~~ VINCENT ~~ I heard her sigh over the phone, and my jaw clenched. She’d better be grateful I was letting her know my next move because I've had it up to here with her attitude. In all my 31 years of being on planet earth, no one has ever riled me up the way Fidelia Mills did. She was efficient, meticulous, smart, and almost a perfect assistant, safe for her constant anonymity that almost cost me some big business deals weeks ago. The investors for my project wanted to meet the person that drafted out the impressive proposal, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. She’d do a presentation and explain some of the highlighted details. But this woman…. She pushed me to the wall so much that I hated her. I hated the fact that her throaty voice, when she’s frustrated but trying to stay professional, turns me the fuck on. Like she could break her screen and grab my neck from her end, strangle me, and whisper sweet nothings to me in the form of a threat, but she was hold

~~ FIDELIA ~~What was I doing for fuck’s sake?I shut my eyes in silent embarrassment, slipping my finger out of my pants.“I’m okay. Just back away.”The person was obviously among the staff with the uniform and all.He distanced himself from me, his hands in the air.“You screamed so I thought something was wrong.” He revealed.I bit my lips in more embarrassment and only turned around when I felt he was gone.I could barely meet the eyes of the cashier as I quickly paid for my grocery and hurried out of the store.Geez, what the hell has gotten into me?I wasn’t the girl from five years ago. I wasn't the Fidelia who nicknamed herself FunSize and made money by touching herself for other men.I was Fidelia of now, who worked 5 to 6 part-time jobs to pay for my college tuition after my mom had a stroke and was hospitalized.I was Fidelia, who single-handedly paid my mom’s hospital bills and fought my way through college, keeping up with all-nighters and late-night shifts.FunSize was

Fidelia’s POV I expected a reaction. Hell, I prepared the entire 24 hours for it. But what I never saw coming was how his jaw clenched hard and the blazing anger in his eyes as he looked away from me. Fuck. He was angry. No. Furious. I shifted on my foot, feeling cold sweat in my pores as I stood rooted to a spot. “FunSize.” He let out a short, bitter laugh, running his thick, bony fingers through his brown hair and causing it to look a glorious mess. “I’m Fidelia now. Fidelia Mills. Your virtual assistant.” I introduced myself like it would erase my past. A past he already knew inside out. His face turned sober, almost icy cold, as he closed the distance between us. I had the urge to turn around and bolt, leaving this building and his entire world forever, but I forced myself to stay composed. “So it was really you last night. You were in the same city all along.” “You weren’t dead and didn't have amnesia. Didn't go to jail, didn't leave the country. You were in Chicago

~~FIDELIA~~I barely settled in when my laptop beeped with a notification. After freshening up, I collapsed into my seat, flipping my laptop open.I massaged my temple as his email stared right back at me on my bright screen.I leaned into my seat, letting out a sigh.I was mentally stressed, and now my arrogant boss hit me up with a warning email. He wants me to pick up his calls and reply his emails, which I've been avoiding for the past few hours.I needed this job. But I wish he didn’t have to be my boss.Brushing everything aside, I left my home office and walked over to my mom’s room to check on her.I stopped right at the door, leaning against the doorframe to watch the newly hired caregiver tuck my mom in bed.Mom had a hopeful smile as she chit-chatted with the caregiver, while the caregiver nodded at intervals with a bright smile to show she was listening.Maybe her daughter was doing a bad job.She seemed happier with a stranger.Do I make people unhappy? God, I was terribl

~~FIDELIA~~ *LAST WARNING, MISS MILLS: IF YOU IGNORE MY EMAILS OR AVOID IMPORTANT CALLS, THEN GET READY TO TENDER YOUR RESIGNATION LETTER BEFORE THE END OF TODAY.* Vincent’s warning glared back at me in block letters, and I visibly shuddered as I drew back from my laptop. I massaged my collarbones, anxiety filling me as I clicked on the attached file he sent with the email, and a final written warning has been issued against me with over 4 approved signatures. His text appeared at the bottom of the file; “I’m pretty sure you have your OnlyFans page to fall back on without your paycheck, but don't ruin other people’s lives by being so stubborn.” That was the last of it. It was really getting more serious than I thought. Though my chest twisted in displeasure at his mention of OnlyFans, I found myself punching the call button on my laptop. It barely rang a second before he picked up. “Finally, the ice queen decided to pick up. You’re insufferable. I hope you know that." “And
