Viola with no other option took the first step, and just then the dragon moved, preventing any attempt at escape. A knot formed in her stomach, and as she crossed the portal, her head began to spin. She closed her eyes, feeling the sound of the wind and the ocean waves disappear behind her. When she finally opened them, she found herself on a gigantic castle balcony, where the cold wind played with her hair and dress. The moon shone brightly, illuminating the entire place.

"You did well, Viola," he said, releasing her from his grip. "Welcome to the kingdom of Nightmore."

Viola looked around in astonishment, unable to process what was happening. She had just stepped through a circle into a kingdom far removed from Blue Moon.

Instantly, another portal opened, and with it, Rosie and the dragon appeared.

Rosie immediately looked at Lucian.

"We must go to the throne room."

"Come. Let me introduce you to the staff," Lucian said, ignoring Rosie. He opened another portal that led them straight to the castle entrance.

As Viola stepped through the door, she felt a knot in her stomach.

The main entrance doors stood wide open. On the stone steps, lined up in two rows, waited the household staff. There were older women in gray aprons, young girls, cooks, and gardeners. Not a single male.

"She will soon be the Queen of Nightmore," Lucian announced. He didn't raise his voice, but the echo of his words bounced off the high walls. "Queen Viola."

Both rows bowed their heads slightly at the same time. They were genuinely surprised. This was the first bride that had ever made it this far to be called the Lycan king's queen.

"From today on," Lucian continued, "any order that comes from her lips will have exactly the same value as an order from me. If I'm not here, she'll be the one making the decisions in the pack and in this household. She'll be respected, she'll be cared for, and anyone who thinks that's a problem can leave right now."

"Yes, your highness," they all replied in unison.

Viola froze. Her eyes felt red and her pulse was racing. In all her life, no one had ever introduced her like that. No one had ever demanded respect for her; on the contrary, she had always been the interchangeable piece, the one discarded by the family. The extra daughter.

And now, hearing that man impose his authority to protect her caused a suffocating lump in her throat.

It was even more surprising—the act the Lycan king was putting on. Suddenly being nice to her? To keep her tamed? Viola scoffed internally.

She would make sure he'd be begging her to get out of his pack by the next full moon.

Lucian must have noticed the stiffness in her body or the trembling of her shoulders. Without turning completely, he tilted his head toward her.

"Do you want to say something to them?" he asked, giving her space to decide.

Viola bit her lips. She felt the urge to run, but it was as if she were now controlled by an external force. Like the knowing gaze of Lucian had bewitched her to do exactly as he said.

"Hi... guys. Um, I mean, thank you," she managed to say, her voice barely a whisper. She'd become so shy and felt a little embarrassed at her awkward greeting.

She glanced up for a second, meeting the eyes of one of the older employees, then looked down again. "I hope we can all get along."

She forced a small smile, a nervous grimace that was meant to be friendly but only reflected how uncomfortable she was.

The atmosphere seemed to lighten suddenly. A couple of the young women in the front row exchanged a glance and smiled back, with a warmth Viola hadn't expected.

One of the housekeepers, a woman with a firm stride, gestured for her to follow. Viola walked briskly, the train of her dress trailing down the grand spiral staircase, eager to disappear from Lucian's sight.

Downstairs, as soon as the echo of their footsteps faded from the upper floor, the employees spoke in whispers.

"The rumors said something else..."

"People on the pack's forum were saying that she was an unbearable viper."

"They said she was an ugly duckling with eyes the same size as a wolf's."

"Did you look into her eyes?"

"I wouldn't dare. I don't plan to be cursed to death like she did her sister."

"She even thanked us. Was she planning to feed on us all later?"

The oldest employee in the house, a woman with a face etched with wrinkles who had seen five generations of the royal family come and go, interrupted the whispering with a stern look.

"Whatever her story is, I think that girl has cried more than she's going to admit. So make sure she feels at home here," old Madam Kathy said.

The others nodded and dispersed to their places.

