CHAPTER 1 BEINGS OF TWO WORLDS
Since unmemorable times, the ocean has been a place full of mysteries that mankind has always tried to understand. Mysteries that lie far beyond the surface of the water, where the sunlight does not shine anymore and no human being can go. One of these mysteries is about a strange creature whose mere existence has captivated thousands of people, but at the same time has been put on doubt, as the idea of a living being half human half fish seemed impossible. We are talking about the sirens. Just like humans, there were many different types of sirens: males and females who took pride in their fish tails of different shapes and colours; and among all of them, there was one that stood out the most, thanks to her beauty, pale skin, bright aquamarine tail and vibrant pink hair. Her name was Marina. Marina was a happy, joyful siren, with a great love for singing. In her free time, she loved to go and play with the animals of the ocean, and she was always willing to help tho

CHAPTER 2 THE FIRST ENCOUNTER
One clear morning, Marina was swimming in the outskirts of her community when a shoal of fish quickly swam towards her. The siren stopped her swimming and allowed the fish to get closer to her; she was worried that something bad was happening if the fishes were swimming so fast.“What is going on little friends?” Marina asked the fish. Although they could not speak in the same way they did, sirens could communicate with all the animals in the ocean, and thanks to this Marina was capable to understand the fish when they told her somebody was pushing their friends out to the surface. The girl followed the fish to the site where the captures were taking place, and once she arrived she was surprised with what she saw: a strange group of things similar to thin seaweed intertwined with each other created a type of barrier that captured the fish and pulled them up to a strange oval-shaped object floating in the water surface.Attracted by this peculiar obje

CHAPTER 3 THE ATTACK
It was a new day. Captain Anna woke up with the very first rays of sunlight and prepared herself for the day. She left her quarts and started to make a lot of noise to wake up her crew.“Wake up you lazy rats! Sun is shining and there is no time to lose!” Anna shouted in her attempt to wake her sailors. The fuss was so much that everybody on the ship started to get up, including Marina who was slightly disoriented due to the sudden ruckus.Marina started to look around her trying to understand why there was so much noise, but she could only see the bars of her cell. After doing her observation, she felt something weird happening with her body right in her lower half. She looked down to her tail and she was surprised with what she saw. The siren did not understand what was going on, but she was sure it was not normal. On the ship’s deck, Charlotte was joining the crew who were forming a circle around the captain. The shipmaster was making an eff

CHAPTER 4 THE MAN FROM LAND
When she woke up, Marina was confused. The last thing she remembered was arriving at a beach and hugging Charlotte, but her surroundings were different from the beach she had arrived. She was now on a room with walls colour light brown, and she was laying on something soft while covered with a white cloth. Marina took it off and she could see her tail was gone once again, replaced by human legs. Marina stood up from the bed after making a huge effort as she still did not know how to use her new legs, and once she was standing she started to walk with clumsy steps towards the door. She opened it and found herself in another room, with a table in the middle of it, a cylindrical object in a corner and a window from which she could see the ocean. Next to the table, a man was sitting while drinking something from a little recipient. Marina tried to get closer to him, but as she gave the first step the wooden floor creaked. The man heard this and turned around, and showed a small smile wh

CHAPTER 5 NEW FEELINGS
It has been a month since Marina and Charlotte were rescued by Ismael, and since then everything has been good for both the siren and the pirate: after seven days, Charlotte’s wounds healed completely, and she immediately tested her body to make sure it had no sequels. For her good luck, nor her strength nor agility were affected, and the last vestiges of her wounds were some recurrent headaches, for which she was drinking a herbal tea prepared by Ismael. Once Charlotte was recovered completely, she and Marina helped Ismael with his daily house chores. He taught them how to collect fruits and how to hunt, as those were his main activities to do for a living. He also taught them how to farm vegetables on the little crop he had on the backyard of his cabin. One day he took the girls to a small town far from the coast where he would sell a part of the food he collected to get money and buy some supplies he needed in the cabin.During that month, Marina never touched the water. CHAPTER 6 THE SHIP IN THE HORIZON
It was a new day. Marina and Charlotte went to take a walk on the beach while holding each other’s hands. It was the siren who suggested to do this, although she was not sure about why. The feeling of their hands intertwined made both girls feel happy, so they stayed silent the whole time enjoying each other’s company.“I will treasure this moment forever,” Marina said out of the blue, surprising Charlotte. After the conversation they had had on the previous day, the pirate girl got into a state of high emotional sensitivity, something she had never gone through before as she had always hidden her emotions when she was part of Captain Anna’s crew, and all to give the impression of being a fierce, aggressive and fearless woman. But now with Marina, there was no need to act, and being able to show off her emotions was something new for her. Still, her face expression was neutral. In the middle of the walk, Charlotte looked to the horizon and

