Alistair's jaw tightened.“Are you threatening me?” he asked, rising from his office chair with his hands clenched at his sides and the phone pressed tightly against his ear.He should have known from the beginning what it meant to work with a snake like Victoria. The woman was cornered, frightened and desperate, yet somehow, she had still managed to leave herself a way out. Even though fury was burning through him, Alistair couldn't deny that she was clever.Dangerously clever.“Oh no, I think you've got it wrong,” Victoria's sly voice came through the speaker, almost amused by his anger. “I'm not threatening you.”She let out a small laugh before adding, “This is blackmail.”Alistair's nostrils flared.Victoria was trying to drag him down with her, and he needed to find a way to get rid of her permanently. If she started talking, the consequences wouldn't only fall on her. They would reach him.And if the St. Laurents discovered everything, years of planning could crumble overnight.

“You ungrateful bastard!”The slap landed hard across Declan's already bruised cheek. He stumbled back slightly but remained standing, his hands behind his back.“Everything I've done was to secure the future of this family, but now our name is being dragged through the mud because of you!”An hour ago, news of Declan being responsible for Elysia's disappearance from the W Holdings annual banquet had hit the tabloids, and the company's stock had hit an all-time low.Thirty minutes ago, the St. Laurent family's lawyer had called to inform them that the St. Laurents would be taking Declan to court. An email containing a court summons concerning Elysia and Declan's divorce had also been sent.Since Declan had refused to sign the papers for so long, Elysia and her family were now officially dragging his ass to court.Too many damages all at once.Alistair felt suffocated by it all.He couldn't believe everything he'd spent years carefully and meticulously planning was crashing down all ar

The drugs the nurse had administered a few minutes ago were making Victoria hazy.It had been three days since she last heard from Alistair. What was he planning? His silence unsettled her.A man like Alistair Windsor wouldn't just sit back after she threatened him and watch her execute those threats. He would have already been working on a way to shut her up.What unsettled her even more was the fact that since the banquet, she hadn't heard anything from Daniel Windsor either. What exactly were the Windsor brothers planning?Victoria stirred lightly, turning in her hospital bed. This shit was fucking uncomfortable, and the hospital gown was freaking ugly. Her eyelids felt heavy, slowly beginning to droop as the medication pulled her deeper into its effects. Then the door creaked. Slowly. It sounded like whoever was entering the room didn't want to make enough noise to alert her.Victoria wanted to turn around and see who it was.Maybe it was Martha. Or Mrs Whitmore. But something in

“Doctor, are you sure my daughter is going to be okay?” Nicole asked, her voice trembling slightly. “She's been unconscious for three whole days now.”Doctor Heather Grey scribbled something down on her clipboard, glancing attentively at Elysia in the hospital bed each time she paused. She sighed softly, setting the pen down. “She'll be fine, Nicole. Her body just needs time to recover.”Nicole gently bit down on her lower lip. She wasn't satisfied with the answer the doctor had given her, as it did nothing to calm the nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach.“Nicole,” Dr. Grey called gently, stepping closer. “Your daughter being alive today is actually a miracle.”Nicole looked up at Heather, a cold chill running down her spine. Her precious daughter had almost died on that cold, wet beach, and her unborn grandchildren... she had almost lost the opportunity of ever seeing them, all because of that bastard Declan.Kai looked up at the two women from where he was sitting in the c

“What did you just say?” Elysia's eyes widened slightly. She turned her head slowly, sharing a knowing, tense look with her mother and siblings.Nicholas looked away toward the far corner of the room, his jaw tightening slightly, something dark and unreadable flashing through his eyes. Beside him, Camille moved closer to Nicole and held her mother's hand tightly, squeezing her fingers in silence. The topic of their father's sudden death was something they had deliberately avoided talking about for the past five long years, simply because the memory still felt as fresh and painful in their minds as the day it happened.“I said,” Victoria drawled lazily through the speaker, her tone thick with sarcasm. “I may have—no, I have information about your father's death, and possibly the identity of the person who murdered him, too.”Elysia's grip on the cracked glass of her phone tightened until her fingertips turned pale.“Why on earth should I trust a single word coming from you?” Elysia sa
