Semua Bab SCORNED BY HIM, DESIRED BY THE THREE: Bab 1 - Bab 10

Bulky. Too tight. Top part too revealing. To crown it all, I detested red for clothes, but the fitting assistant had called it "stunning" and Eddy had nodded in agreement. Now, standing in the quiet living room of our home in Malibu in that same dress, my body feeling not like mine, I waited for Eddy to come downstairs. My hand rose to my eyes for the upteenth time, and just like a call to action, they scanned the face of the golden wristwatch strapped across my wrist. It was exactly the nineteenth time I was doing that while I waited for Eddy. It was a minute past 9pm. I drew in a hard breath. It meant I had been waiting for two hours and I was still going to wait until he comes. Out of boredom this time, I clicked my clutch open and made to pull out my lipstick, but then decided against it. I had already reapplied it four times.I had stood up, sat, stood up and sat again, severally, the back of my thighs had mastered the texture of the cream sofa.Every sound caused me to look up

LOLAFredmon. My ex-boyfriend I had broken up with two years ago to marry the man who was now my husband, my nightmare.Same tall blonde with his jacket hanging loose on his arm like he was fighting the urge to leave it in the trash, his tie unknotted across his neck like a scarf, his plain shirt tucked out with the first few buttons undone, he looked different. Not different in a way that I wasn't able to recognize him immediately. Different because he was here.Official gala events have never been his thing. How did he even get access? How did he get through the rest room door?My head had questions, but my mind wanted something else.I was late to push back the emotions as they came, or maybe I refused to resist.I didn't care that he was looking at me like he had just seen a ghost.I was sure that he had questions. The way his lips parted thinly gave it away.I couldn't explain how what happened next happened. I would think about it later. We would talk about it later or never.T

LOLA"Excuse me?" I said under my breath."You heard me.""I did.""Okay?""I heard you ask me to seduce your best friend before the week ends," I managed, disgust rising through my chest, clean and cold, like water finding cracks."I didn't say seduce. I said ---""Eddison! I am not doing that." My voice was shaky but the words were firm.He didn't back off. He only adjusted in his position, ready to make me want what he wanted. He never listen to me."You don't have to do any extra work. Just do what you have always done. Be present, attentive, involved.""Eddison!" I called out, not a yell, more like a plea for him to not go further.Slowly, he looked away, pathetically, like he was selling an opportunity I wouldn't want to miss."Aren't you tired of enduring a marriage like this?" He inhaled deeply."Don't you think you need to do something to show my father that this marriage isn't working for us?" he asked, his voice serious and his focus sharp on my eyes.Us?He asked like he

FREDMONI turned endlessly on my bed, regretting why I had made the decision to come back to my family.I hated them. I didn't need them. I was doing well in Europe. They appreciate my music. I had a comfortable life, and I slept well.I was this close to booking a flight for the next morning, but Lola was here. Lola Coogan was here. I knew she was here, but I thought I'd be able to ignore whatever feelings I had left for her.I exhaled heavily, my gaze hovering against the darkness in front of me.Drawing up the duvet over my head, I curled myself into a ball and remained still under it. I wish I could crack my head open and pull out that part of my brain that had refused to forget Lola.I was still silently fighting my thoughts when I heard Eddy's voice, deep and persistent like the trouble he represents.Lola? That was my first thought as I jumped off my bed. Struggling through my pajamas in the dark, I hurried out of my room.As much as I wanted to reach whatever was happening do

FREDDYI turned sharply to the door, my body cold with a feeling I couldn't admit as fear. But Lola had dived off my body, swift, like she had been waiting for this moment. Then, she was at the door, but she didn't open it.She locked it.I watched her turn the lock intentionally, twice, the sound of the dead click jamming against my eardrum like dangerous music. My expression had relaxed, but my body was still half off the bed like I was struggling to make a decision on what to feel. The knock came again - louder, fiercer, threatening this time.I looked at Lola who was still standing by the door, her back against the fine wood like she didn't trust the lock to do its job.The knocking continued, repeatedly and patternless. I could hear a muffle, but I couldn't make out the message.Lola's eyes were sharp and dangerous as they met mine."What are you doing?" I mouthed, my eyes searching her face for a response even before she opened her mouth to reply. She lifted her body off the doo