CHAPTER 7 THE RETURN OF CAPTAIN ANNA
“Captain Anna… You are back…” Charlotte said trying to sound happy.“As alive as always, matey,” Anna answered while getting closer to Charlotte. “And I see you have been good as well,” the captain said once she was standing right in front of her shipmaster and offered a hand to help her to stand up.Charlotte took Anna’s hand and stood up, and once she was on her feet she hugged her captain. Anna started to feel uneasy with this sign of affection and exclaimed: “Shipmaster Charlotte, calm down!”“I beg your pardon, captain,” Charlotte said releasing Anna. “I have forgotten you do not like hugs.”“That is not important now,” Anna replied. “The important thing now is that you come back with me to my ship and we continue with our hunt for a siren.”By listening to this, Charlotte felt a mix of relief and worriedness, as those words mean

CHAPTER 8 FORCED CONFESSIONS
Marina slowly opened her eyes. Her head was pounding a lot. She tried to massage her temples to ease the pain but she could not move her hands. It was as if they were pinned to her body. Marina looked down and she could see she was wrapped with a thick rope that made her keep her hands pinned to her torso. She kept looking down and she could see her legs were chained to a ring bolted to the floor. Marina started remembering the day she was kidnapped: tied up in the very same way, but with a fishtail instead of legs. The sound of a grunt from the cell next to hers brought Marina out of her thoughts. She looked in that direction and she saw Ismael with his hands tied behind his back and his legs chained to the floor. “Ismael!” Marina exclaimed in a muffled scream. “Are you okay?” Ismael heard the girl but took him a while to figure out the direction where her voice came from. He had to make an effort to move his body and look for the girl, and after stru

CHAPTER 9 THE FINAL STAND
“Ismael!” the two girls exclaimed. “How is this possible?” Captain Anna asked surprised. “I am much more than you can imagine,” Ismael replied while standing using a spear he had on his hands for support. The ship gave another jolt, pulling everybody out of their surprise. “Get the cannons ready! This man has brought something with him to attack us!” Captain Anna ordered and her crew obeyed. Right before they could get in position, various giant tentacles emerged from the water and started attacking the pirates, and they tried to defend themselves using their sabres and some guns they had. In the middle of the chaos, Ismael threw his spear at the man holding Charlotte, hitting him in the chest. The girl took advantage of this and pulled herself off his hold. She immediately went with Ismael and he started to cut the ropes binding her. “Not bad, you little scum. But you forgot your friend the siren,” Anna said mockingly pointing at Marina. Ismael exten

CHAPTER 10 THE TRUTH BEHIND THE HUMAN MAN
It was late at night. Charlotte was laying on the bed with Marina and Ismael sitting on each side of it. Marina was holding Charlotte’s left hand while Ismael looked at them both. Even though Charlotte’s wounds were not as bad as the ones she had the first time they met, they were still bad enough to keep her unconscious for a long time. Ismael did his best to heal her, so the only thing he and Marina could do was waiting to see if their friend wakes up. Finally, after a long wait, Charlotte stirred up from her sleep and her eyes started to flutter… or at least what she had left for eyes fluttered. “Marina? Ismael?” Charlotte said looking at her friends confused. “Charlotte! Thanks to the seas that you are okay!” Marina exclaimed while hugging Charlotte. The human winced in pain at the contact, but did not say anything and hugged her friend back. “It is good to see you awake, Charlotte,” Ismael said out of the blue, getting the girls’ attention.
