Chapter 1. Unexpected encounter

The locker room was buzzing with noise as players stormed in straight from practice. Their hockey sticks clatter against benches while other gadgets hit the floor carelessly. Steam was already curling out from the shower areas as curses and laughter echoed off the tiled walls. “Coach Finn talks too damn much,” Nath groaned while yanking his jersey over his head. “We’re literally gonna miss Professor Hale’s lecture if we don't make it snappy.” “Tell that to Captain Noa and Leon,” another teammate laughed. “Those two nearly started another war on the rink.” The atmosphere remained rowdy, but beneath it lingered the tension Coach Finn had warned them about all week. Rivalries were ruining team chemistry, especially the one between Noa and Leon. Noa entered the locker room last, and his shoulders were damp with sweat. His light blond hair stuck slightly to his forehead while his expression screamed irritation. Every shower stall was occupied as water splashed. Guys shouted

Chapter 2. You hate me?

Noa tilted his head slightly, eyes dragging over Leon’s tense expression. “Are you sure about that?" Leon couldn't reply because he knew he was right. His heart had been thudding since he saw him in the shower. He had been trying to control his body from acting up. Water rolled down Leon’s neck and chest. Noa’s eyes followed it, making Leon’s situation worse. He could feel his breathing coming fast and uneven. He took a step closer again. Leon stepped back. He moved, and Leon moved until his back was against the tiled wall. He stepped closer yet again, placing his hand on the wall. Not enough for their body to touch, but enough for Leon to feel trapped. “Don't touch me, don't move, and listen,” Noa said almost in a whisper. Leon stood still like an obedient boy but avoided Noa’s eyes as they roamed his face. “You got mad because I looked at you,” Noa murmured. “Then you rushed me like you wanted to kill me.” His gaze darkened slightly. “But your body reacted differe

Chapter 3. Make it romantic

The moment Professor Hale dismissed the class, the lecture hall erupted with noise. Chairs scraped against the floor. Students hurried to pack their bags and rushed out to the cafeteria. Leon had barely zipped up his bag when Sebastian hooked an arm around his immediately. “You must be starving,” Sebastian said brightly. “Come to lunch with me.” Leon stiffened slightly at the sudden closeness. “Sebastian, you…” “Oh no.” Sebastian gasped dramatically. “Sweetheart, please, make the name sound a little romantic. Call me Sab, hmm.” He told Leon, making a funny face. Leon nearly winced. Damn it, this guy is trouble. He seriously had no shame. Noa thought, yet he sighed in defeat. “Okay…" Sab.” He forced a smile as he gently unhooked Sebastian’s arm from his. “Please stop making me uncomfortable. I’m not your boyfriend.” Sebastian clutched his chest like he’d been stabbed. “Ouch. You keep hurting my feelings.” Leon rolled his eyes. “Leon, I know I’m not your

Chapter 4. Flustered

Both guys stared at him in surprise. He sounded very annoyed. “Come on, Cap. Let it go already. Coach had settled things after practice.” Vic immediately jumped in. “Exactly,” Nath agreed. “Leon was rough during training, but honestly? That rookie is good.” Noa stared at them blankly for a second before realization hit him. They thought he was still annoyed about what happened in the rink. Unknown to them was the fact that something more serious had transpired in the shower stall. He was actually annoyed with Leon for flirting with Sebastian. The memory of their shower had been torturing him all afternoon, but Leon sat there and smiled as if it was nothing. “Damn it,” Noa muttered to himself. His jaw clenched tightly as his eyes drifted back toward Leon again. He was laughing softly at something Sebastian whispered. And for some reason, that irritated Noa more. He left the cafeteria with annoyance. The rest of the afternoon passed slowly. Classes ended

Chapter 5. Interrupted

The sudden burst of loud voices outside the stall instantly snapped both of them back to reality. The restroom door slammed closed. Students who walked in moved around noisily, laughing and talking over each other. Leon’s eyes flew open fully. At the same time, Noa jerked back slightly. His hand slid away from Leon's cheek. His head pulled back just enough to create breathing space between them. Neither of them moved further, and neither spoke. They stood frozen inside the cramped stall. They stared at each other while their hearts pounded violently. Outside, the students remained completely unaware, talking at the top of their voices and moving around. Water ran from one of the sinks while loud chatter bounced around the restroom walls. “Bro, Coach Finn nearly killed us today.” “I swear my legs are gone.” Another muttered. “You still coming tonight?” The other asked. “I think I will take an excuse, my legs ache badly from that fall.” The guy responded.

