Viola gazed at the landscape from the tower balcony. The young woman had never left that room. For as long as she could remember, she had remained confined within those four walls. One of her greatest desires was to go outside, to run, to feel the earth beneath her feet, to stroll through the gardens her mother described to her at the palace. She had never seen them; she almost did when she planned her escape one midnight but she was caught before she made it out.She longed to one day bathe and swim in a river, to ride a horse and gallop against the wind, to meet young people her own age, to attend dances, to make friends, and above all, to meet her father, whom she had never seen. She yearned with all her heart to leave that cold room and be free. And today, on her eighteenth birthday, the moment had finally arrived. She was going to be free for the first time.Patricia had kept the promise she had made to her husband. She had hidden her last daughter in the old tower of the palace

Viola's joy faltered. "What... why are you saying that to me? I have no recollection of the day I got my wolf, and I've never shown any sign of being a shifter ever since."Kiara nodded slowly. A mischievous smile appeared on her lips as she hugged her sister tightly."I'm sorry, V," she whispered against Viola's shoulder. Then she went stillViola felt the sudden tension in her sister's body. She tried to pull back to see her face, but Kiara's arms tightened around her."Kiara?"Kiara gasped and stumbled backward. Viola reached for her, but Kiara's hand shot up, pressing against her own chest. Her breath became quick and rushed. Her face was flushing, her skin darkening from her jawline upward like someone was pouring poison through her veins."Kiara, what's going on?"""V..." Kiara's voice cracked. "V, I can't..."Her eyes rolled back. The whites of her eyes showed red, with tiny vessels. Her mouth opened, and a sound came out that was part gasp, part scream, part choke."What's h

Viola's tears flowed freely as she shook her head, pleading with him."Please let me go. I don't want to bother you anymore. Just send me away from your pack. I did not and would never hurt my sister," she pleaded, looking at her father. The Alpha mind-linked his daughter, a wicked smile thinning his lips. "Of course you didn't hurt her. I put her up to it.""Do you hate me that much, father? Why? Because of my flaw or is there something else?" Viola replied. Before she could get a response, a man from the crowd shouted."We want to see her clearly, without the mask!"Soon, others began to join the request, exclaiming that they too wanted to see her face. Viola felt the chaos rising in her chest.Graham looked at her with disdain."Take off your mask," he ordered in an authoritarian voice."No!" cried Viola, her voice filled with panic.Without giving her time to react, her father forcefully ripped off her mask and threw it to the floor.Viola felt the cold air of the room touch her

Viola with no other option took the first step, and just then the dragon moved, preventing any attempt at escape. A knot formed in her stomach, and as she crossed the portal, her head began to spin. She closed her eyes, feeling the sound of the wind and the ocean waves disappear behind her. When she finally opened them, she found herself on a gigantic castle balcony, where the cold wind played with her hair and dress. The moon shone brightly, illuminating the entire place. "You did well, Viola," he said, releasing her from his grip. "Welcome to the kingdom of Nightmore." Viola looked around in astonishment, unable to process what was happening. She had just stepped through a circle into a kingdom far removed from Blue Moon. Instantly, another portal opened, and with it, Rosie and the dragon appeared. Rosie immediately looked at Lucian. "We must go to the throne room." "Come. Let me introduce you to the staff," Lucian said, ignoring Rosie. He opened another portal that led them s

"Forbidden by who? The king? Who is inside that dungeon and why would you chain a man like an animal, torture him like a slave? I demand his release right now and a proper trial." Rosie let out a wild chuckle. Her eyes mocking Viola's audacity. "Any order that comes from her lips will have exactly the same value as an order from me. Did you really believe that?" "Just stop the torture even if you wouldn't free him. His voice is distracting enough," Viola rolled her eyes. "You need to go back to your chamber until the night is over." Rosie grabbed Viola's arm but Viola shrugged her grip off. "Your king instructed that the wedding night can't wait. That is why I'm out here in the first place. Where is his chamber?" "The information I passed was that it could wait," Rosie said, but the painful wailing of the growling man overshadowed her voice. Relieved Viola walked back to her room. .
