I'd argue it deepens the satire of hero society. By taking the superhero tropes and applying them to utterly mundane school situations, it subtly comments on how absurd the whole system is, even more than the main series sometimes does.

My kid loves it. They can’t follow the complicated plot of the main series yet, but the colorful, funny pictures in 'Smash' are a hit.
