Great read! Wish it was a little bit longer though. Will there be a sequel? Maybe their son Hunter?

This series seems to be missing book 4 (IV). I enjoyed the continuation of the story this group of assassin’s and the women friends in their lives. I didn’t like how Sophia’s character changed from her earlier book. I love that Maleah is being given a second chance at love.

Chapter 1: Is this the end or the beginning?
Maleah              Rushing out of the hotel’s party room, I stride purposely through the sand and make my way to a private corner of the beach. My cousin Sasha is having a beautiful baby boy, and my mom, my sister-in-law, and I flew down to Miami to celebrate her baby shower. Unfortunately, her happy day is also the day I have to deal with my family's questions. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I've had to hear a family member ask me when I’m going to get married and start a family of my own.              Reaching into my pocket, I pull out my phone and call one of my BFFs, Sophia. I’d call Sage, but she and her husband, Priest, are currently out of the country on business. Sophia’s soothing voice instantly reaches my ears. “Hey, Mal, shouldn’t you be oohing and aahing over baby cloth

Chapter 2: Bittersweet Regrets
Jaxon              I never expected to see her again, especially in such dire circumstances. Striding up the stairs, I lead Maleah to my bedroom and open the door. She looks so beautiful and sad that I have to tuck my hands into my pockets to keep from touching her. The woman has always been a temptation, and it’s even more blatant when she’s dressed like every man’s wet dream. I can’t take my eyes off her long legs, cut-off jeans, and a flimsy top that outlines her firm breasts.              I watch intently as she sets down her bag on the bed and sits at the edge. I might as well not exist by the way she’s ignoring my presence. Entranced, I watch as she slides her fingers through her lush hair. Her eyes are at half-mast as she checks the bandage on her knee.       &

Chapter 3: Broken things
Maleah              I love sexual dreams. Even if they’re not real, they feel so good. I love dreaming about being in a man’s arms. Sometimes I never want to wake up.              Moving closer, I keep my eyes closed and caress my hand up the hard ridges of a sculpted male stomach, then I stop. This is not a dream. And I’m pretty sure this is not Hunter.              Frowning with confusion, I make another sweep across the velvety skin and bite my bottom lip, realizing that I’m not in Hunter’s arms.      Hunter was wiry and fit, but he wasn’t this muscular. The body beneath my fingers feels familiar, though. Coming fully awake, I blink my eyes and glance up, catching a glimpse of beautiful velvety muscles. It&rsq

Chapter 4: Once shattered
Jaxon              Once the bathroom door closes behind Maleah, I lean my head against the wall and close my eyes. Fuck! I should have told her the truth. It was the right moment, and I couldn’t do it. All I could do was stand there frozen like a statue. Why does the thought of telling her what happened to me make my body break out in a cold sweat? It makes no sense.               After a minute, I open my eyes, take a couple of steadying breaths, and run my fingers through my hair. This is not the time to fall apart.              Once I’ve gotten my bearings, I make my way into the guest bedroom, take a quick shower, and slide into a charcoal suit. Thankfully, I keep clothes in all of my closets. You never know when you’ll need to

Chapter 5: Painful Truths
Maleah              I watch as Jaxon, and Val stride out the door, a feeling of jealousy barraging my very being. She’s gorgeous. The kind of woman Jaxon should be with, and I hate her. Scotty steps around me and heads to the kitchen. “I’m going to finish looking through these files. If you need me, I’ll be in the kitchen.”              Heathen waves him away and stretches out on the couch with his phone in his hand. The way he’s distracted by what is on his phone reminds me of how my teenaged nephew acts when he visits my mom. We’ll all be talking, and he’d have his nose buried in his phone. It drives my mom crazy.               I roll my eyes when Phantom slides forward in his seat and mutters in a flirty voice. &

Chapter 6: Redeemed and reclaimed
Jaxon              “Here’s the plan. We’re going to meet Carlos tonight. When I do, I’m going to show him the evidence Emanuel left in the thumb drive and ask him to help me set a trap for Victor.”              Maleah places her hand on her hip with interest. “How are you going to do that?” She curiously asks. Quirking a brow, I glance at her and the others. “Well, for starters, I’m going to let him be seen with you tonight.”              Her face pales with fear, which was not my intention. “No one is going to hurt you, Mal. I just want Victor and Rolando to hear that you were seen with Carlos Lara. Rolando will assume you’re there to report back to Carlos, and Victor will see it as his opportuni

Chapter 7: Spontaneous combustion
Maleah – Two years ago in Las VegasResting my palms against the grotto’s stone wall, I sigh with pleasure as Jaxon kisses his way down my naked back. Water drizzles down my body in heavy rivulets combining with my sweat. Arching my back, I close my eyes with a sigh and groan when he slides his hand between my legs and sifts his fingers through my folds. Jaxon’s teeth nip the skin between my shoulder blades and continue to kiss his way down my back until he reaches my firm ass.               “Raise your leg up, baby.” He whispers against my hipbone with a small bite. Raising my leg, I rest it on a nearby rock and cry out when his tongue licks my center. My clit swells with every swirl of the tip of his tongue, and my walls contract with pleasure. Looking back, I let my hair fall acros

Chapter 8: Best laid plans
Jaxon              Seeing Mal walk towards me in her beautiful wedding dress is something I never imagined possible after everything that happened two years ago. To know now that she is my wife is the ultimate rush. For two years, I have loved this woman. And even though we were together for a mere three months, I knew she was meant to be mine. It was an instant connection that grew stronger the longer we were together. As an assassin, I always knew my life would be cut short somehow. I never thought that a normal life would be in the cards for me. Yet, when I met Maleah, all of my doubts were put to rest. I had an epiphany the day we met. I saw what my life with someone I loved could be like, and I loved how it felt. I love how she makes me feel.              It pains me to have to leave her so soon after marrying her. But I made

Chapter 9: Harder the second time around
Maleah              Jaxon’s arms feel so good. I never want to let him go, but I have to. I savor the warmth of his chest against my cheek and his soft lips against my forehead as we both stand in the middle of Miami Airport’s terminal entrance.              Heathen and Phantom went to a nearby store to give us some privacy as we said goodbye. Scotty and Val hugged me goodbye this morning before they headed out to take care of business.              Jaxon and I spent the night making love and holding each other. Unfortunately, the night went too quickly.              “I’m scared of letting you go again. I’m going to miss you so much.” I whisper as I desperately

Chapter 10: Not quite yet
Jaxon              My body heats with rage as I make my way through Miami’s airport terminal. Val’s words ring in my ears with an ominous warning. Unfortunately, the past three weeks were not fruitful. We were unsuccessful in finding any trace of Carlos’ daughter. I have to give it to Carlos though, he’s determined to find her, and I can’t fault him. If it had been my daughter, I’d do the same. Thankfully, he understood that I had to go home to my wife. He was actually surprisingly pleasant considering the circumstances, so I left him with a few of my men and offered him accommodations until he found her. Colin stayed with him too. The former detective has become quite an asset in this mission. As a new Confradia recruit brought in by Micah “Savage” St. Clair, he has been invaluable.
