Check the author's Patreon. Sometimes smaller creators will release early or exclusive audio chapters there as a reward for subscribers. I haven't seen full audiobooks for 'Kingmakers' yet, but a few serial fiction writers I follow do that. Otherwise, it's a waiting game until there's an official release.

Honestly, I gave up and just read the ebooks. The series isn't huge enough for a professional studio to pick it up, and I've heard whispers that the author is trying to self-fund a production through Kickstarter or something similar. I'd keep an eye on her social media for announcements.

In the meantime, I use text-to-speech on my Kindle when I'm doing chores. It's not the same as a real audiobook with character voices, but it gets the job done. The robotic voice totally butchered some of the made-up magical terms, though.

I think? So you won't find it on the big platforms like Audible or Libro.fm. I found the author mentioned on her blog that audiobook rights are a whole separate thing and she's looking into it, but there's nothing official yet.

Your best bet for now might be user-generated content on YouTube. I stumbled across a few channels that do dramatic readings of some chapters, but the quality varies a ton and they sometimes get taken down. It's frustrating because the magic system in those books would sound so cool with a good narrator.

Does the Kingmakers series have an audiobook or ebook available to read?

I think the audiobook situation is complicated. Someone else mentioned reading it on Google Books but I've had trouble finding an official audio version myself. Kindle has the first book, 'Kingmakers' Wars', but the second book wasn't showing up for me when I checked last week. Some of these independent author series are released via subscription services or smaller publishing outfits. Might be worth checking Audible's search again or maybe Scribd? Either way, the digital version seems to be out there. Honestly, I ended up reading the ebook on my tablet.

Do books like Kingkiller Chronicles have audiobook versions?

audiobooks are my lifeline. The 'Kingkiller Chronicles' by Patrick Rothfuss absolutely has audiobook versions, and they’re narrated by the phenomenal Rupert Degas (for the UK version) and Nick Podehl (for the US version). Both bring Kvothe’s story to life in such a vivid way—Podehl’s youthful energy matches Kvothe’s character perfectly, while Degas adds a more mature, storytelling vibe. I’ve listened to both, and they each offer a unique experience. If you’re new to audiobooks, 'The Name of the Wind' is a great place to start. The lyrical prose of Rothfuss translates beautifully to audio, making the world of Temerant feel even more immersive. The pacing, the emotional depth, and even the music references—it all works so well in this format. Plus, hearing the dialogue spoken aloud adds another layer to characters like Kvothe, Auri, and Bast. If you love the series, the audiobooks are a must-try—they’re like rediscovering the story for the first time.
