Has Juice Newton Angel Of The Morning Appeared In Film Or TV?

I get this question all the time from book clubs and it is always a resounding “no, but it should be.” The idea of a historian in a wheelchair trying to reconstruct the doomed marriage of his grandparents in the Old West while suffering in isolation in the 1970s is already made for a prestige miniseries. It would be wonderful to see the cast of characters as older and younger versions. The different time periods and the two vastly different settings (Old West frontier versus isolated 1970s academics) would provide wonderful scope for a great visual script. But the biggest obstacle to this would be framing the story within the story of historian Lyman. As it is, the reader is forced to realize how biased and inaccurate Lyman’s history is, and that would be the lazy way for an adapter to go for a period piece and lose the whole point of the book. Someone with real insight and sensitivity to the work would be required to translate it for the screen. Perhaps, for the best, no one has rushed to adapt this yet. But someone will get to it sooner or later and I hope to heaven they will do it justice.

Are your 6 AM wake-up calls tough? Well, “Good Morning America” anchors start setting up for their show by 3:30 AM and are rolling by 4:30 AM. That’s a lot of getting into makeup, going over notes, and then going live on television by 6:00 AM. For one week, I tried to mimic the sleep of the GMA anchors, but by week’s end, I was a walking, talking zombie. How do they do it for three hours a day? Morning TV is hard, y’all.

It’s really stuck around for so long, which is really impressive because most songs have a cultural lifespan of a few years before they date. I suppose it’s because the feeling the song conveys is timeless, but then again the production was always ahead of its time. That’s why in a new show set in the present day ‘Mr. Brightside’ still feels current and plays well. In contrast, most songs from around the time that ‘Mr. Brightside’ was written would sound odd playing in a show today and would stick out like a sore thumb.

I just finished reading ‘Death at Morning House’ – a superb mystery novel that hooked me from the start. It’s set in and around Morning House, a large and rather eerie house with a dark history, owned by the very wealthy and rather unpopular Mr. Holloway of the Holloway family. When he is found dead in rather strange circumstances, young and recently appointed detective Clara Reeves is sent for. And from the very first chapter, I was hooked. As Clara delves deeper into the mystery of the death of the patriarch of the Holloway family, she realises that nothing is as it seems. The house itself seems to be a character in the story and it has hidden passages and secret rooms, creaking floorboards and more than a few dark secrets. And as for the Holloway family, well it seems that each and every one of them is hiding secrets of their own. But are these secrets human or is Morning House really haunted by the spirits of the past? Throughout the novel Reeves uncovers the web of deceit, long-standing grudges and twisted relationships that exist within the Holloway family. The way in which the author creates claustrophobia as a raging storm hits is incredible. Reeves is left to deal with the family trapped inside the crumbling mansion and it makes for tense reading as Reeves makes mistakes along the way and we are led down many a red herring. In the end the author delivers a satisfying solution but it leaves you with the feeling that Morning House still holds many secrets and the author has done a great job of delivering a gothic style mystery that will appeal to fans of the style. A great read.

Dew in stories? That’s nature’s sticky note. The tiny, ephemeral stuff is full of meaning. I think kids’ books use dew a lot to show wonder – e.g. Wilbur’s web sparkling in the early morning sun in ‘Charlotte’s Web’. Horror stories on the other hand can make dew seem sinister, damp and frightening. This is all about perspective. A farmer might look at dew and see promise of future crops. A heartbroken hero might look at the same dew and see all his lost love disappearing before his eyes. Dew is magic because it can mean whatever you like it to mean without explanation.

There are so many small scenes which I remember, when I hear the song ‘We’ve Got Tonight’ in a movie: a declaration of love in a parking-lot, a slow dance through a kitchen, or two people finally confessing something to each other which they had been hiding for so long. The song has a compact and fine structure: from private to communal. I am very much aware, whether a scene is supported by the original version of ‘We’ve Got Tonight’ with all its gritty, nostalgic quality, or by a softer, jazzy cover version to add more vulnerability to the situation. In any case, it is a turning-point in the movie. And the best things are, when the music does all the talking, and the actors only are doing the admitting. The quiet honesty of these scenes stays with me longest.

First off, the cover art for this novel is simply delightful. I had an idea of what kind of story this would be, based on the artwork. Sweet, a little bit silly, with lots of steamy romance. This novel was exactly that, and so much more. The sex scenes in this novel were as warm and fun to read as the rest of the book. They were never trite or boring, and they had just the right amount of playfulness to them to keep things from getting too serious or hot. I loved this novel because it was so much fun to read. The author never took himself too seriously, but he did take his characters’ feelings very seriously, which was great.

‘Don’t Let Me Down’ is another amazing song for This Is Us. It makes me sad every time it appears, but in a great way. The song matches so perfectly with the episodes where the families deal with their complicated relationships and their hidden fears. Like a character in the show, the song is also very alive and not just a background song. It’s so powerful to watch their struggles when you have gotten to know their journey throughout the series. The song is a beautiful reminder of times in our own lives when we have turned to loved ones for support.

It’s interesting to note the amount of merchandise available for fans of the angel egg concept in a wide variety of formats. Often you can find plush toys of a soft, rounded egg shape or perhaps more elegant jewelry inspired by the angel egg. Recently I have come across some really cute items in online shops. Cozy blankets and cushions are also available, many of them printed with uplifting quotes or angel egg-inspired artwork. They make for a great way to create a comfortable abode and express your passion for the angel egg at the same time. And who wouldn’t want to snuggle up with something so sweet and whimsical?

This is a pleasantly, utterly uncompromising book. It is what it is and never attempts to be anything more. The romance hero is a big, gentle guy who is anxious and a little reserved, a nice contrast to his physical size. His dialog is rarely smooth or attractive but is instead awkward, sweet, and real. A connection focused story which just happens to be full of passion. A very comforting read that is refreshingly different from most other books.
