Vienne's POV

I stared at my phone. More like stared at the contact I was about to text.

‘Where are you?’ _ Vienne

Before I could think any further I sent the message to Damon. The reason why I was thinking so hard and long before texting the Calloway guy, I could not tell.

The message got sent and delivered. In less than a minute, the reply came.

‘What?’ _ Damon

Even if I could feel and almost sense his disapproval, I can't help the uncertain and indescribable feeling spreading through my chest. I wasn't used to quick responses from most people. My parents would text back after two days. Ryan would almost not even text back.

‘what do you mean what? School's over. Get over here and let me keep my end of the bargain. Let's meet for your tutoring session’ _ Vienne.

And with that, I shut my phone, done with texting and not expecting any reply. But lo and behold, my phone vibrated once more, lighting up with a notification.

I'm still at practice. Hang around or come over. Your choice’_ Damon.

And his reply got me staring at the screen for seconds in disbelief. Is it me ?, or Calloway is sounding rude?

Whatever. Hanging around would bore me out to death hence, I made my way to the basketball court. I don't watch the school's basketballers play; I have never. Over the years, I've only seen and cheerled for the soccer team, not that I'm a fan of these games. All for Ryan.

I plopped my ass down on one of the spectators’ seats. I'm not even surprised I'm the only one around to watch. It's just the players, me and the coach yelling out instructions and commands.

For a few seconds, his eyes found me and he paused mid throw, staring at me with a frown.

What?

“What on earth are you looking at, Calloway? Throw!” The coach suddenly yelled, causing even me to flinch a bit.

And there, the boy made his shot into the high net.

Smooth.

Clean.

Perfect.

And effortlessly.

“Oh!” I couldn't help the tiny exclamation that escaped my lips in astonishment. But I wouldn't want to draw attention to myself.

Students had whispered about how good he was; I never got to see but now I can say he deserves his accolades.

Wait

Wouldn't want to draw attention to myself?

What was I thinking?

Quickly, I pulled out my cellphone and turned away from the court. I held out my phone in front view camera and when Damon ran through the screen I took a clean shot. The picture captured us.

Perfect.

40 minutes went by.

6:20 pm, the time said.

I watched the team who had gathered around their coach, dispersed and he walked over to my seat. I raised my brows.

Why were his mates going the other way, obviously to shower and he was walking over?

He stood, towering over me and looking down at me

“What?”

“What do you mean what? Practice is over” he stole my line from earlier.

“Obviously, but you should be getting a shower like your mates. You're all sweaty” I gestured all over him.

“So?”

Are you kidding me?

“I can't have you seated with me for hours covered in sweat, Calloway.” I frowned

“Tough shit, Reyes. I don't have all day. So please just overlook it. Or deal with it” he grumbled out while walking away.

I scoffed, grabbing my bag. “It's late; we can't go to your place anymore. Let's use the library instead”

He only let out an unbothered hum instead; it hinted at how he could care less about the location.

I frowned at the answer Damon had provided on the sheet. There's no way I would be hiding my surprise at his so-called answer. I tore my gaze from the sheet to his face. He sat there confidently and nonchalantly.

This was hopeless and clearing whatever doubt about his tanking gaze.

“You've got to be kidding me” I muttered to him.

“What?”

“It's probability Damon. And we aren't dealing with variables. I don't know and I don't want to know how you arrived at having ‘5a’ as an answer here” I looked over at the working and stopped immediately; it was about to cause me a headache. “Your answer should be 8/16” I muttered

Damon just raised a brow.

“You do this just like the first example. Look, it's not that hard. It_”

“Easy for you to say”

“wouldn't you love to pay attention then?” I sneered at him.

He sighed as his eyes fell on whatever I was beginning to scribble down in his note. As the time slowly ticked by, the rapt attention went undisturbed.

I carefully stuffed my books and pen into my bag. “Please, dedicate 40 minutes of your day to revising the jotter”

“I don't have time”

“Stop being so lazy. You gave over 45 minutes to basketball Damon. Balance it up and stop giving excuse”

What followed was a dark low chuckle.

“Careful. Watch your tone and don't make it start seeming like you're ordering me around”

I threw him a look. Isn't he some arrogant little thing?

“I could say the same to you. Next time, remind me to add please”

He threw me a steely gaze as he rose to his feet too, getting his bag and stuff together. We were done

“I'm leaving. See you tomorrow, Calloway. And make sure you have your shower before going to bed” I asked him before heading out. The driver was already waiting for me in the almost deserted and dark school premises. I hopped in.