Viola's room was at the end of the second-floor hallway. A young blonde handmaiden opened the door and stepped aside to let her in.Viola walked in, her eyes lifting with surprise. She didn't know where to look. The bedroom was huge. There were vases of fresh flowers, a bookcase full of books, a reading nook, a floor lamp, a sofa, and a desk. It was a dream bedroom of a librarian and book lover. But what took her breath away was the back corner. There was a wooden easel, blank canvases leaning against the wall, boxes of new oil paints, and brushes arranged by size. Right next to it, on a low table, rested a camera and a stack of empty photo albums. She approached slowly, ran her fingers along the edge of the canvas. Then she looked at the colors, the ones she had always wanted. She didn't understand how they got there. She thought it was a coincidence. That someone had tastefully decorated that corner without knowing that a woman who had wanted exactly that for years would arrive. It

A cold shiver ran through Viola's body upon hearing his name. Her eyes widened, and she took two steps back."Can I refuse this arrangement. I'm not ready for marriage" she exclaimed softly, feeling cornered.Lucian let out a soft, almost mocking laugh."I don't care about that," he said, approaching her with a malicious smile. "What would you do? Run back to your daddy?"Viola shook her head."That would be pointless," she replied. "I want nothing to do with you either. All my brothers died in your hands. Even if my father had forgotten, I wouldn't forget the letters the Lycans sent my mother and how you made her weep at night."He raised an eyebrow without giving her a response. As he observed the flow of water and the energy it carried with it, Viola thought it was a good time to try escaping. He was distracted and she could give her luck a chance. Without a second thought, Viola spun around and started running toward the ship's rail, determined to jump if necessary. But on her

Viola's tears flowed freely as she shook her head, pleading with him."Please let me go. I don't want to bother you anymore. Just send me away from your pack. I did not and would never hurt my sister," she pleaded, looking at her father. The Alpha mind-linked his daughter, a wicked smile thinning his lips. "Of course you didn't hurt her. I put her up to it.""Do you hate me that much, father? Why? Because of my flaw or is there something else?" Viola replied. Before she could get a response, a man from the crowd shouted."We want to see her clearly, without the mask!"Soon, others began to join the request, exclaiming that they too wanted to see her face. Viola felt the chaos rising in her chest.Graham looked at her with disdain."Take off your mask," he ordered in an authoritarian voice."No!" cried Viola, her voice filled with panic.Without giving her time to react, her father forcefully ripped off her mask and threw it to the floor.Viola felt the cold air of the room touch her

Night had fallen on the blue moon pack, and with the darkness came Viola's despair. She had been locked away for days. The guards watching over her room had received strict orders from her father: no one was allowed to enter. This feeling of isolation made her feel more vulnerable than ever. She heard the rattling on the door and paced closer to it, pressing her ear against it. Viola almost popped out of the room when the door opened, but a guard caught her early enough to shove her back in. His appearance was stern."Get ready," he ordered, his voice stern with the authority of his position. "The Alpha has given instructions, and if you don't obey, I will drag you to the hall by force. So I'll give you thirty minutes to get ready." With that, he turned and left the room."How is my sister? Is Kiara fine? Is she alive?" her voice quivered. "She's alive. Barely. If she wasn't, you would have been dead, Princess," the guard stretched the last word in a mocking tone. Viola felt trap

Viola's joy faltered. "What... why are you saying that to me? I have no recollection of the day I got my wolf, and I've never shown any sign of being a shifter ever since."Kiara nodded slowly. A mischievous smile appeared on her lips as she hugged her sister tightly."I'm sorry, V," she whispered against Viola's shoulder. Then she went stillViola felt the sudden tension in her sister's body. She tried to pull back to see her face, but Kiara's arms tightened around her."Kiara?"Kiara gasped and stumbled backward. Viola reached for her, but Kiara's hand shot up, pressing against her own chest. Her breath became quick and rushed. Her face was flushing, her skin darkening from her jawline upward like someone was pouring poison through her veins."Kiara, what's going on?"""V..." Kiara's voice cracked. "V, I can't..."Her eyes rolled back. The whites of her eyes showed red, with tiny vessels. Her mouth opened, and a sound came out that was part gasp, part scream, part choke."What's h