Chapter 6. The plight

“I told Dan I’ll pay next week.” “You said that last week, too.” Noa closed his eyes tiredly.“I’m trying. My sister is sick, and I used the cash on me to…” “Save your stories, Noa. Do you think trying matters? Your father owed me a lot. Dead or alive, somebody pays.” The call ended coldly. Noa stared blankly at the screen for several seconds. Then, frustration exploded violently through him. He slammed the locker shut hard enough to startle nearby teammates. “You okay, Cap?” Derek asked carefully this time. “I'm fine.” He wasn’t, not even close. Later that night, Noa stepped out of the convenience store near campus with instant noodles and cheap coffee inside a small paper bag. Cold wind brushed against his face. His body felt unbearably tired.Still, before heading home, he pulled out his phone again like an idiot. His thumb hovered over Diamond’s contact. Then, finally, he typed. “Diamond, you disappeared. Did you forget our promise?” A fe

Chapter 7. The deadline

As Noa turned to leave, he smirked faintly. “Try it. I just blocked two guys this morning. No distractions.” He started toward the door, then paused, glancing back. “Max, it works, so try blocking them.” He almost screamed it. And just like that, he was gone. The silence returned, but it felt heavier. That instant Max’s phone buzzed, startling him. “Damn it,” he cursed and stared at it for a moment. It was a message. He unlocked it. It was from Elias. “You have until tomorrow morning. Don’t forget, I’m the one who is handling your signing into the BIH Club.” Max’s fingers curled slightly as he read on. “And your captain? Noa? He’s a very good defender too. So decide fast. “Damn it…” Max muttered under his breath. His stomach tightened. He shoved the phone into his pocket. “What the fuck should I do about this?” He squatted, his thoughts spiralling. “Losing is bad but losing just once isn't that bad.” He told himself. The practice later that day was a disaster.

Chapter 8. Deal taken

“Yeah, I'm serious.” A grin spread across Noa’s lips, unrestrained now. “God… I can’t wait to see you, my Diamond.” Leon’s voice softened. “And I can’t wait for that hug.” Their eyes locked through the screen. Distance suddenly felt like the only thing standing between them. “Don’t change your mind, please,” Noa said quietly. “I won’t,” Leon replied, just as softly. Then, after a beat, he added, almost shyly, “I wouldn’t even mind… if you gave me my first kiss.” Noa froze. Then, a slow, stunned smile spread across his face. “Wait… your first?” Leon smiled shyly and nodded. “Oh my god, D, you’re…oh my god…” Noa was indeed surprised. For over three years, Noa had known Diamond. They had late-night chats, inside jokes, and confessions whispered through a screen. However, he had never once seen his real face. Not even a glimpse. Not even by accident. All he knew was that Diamond loved hockey almost as much as he played it. He understood him in ways no one

Chaprer 9. Looming consequence

His jaw tightened as he headed out. His mind told him that it might be to remind him, but he was going to tell Elias off. The evening air was cooler outside, but it did nothing to calm him. A yellow cab idled by the street. The door swung open before he could hesitate. Coach Elias stepped out.Sharp suit, with a hat on. Then, a calm smile as if everything was already settled. “Max,” he greeted, like this was just another casual meeting. “Right on time.” Max didn’t move closer. “Why are you here, coach?” Elias didn’t answer immediately. He reached back into the car and pulled out a duffel bag, tossing it lightly toward Max. Max caught it out of instinct. It was heavier than it should’ve been.“What’s in it?” Elias’s smile widened just a fraction. “A part payment.” Silence dropped. Max’s eyes remained on Elias’s smiling face. His fingers tightened around the strap. “After the match tomorrow,” Elias continued smoothly, “you get the balance, and your contract si

Chapter 10. Lies that break

Leon smiled, “Stop staring so hard.” Noa chuckled tiredly. Leon felt it and said, “If it's getting too stressful, just quit.” “You know I can’t. Too many people are counting on me.” Leon’s fingers stilled, and for a second, he imagined what it must feel like to carry that kind of weight. To have people depending on you like that. Then, the thought came to him uninvited. His brother was like Noa, too. Reliable, focused, always pushing forward, no matter what. Leon swallowed but then continued. “It sounds exhausting, but if it gets to you too much, quit, okay.” There was a pause as Noa stared at him with something glistening in his eyes. Then he replied. “It is, but talking to you helps. Anytime I feel too stressed, you make me feel better. I can't wait to hug you, my D.” Leon’s heart thudded on his chest, his cheek flushed with sweet smiles. Noa couldn't see it, but he could feel him. “I need to see your smiles. Since you have no scars, your smiles must b