Vienne's POVI calmly made my way to the class for the fourth period of the day. I was late all because of the meeting with a few members of the science club as I was the president.I stepped into the classroom; my eyes scanned through the whole class and my eyes fell on Ryan's seat. His former seat partner was some other guy but now, guess who?Amelia sat there confidently like it's her throne, and upon finding my gaze on her, she threw me a tiny taunting smile. I bet she doesn't even know what she looks like doing that.Hideous.I looked away from her to Ryan instead and he just glanced at me then looked away like I was some nobody. Like we weren't a thing some weeks ago. That hurts. My seat had always been in the row behind Ryan's and throughout this period, I'd been managing myself in the class. But God knows how I would cope with those two right in front of me. Amelia would make sure I get the best view of her and Ryan's good time.I can practically feel everyone's stare on me.

Damon's POVThe swift passing of buildings and trees finally stopped as I pulled over my bike at the apartment basement. I got rid of my helmet and quickly chained my bike to a pole; I'm not risking what I had worked hard for to some sleazy thieves in the neighborhood. They could be crazy.7:48pm , the time read.I hurried towards the convenience store of the four storey building at the floor level and there, I found my minx. She's not so little though. 14, but she'd always be little to me. Dawn glared at me with a scowl.“You said 7 pm Damon!” She yelled, rising to her feet and startling the store keeper who finally looked up.“My bad” I grumbled out while pursing my lips. Of course I was guilty.“You took quite a while, Damon. I was about to close the store.“Something came up” “You could have texted me something, still” Dawn continued sourly.“I apologized. What more do you want?” I grabbed her bag.“That's not all it is. I've been waiting and starving” A brow of mine rose; that

3rd person POVOf course, news travels fast…Ryan raised an arrogant brow as he stared at the picture of Vienne and that of the scholarship boy in the school's group. He'd seen the one from the other night at the club house. The latest one was from just this morning and it was one of them holding hands and walking along the corridor. What was Vienne thinking?.Just then two of his friends strolled in.“Talk about crazy, Ryan. Isn't Vienne one?” Shawn said plopping down beside him.“The scholarship boy, really?” Seth laughed. And his laughter somehow irked him, causing a twitch on his lips. That had felt like a mockery from Seth. That was it.“Is that supposed to be funny?” He threw humourlessly at him causing the laughter on his lips to die a bit.“Relax…” Seth said, trying to stop his smile, but he couldn't help it, he passed a glance at Shawn who seemed to be in the same dilemma.“Relax Ryan. It's just funny” Shawn said to him trying to touch his arm which was flipped instead. This

Vienne's POVThe east entrance of Minerva High buzzed with the usual morning chaos, but today it felt like a stage. I arrived at 7:40 sharp, heart hammering harder than it had during yesterday’s library meeting. My uniform was an immaculate crisp white blouse tucked into the pleated skirt, subtle heels adding height, hair falling straight and glossy down my back. I carried Damon’s jacket in my bag again, just in case.Today the performance began.I spotted him before he saw me. Damon leaned against the stone pillar near the entrance, gym bag at his feet, dark hair still slightly damp from an early practice. He wore the standard uniform but made it look effortlessly rebellious, tie loosened, sleeves rolled up to reveal toned forearms. When his green eyes found mine, he straightened and walked over without rushing.“Morning, Reyes,” he mumbled slowly, enough that only I could hear. A faint smirk tugged at his lips. “You look like you're going to battle.”I adjusted the strap of my bag.

Vienne's POV*I stepped into the school library which had always been a place of sanctuary to me. But today, it felt like a battlefield.I arrived there at 3:55 pm, Damon’s folded jacket tucked neatly inside my bag. My hair was pulled into a sleek ponytail, makeup light but flawless enough to hide the remnants of last night’s hangover. I chose a corner table on the second floor, private enough for a serious conversation. At exactly 4:02, the door to the stairwell opened. Damon Calloway strolled in, still in his basketball practice gear; dark shorts, a fitted gray hoodie damp and gym bag slung over one broad shoulder. A few strands falling into those piercing green eyes. And I frowned at how I was paying so much attention to his appearance. He scanned the room once and spotted me before walking over without hesitation. He took his seat in the chair across from me, the wood creaking under his weight. Up close, he looked even taller than I remembered from the club. What was I expecting
