at me.An issue with my health? My brows furrowed slightly. Was that how he worded it?I shook my head and smiled “No…i’m fine, I just woke up with a mild headache this morning. But i’m fine now, it was just something minimal” I responded so confidently like I wasn’t just about to literally pass out some minutes ago.Mild? Minimal? Heck, Lucia, you couldn’t even stand still at a point. My eyes darted to Alejandro for some weird reason that my brain couldn’t fathom. He held a blank expression, with his hands stuffed into

LUCIAThe air was thick with silence. The world felt like it had suddenly stopped moving and time had paused.Carlos stood rooted in front of me. I couldn’t see his facial expression but I knew his countenance had definitely changed. He moved his hand backwards, and grabbed one of my hands, giving it a gentle reassuring rub. The kind of gentle rub that spoke of me not worrying and leaving everything to him.“What do you mean, Dad?” He asked.“I mean she goes nowhere Carlos. Take her back inside” I heard Alejandro reply immediately, his voice cold to the touch.“Why father? She needs immediate medical attention. She’s weak” Carlos tried to reason with Alejandro, but I guess he had already made up his mind.Because all Alejandro said was "I will call Doctor Sanchez” then he began to walk away. The sudden headache that I woke up with this morning slowly started to vanish. I stood there frozen in place wondering what the fuck I was expecting to happen? Did I really think there was a chanc

LUCIATHE NEXT DAYMy morning came with a splitting headache. A sharp pain shot through the right side of my head aggressively waking me up in groans. It felt like they were poking thousands of needles directly into my head. I sat up but I quickly laid back down when it felt like my head was going to fall off. “Augh!” I took my hand to my head, giving it a light rub. What was the sudden pain I woke up with? I was totally fine last night before I went to sleep. Although, I felt extremely weak and tired. Was that the reason? A series of thoughts ran through my head that at a point it started becoming straining to even think.Anyway, I knew I had to get up from this bed to seek help or something. My head turned to the landline by the night stand. I stood up and slowly walked over. I remembered the first day I had arrived here that Miguel had asked me to press a number to page him anytime I needed him. I stared at the landline for seconds trying to remember the exact number he talked

ALEJANDRO The moment I left Lucia, I was back in my room glancing through paperworks, not because i wanted to but because i couldn’t get my mind off what the fuck I just did.My thoughts rallied with questions about why I did what I did. Why did I apologize to her right at that moment?I never planned to.The instant I saw her walk through the dining room and into the kitchen, all I had in mind was to question her about why she skipped dinner. But right then, when she spoke about how vulnerable she felt in that room, something in me snapped. And I let those words out. I sighed and leaned back into my reclined chair, my hand fixed to the back of my head. My eyes locked on the papers scattered on the table for a few seconds and I used my free hand to toss it away further.I knew there wasn’t anything important I was doing on there. My eyes were initially just fixed on it because I couldn't get the thought out of my head. My head slumped backwards and my eyes closed. The scene in the

My body stiffened.“Wh…what are you doing Alejandro?” I said as I tried to push myself out of his grip. His grip tightened around my waist and he pulled me closer, closer than I should be around him.“Why do you keep speaking to me in that manner, Piccola?” He asked, staring right at me.~Little one.Directly into my soul. For a moment, I forgot that I was supposed to be angry at him. I forgot I was supposed to hate him and rain curses on him. Instead, I was captivated by his golden brown eyes that lurked on me.“I…i…i” I tried to speak, to let out words, but nothing was coming out.It was like my tongue had been tied.He took his eyes off my eyes and down to my lips then back up. “Speak” he muttered in the most calmest way ever. And I obeyed. LUCIA HOURS LATER~EVENING A call from the landline aggressively woke me up. My body became conscious before my brain even did. I sprang up from my bed and blindly threw my hands to the phone on the nightstand. I picked it up and absentmindedly placed it to my ear. I let out a sleepy groan. “Signora Lucia? Dinner is ready?” Miguel’s voice sounded from the other side. My brain seemed to come back to its setting at those words. I slowly opened my eyes and looked outside. The world was already dark. What time was it and how long have I been sleeping? “Hmm?” “Signora? I said dinner is ready” he repeated, probably thinking that I didn’t hear him the first time. I was about to tell him that I was coming downstairs when my mind rewinded to what happened hours earlier. My face formed a frown. There was no way I was going down for dinner. I didn’t want to see him at all. “I’m not coming down for dinner Miguel,” I said coldly. “Ms. Lucia…” Miguel was about to say some
