Faking It With The Hockey Alpha のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 11 - チャプター 20

LEAH's POV. "So what did the girl say?" Hazel's voice sucked me out of my thoughts. My eyes had been fixed on the cuts on my inner wrists as my mind kept replaying the incident over and over. The dark locker-room, the flash of silver eyes in the dark. The low growling—it all came back to me in haunting flashbacks. My mind pulsed with a hundred questions. I finally looked up at Hazel after we'd snuck out the back of Ashwood's local movie theater where we worked as cashiers. We usually clocked in for evening shifts after school at least three times a week. Since my dad didn't have a job besides his farm, I had to find a way to put food on our table and make ends meet. And Hazel, she just worked here for the free movie screenings and because I'd practically forced her to for company. She closed the door behind her and pulled out a joint from her jacket. I looked over my shoulder before leaning against the dumpster. It was a cold evening so I didn't protest. When she lit th

LEAH's POV."Leah," I turned around to walk away but Hardin grabbed my wrists. "Really?" I turned back to him with an eye roll. "We'll finish this conversation later?" I mimicked Veronica's sultry voice and Hardin ran his hand through his hair."I swear it's not what it looks like." He said. A scoff escaped from my lips. "Are you just going to say that every time or?" I asked."I asked you that day if there was something between you two, some unfinished business and you told me there was nothing. You told me I had nothing to worry about." I said and Hardin stretched out his arms."That's because you don't!" He raised his voice and a vein popped out the side of his neck. "So why are you sneaking around with her at a party?" I wasn't buying it. My blood boiled with a mix of anger and a very distinct emotion. Jealousy.Stepping out of the car seeing them in the corner like that, my heart sank in my chest. "Leah, I promise you there's nothing to worry about." Hardin stepped forward, and

LEAH's POV.I got home that night and immediately started searching for my mother's old journals. From her closet to the kitchen to the attic. When she'd died, my Dad had decided to throw out a couple of them but there was this particular one I kept. I climbed a chair, reaching into the top of the kitchen cabinet where I had hidden it and I brought it out. It was a book filled with supernatural mythology. Everything you could think of from werewolves to witches to dragons, was in there. I snuck back into my room and fell on my bed. My trembling hands flipped through the pages as I searched for God knew what. I just needed something. Something to prove that I wasn't crazy. The ambulance siren still echoed through my ears as the paramedics pulled up. Marcus's body was wheeled into the back while Hardin disappeared. The last I saw him, he was distraught and disheveled, holding onto his best friend's body."Stay with me, Marcus." His neck was filled with protruding veins and his eyes we

LEAH's POV. "I know I sound almost as crazy as my mother but you have to believe me, Hazel." I trailed behind her as she walked up the stairs. "Just hear me out for a second. I swear I have proof." My words came out in halting breaths and it wasn't until we got into her room that she shut her door and pinned me against the wall."I believe you, Leah." She said, her eyes locking into mine. And of everything I thought she'd say, including that I was a lunatic, I didn't expect those words from Hazel. But she reached underneath her bed and pulled out a book."This used to be my shit," She said. "I was obsessed with werewolves and mythology growing up." It was just like the book I had in my bag which I hefted out in that moment.Hazel crashed into her bed with a sigh and so did I."I don't understand, what do you know though?" She turned to me. Where do I even start?"For starters, I know it's a mountain lion that attacked Marcus in the forest tonight. I know because that same animal atta

HARDIN's POV.My hands clenched around the steering wheel as I bit down on my teeth. The Alpha's words kept replaying in my head. Everything he said about the impending war and the Hybrid. It all didn't make sense. Why was all of this happening now? Why after three years? Who was the Hybrid? A million questions raced through my mind as I stepped on the brakes. I was parked just next to the Ashwood University sign. I was just in time for Leah's exhibition but I couldn't bring myself to step out of the car. The voices in my head grew louder.Especially Veronica's."You think staying here protects her? It doesn't..." She had said, speaking about Leah. "It paints a target on her back. If you love her, you'll stay as far away from her as possible." I pushed a hard lump down my throat because deep down I knew she was right.I had a life separate from what Leah knew, a very dangerous life. I didn't want her getting caught up in the supernatural world, not especially because of me. I made th
