So, to preserve your enjoyment of the main story's surprises and emotional beats, keep them separate. Read 'Smash!!' vol 2 after you're at least past the Kamino Ward arc. That way, you have a deep bench of characters and moments for the parody to play with.

The publishing order is the safest bet. 'My Hero Academia Smash!' vol 2 was released in Japan when the main manga was in the middle of the School Trip arc. So if you're mirroring that experience, read it around that point. It captures the fandom's mood at that time.

Trying to find a 'correct' order for a gag spin-off misses the spirit of the thing. It's anarchic. It exists to break rules and be silly. By imposing a strict reading order, you're forcing structure onto something designed to be structureless. Let it be chaotic. Read it when the mood strikes. Maybe that's between main story arcs, maybe it's after you finish the whole thing. The only wrong way is to not read it at all because you're worried about getting the order 'wrong.' Volume 2 is too funny to miss over analysis paralysis.

Meh, I tried reading a bit of 'Smash!' and it wasn't my humor. Felt a bit too random and meme-y. I prefer the main series' tone. So maybe order doesn't matter if you end up not liking it anyway.

I see a lot of people saying to keep them separate, and I mostly agree. But consider this: reading a little 'Smash!!' after a particularly dark main story arc can be therapeutic. The main series gets intense. After the Paranormal Liberation War arc, I was emotionally drained. Reading a few chapters of 'Smash!!' vol 2 helped reset my mood. It reminded me why I love these characters, even when the plot is putting them through hell. So, while there's no narrative order, there can be an emotional pacing order. Use the gag manga as a pressure valve. That's a more personal and meaningful way to integrate it than any chronological chart.
