Season 1 ended years ago, but The Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero still has me checking for a season two trailer. Has anyone heard an actual update on the anime adaptation?

Is there ever going to be an anime adaptation of a light novel? I haven’t seen any announcements about a second season of Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero in years. So until then, I can enjoy other adaptations that have already been completed. The ongoing Martial Dragon Emperor S2 is quite satisfying for action and progression in a fantasy setting. The story begins right after the main character returns in a dramatic fashion and immediately starts his relentless climb back to the top of the most ruthless martial arts world.

No second season for Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero has been announced. I will continue to update this page with news on the fate of the anime. Meanwhile, no news on a possible sequel has been posted on the usual news sites or fan-made hubs for the anime. The studio and the rights holders to the anime have said nothing about it.
For now, you can return to the original source of inspiration: the light novels or the accompanying manga. Check out other shows that offer a similar mix of fight scenes and hots-for. Your humble author remains optimistically hopeful that one day an unexpected announcement will surface, and he can once again experience the wild antics of the lovable characters of this story.

UPDATE mid-2024: no announcement for a second season of the 2012 anime “Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero” by any studio or distributor that I’m following. I’m not aware of any credible leaks for new episodes in the form of a second ‘cour’.
In my mind, I've listed out all the possible reasons for the lack of a second season. Those would be low sales of Blu-rays and DVDs when the anime first aired, strong streaming demand today, complicated rights and licensing issues, and the material of the original author possibly not lending itself to easily making a sequel. Sometimes cult favorites get made into more content for niche audiences, though. There are cases of people and studios crowdfunding new seasons or a movie of an anime, or having their rights to air purchased by another studio. Even though this anime would be a great sequel, though, it seems to be more of a tease that will never happen. So I just keep re-watching the episodes and re-reading the manga and light novels. They're a fun watch even without a second season of anime.

Wait, maybe we should ask if the light novels are even any good and therefore worth reading. I’d heard that even in translation, some of the volumes aren’t officially released and that searching out the original would be even more of a hassle. I imagine it would be a fair amount of trouble to read the source material if it doesn’t hold up anyway. Does anyone here actually read the light novels? Do they serve as a good continuation or do they too fizzle out? Perhaps that is the only answer to our “what happens next?” conundrum.

It was a really unique experience watching it weekly when it first came out. The discussions in the episode threads were half political science seminar, half waifu wars. That was hilarious and very enlightening. A second season would be great to get back that sense of community. We could discuss every policy decision and every character development in detail all over again. This social aspect of watching modern anime is a big part of its enjoyment. People make speculation about the series, make funny memes and even draw fan art. This all happens when the series is still active. Right now the series has a very quiet fandom mainly sustained by readers of the light novel series. Re-igniting that all would be very much appreciated. And that energy in itself can be enough to make a series successful. By staying engaged with the work and talking about it we keep the embers warm, hoping that one day the fire will be stoked again.

That the anime is adapted by Dojyomaru, author of the novel on which the show is based, likely means he has some sort of involvement with the project. His apparent satisfaction with the work in progress is your best indicator that all is well, and he hasn’t started publicly registering his disappointment at any developmental misstep that might scupper sequel plans.
That he seems to get along well with the adapter bodes well for the rest of Season 3. His positive responses likely will be timed to the release of a new volume of his latest light novel or so. When a light novel author is asked about the anime, they will sometimes comment on how they think it is going based on what he knows of the production schedule.
Try to follow the author’s blog or social media (if you can read Japanese). If he ever posts something like, “I’ve been so busy lately with anime meetings”, then that must be a subtle clue for us fans.

One of the worst feelings for an anime fan is being left in limbo after the sequel to their favorite show fails to materialize after years. My only hope is that the people deciding whether or not to continue a show will be reasonable and make a decision quickly. I’ve been “burned” before by assuming that shows would definitely continue for another season only to find out years later that they had in fact been cancelled. So, for now, I’ll try to keep my hopes up but remain cautious in my pessimism. If there is a continuation, then great! I can have a party for a while. But for now, at least we have a great first season.

For real though, I think the first season had perfect pacing for the amount of episodes they had. They never dragged something out to make it a longer episode. Hopefully for season 2, they make a solid story and it can be whatever number of episodes they feel it needs to be, even if that’s less than the first season. Quality over quantity. A solid, brilliant 8 episode season > a meandering 16 episode season.

Does anyone else remember how the first season of Ball Revue ended? And that post-credits scene with the ‘Next Story’ tease? That was over a year ago and since then the fandom has slowly but surely devolved into a group of people making up conspiracy boards.
I've also seen rumors that there might be a movie made to bridge the two main story arcs of The God of High School, but I haven't seen any real rumors (unsubstantiated by reliable sources) to back up those claims. I'm assuming the production is being lined up with the current side stories that are being published in the webtoon. The long, brutal pipeline from concept to completion of production is just going to have to wait, I suppose.
To put it in perspective, we found out about the first season in 2020 and then it dropped in 2023. Following the same pattern of 3 years for planning and actual production, we would only arrive at the new season by 2026.

If we were to create a second season of LVL UP!!, it would require assembling the whole team of director, writers, animators, and voice actors. Most of them have since moved on to other projects, so it would be difficult to get them all back on board. We would also need to negotiate with the production committee to get a budget that will ensure a return on investment. The first season may not have had the flashiest animation, but the art had a lot of detail to it. Until the production committee comes up with some numbers and we get the green light, it will remain to be seen if there will even be a second season. I remain cautiously hopeful.

There are a lot of subtle things to look out for in the show, and on a rewatch of the first season you notice lots of things that you hadn’t picked up on before. It would be great to have a second season to the show because it would make the rewatch of the first season even better as you would know where all the little gestures led. This is a series that would really benefit from a long form narrative as they have only just started to untangle the messy feelings of the four main characters. The real development of their feelings is yet to come, which is why the wait is so agonizing. I found the fantasy economics in this show to be really compelling. Watching Michio figure out the various ways to manipulate the market, purchasing a house, and even managing his finances was really enjoyable. A second season could explore so many more areas of this world. New cultures, new trade goods, new ways for politics to play out. Yes, the harem is part of the story, but so is the world-building, which is extremely rich. I would love to see Michio deal with a merchant guild trying to wrestle control of the various dungeons and their treasures from him. This would be a really smart show and could deal out some real tension and even some strategy to the various story arcs. Season two has the potential to be much better than a lot of people expect.

hopefully they will make an English dub for ‘Tokyo Revengers’ Season 4 in India. In my little world of TV series fans, English dubs are usually released first and then there is a delay for local language dubs to release, if the series does get to release in a particular geography. It all depends on big streaming services in India to commission local dubs for a big price and then release them for viewers.
I will keep an eye on the streaming channel’s main feed and social media accounts for updates on the show. Till then, I will go back and re-watch some of the intense scenes and relive them again with subtitles. But, yes, a local dub would be great to watch with friends over a weekend on streaming, for some binge watching fun!
