The Oracle and the Dragon Prince

I have known I am an oracle for as long as I can remember. One of my first visions happened when I was only four years old. I couldn't bear to tell anyone what the vision was, because it was just too terrible, so I asked my mom for a notebook and crayons. She gave them to me, and I drew a picture of my vision. My dad, shot in the head with a silver bullet while on patrol. My mom slumped over her desk, at work, shot in the back of the head with a silver bullet and my baby brother crying in his little seat next to her. To say it scared the shit out of me is an understatement. I didn't want to leave my mother's side for a long time. Why silver bullets? I forgot to mention, I'm a werewolf.

But the visions kept coming. My parents didn't make much money, but it was enough to keep us fed and clothed in nice clothes. My dad was a warrior, and a really good one. My mom decided to get a job when I was five. She could take my baby brother to work with her, but I had school. They couldn't afford to pay a sitter, so another pack member volunteered to keep me, at no charge. He said he just wanted to help. It was okay for the first couple weeks. He gave me the creeps, but I just acted like I always did at school. Keep my head down and fade into the background. That seemed to work for a while. 

During this time, our Alpha found his mate. We had a Luna, and she was beautiful, and considerate and caring. She was also a badass special wolf. We all love her so much. When she came to us, I had invited her to my birthday party. When she found out that I had only two friends coming, she made it the best party ever. She had a "unicorn", that was actually a miniature horse with a horn on her head. But my six-year-old brain only saw a unicorn. She bought each of us princess dresses and we each had a princess photo shoot with the unicorn. That night was when I found out that I had a lot in common with my Luna and I loved her so much. My Luna is a direct descendent of the Moon Goddess. She did all that because she had been bullied in school just like me. She wanted to show the other kids that they aren't better than me. It worked. The bullying stopped, but my babysitter, was still a giving me the creeps. 

One day, he went nuts. He started throwing stuff all over his room in the pack house. Then he picked me up and punched me in the face and threw me across the room. I landed on a broken piece of furniture. He kept yelling stuff that didn't make sense to me. He turned his back to me, and I ran as fast as I could out of his room. I ran outside to my favorite spot, the garden. I sat just outside the door, on the ground, with my knees to my chest and my head down. Crying where I thought no one could see or hear me. 

Our Luna walked past the door to the garden and heard me crying. She asked me what's wrong and all I had to do was look at her. I had a black eye. She got really mad. I could tell she was mind linking someone, and it didn't take long for Alpha to come out. He took one look at my eye and asked if I was hurt anywhere else. I pointed to my ribs and my arm. He picked me up and took me to the hospital. They found out that my parents couldn't afford daycare, so I went to his room. We also found out that his mate had rejected him, and he had gone mad. Alpha banished him from the pack, and Luna offered to watch me for my mom. So, I started staying with her, and I loved it. Luna was such a sweet person. She always had sugar cookies and snacks. She also had all of my favorite princess movies on TV. 

I kept having visions all this time, and I was already on my eighth notebook. I was drawing another vision when my life changed forever. We had been in the living room watching another princess movie, when Luna told me that we need to hide. We went into her closet and hid behind her dresser with a blanket over us until Alpha came in. When Alpha asked my grandma to come up their suite, I knew my very first vision had come true. I even said, "My mommy and daddy are dead. Aren't they?" When Alpha told me that it was true, I knew that I had a big responsibility on my hands. 

My brother, Zeb, and I had moved in with my grandma, and we were happy. I kept having random visions. They weren't in any kind of order. Some were good, some were horrible, and some made no sense at all to my young brain. But I also found that I have a talent for decorating. It was a passion that I discovered just a few months after my parents were killed.

It started when Luna told me her sister's sixteenth birthday was coming up. I designed how I wanted her party to be decorated. The day before her birthday, I had asked my grandma to stack a huge cake for me. She did that and I sculpted and decorated it into a beautiful wolf, howling at a silver moon. On the morning of her birthday, I couldn't get anyone to help me hang decorations. Luna saw me crying, and she asked me to show her, the drawing. I showed it to her and she got Queen Winnie from the Witch Coven! I had already had visions of her teaching me how to use all my powers, so meeting her early was a definite plus. She helped me use my own magic to decorate the ballroom. I will never forget the feeling of pride when we showed it to Luna's sister, and she started crying! Best. Feeling. Ever.

Anyway, I'm nineteen now, and I just moved back to my pack after living with Queen Winnie for three years, to learn to use all of my powers and to organize my visions. I learned that I have the ability to see two generations into the future. I can look at you and tell you what your grandchildren will do with their lives. When we took all of my notebooks, organized the drawings, and really looked at them, we were able to clearly see that I cannot see my own future. The Moon Goddess told me that it was because she doesn't want me to be able to make decisions based on what I see as my future. She wants me to have as close to a normal life as I can have. While I appreciate that, I also hate it because I have no idea how my decisions effect my future. That just bugs me.

Because of my abilities, I always think about what every action I take will do to my future. I don't think I have ever done anything without thinking of my future. It's just the way my life is. My life revolves around the future. It makes it very hard to just live in the present. 

Queen Winnie and I talked a lot about my future mate and what that would look like. We talked about how most oracles never have a mate, because there just isn't anyone strong enough to deal with the challenges that come with it. You see, a pack is fiercely protective of three things: Their Luna, special wolves and oracles. All of these beings are extremely valuable to werewolves. We all work very hard to please our Luna. If she's a true Luna, she is selfless and caring. We would never want to do anything to make her feel bad. Special wolves are valuable because they have powers that help in battles. Oracles, well, we are able to tell our Alpha when an attack will come or what will happen with their pack. 

The only thing we are forbidden to tell other wolves is who their mate will be. We cannot mess with freewill. It really bugs my friends, but that's the way it is.
