All Chapters of The Heir's Child: Chapter 81 - Chapter 90

After Mark drops me back off at my house, Raven immediately zeroes in on me. I know that she thinks that there is something going on between Mark and I but he really is just a friend. A really good friend, but a friend nonetheless."So, how'd it go?" She asks me."It went okay...." I say."Really? Because, you were gone like all day. I expected you to be back a couple of hours ago." She says."Oh. I, uh, I fell asleep." I tell her.She snorts as I walk towards the kitchen. We really were gone most of the day and I feel like I have not eaten for days after it being only a few hours."You do not normally just fall asleep. So, what happened?" She asks me."Well, I got comfortable, closed my eyes, and fell asleep. Then we woke up and came right back." I tell her.I wince at the use of the word 'we'. I had not meant to let her know that he was sleeping as well. It was my original plan to just allow her to think that I took a short nap on my own and play it off like nothing odd happened. Of

It is finally time for us to go camping. As I pack the last of my things up, I find my nerves kicking up. Spending the entire weekend in the woods with Mark, seems like I am doing something just a little too crazy for me. "Oh, come on. You already packed up a couple of outfits and moved all of the way across the country. You cannot tell me that you are nervous about camping." Raven says entering my room.I cannot help but shoot her a dirty look as I start making sure that I have everything packed. Luckily, she made me a list to double check after we went shopping."I am not nervous about camping. I am nervous to be spending the entire weekend with Mark." I tell her."Ha! I knew it! You think something is going to happen between you two. In the woods. All alone. All weekend long...." She trails off.My face falls into my hands as I fight a blush. This was not even something that I was nervous about until she pointed it out. Instead, I was nervous about being in the woods, in my natura

Tents up...Check!Water gathered...Check!Fire wood gathered...Check!Air mattresses inflated...Check!Now, we have the most important tasks done. It is time for us to get our fire going so that it is ready for us to cook dinner, and get a few games set up. I am beyond ready to spend the entire weekend out here in the open. Just spending the little bit of time I have already, has made a huge difference in my mood. To top things off, I get to watch Mark struggle with getting the fire to keep going. Every time he gets it burning a little, it either fizzles out, or he gets too excited and smothers it with too much wood. Watching is more than a little entertaining. Especially as he begins getting frustrated. "Do you want help?" I ask him amused."From the Queen of camping?" He asks with a chuckle. When he turns towards me, I am happy to see that while he is annoyed, it is not with me. He is very clearly just annoyed with the fact that he cannot get the fire going. The fact that I was en

That night, I lay in bed and stare up at the stars. I took the waterproof layer off of the top of the tent just so that I would be able to stare at the sky as I fall asleep. As I watch the stars, I listen to the insects chirping outside. I really thought that I would fall asleep as soon as my head touched the mattress but the peacefulness of the night is enough to keep me awake. Not because I am distracted, but because there is just something restful and relaxing about laying outside and enjoying nature. We still have the fire crackling nice and low outside, where I can still keep an eye on it. I assured Mark that as camping Queen, I am more than qualified of making sure that the fire does not spread over night. Luckily, he believed me because I have no way of explaining to him that my wolf will really be the one watching the fire while I am asleep. At least, I am supposed to be asleep. Even as at peace as I am in this moment, I cannot stop thinking about some of the things that Mark

"So, what did you want to do today?" Mark asks.We just finished having eggs and lots of bacon for breakfast. Even I am surprised by how much I ate while we were sitting outside. After eating enough for three people, I still do not feel full but I want to get up and moving."I was thinking that we could go for a walk. I heard a waterfall somewhere close by." I tell him."A waterfall? How can you hear that from here?" He asks in confusion."Oh, must have been extra loud earlier. I definitely heard one earlier though." I tell him.It is hard to remember sometimes that humans cannot hear as well as werewolves. When I heard the waterfall I got excited to go and see it. It did not even cross my mind that Mark would not be able to hear it from here."You must still have some amazing hearing. Even knowing that it is there, I cannot hear it. It is a fairly long walk though." He warns."That is okay. I like to walk. Besides, the doctor says that it is good for me." I say."It is going to be a
