Lena’s pov The car ride to my house feels suffocating. Dante insisted that Ricardo and William drop me off. Ricardo sits in the passenger seat, eyes on the road like he isn’t watching me, while William hasn’t said a word since I got in. I just sit in the backseat with my luggage, staring out the window. After a while, we finally pull up at the Virelli manor. Everything about this house feels strange to me. When we reach the gates, they open immediately. The porch light is on. “Here you go, Miss Lena,” William says softly. I nod and get out. Ricardo follows me to the door with my bag. He sets it down on the stone steps. “Be safe,” he says. I nod, hesitating before I speak. “Take care of him.” “You can do that yourself. When you come back,” he says, with a sad expression on his face before he leaves.
