How Old Is Jane From The Twilight Volturi?

I'm trying to place her timeline within the original Twilight books, because her ageless, immortal vampire state is so confusing. Was she ever given a concrete physical age or just an approximate era?

Jane is a guard member for the Volturi created in the early 1300s. That would make her around 700 years old when the Twilight story takes place. The idea of an extremely powerful, very old immortal, who looks young, is a concept used in many other stories as well. For example, ‘In Love With A Vampire’ uses this concept with a modern day protagonist who discovers her mysterious next door neighbor is a centuries old vampire living amongst humans, secretively. Jane and this character would have an interesting, and slightly tensed, relationship as they try to uncover each other’s hidden pasts whilst trying to avoid exposure to human society.

The film adaptation of Jane from the 'Twilight' Volturi is eerily accurate. It has been estimated that she was turned in the 13th century, during the time of the European witch trials. So by the time the 'Twilight' saga had taken place, Jane would have been approximately 700 years old. However, as a vampire who was turned as a child, she is forever stuck in her childhood state. The rest of the Volturi have such an intriguing and rich background. How can millions of years of immortality be reconciled with seemingly permanent, corporeal forms?

Another thing that stands out with Jane is the contrast between her childlike physical form and her large amount of power as a vampire. She is feared by almost all of the other vampires because she is capable of causing enormous amounts of pain with her mind. Her childlike form makes her seem much younger than she actually is. In many ways, Jane is a symbol of how long the Volturi have been ruling the vampires. Her age is a large part of the Volturi’s eerie, timeless quality.

It’s sort of fun to note that Jane was made a vampire in the early 1300s, so she is essentially an ancient, powerful and evil creature – but she is stuck in the body of a little girl. Immortal children in the ‘Twilight’ series are sort of creepy, and Jane is no exception. As for her being part of the Volturi, her making a child vampire (as a witch to be burned at the stake with her twin brother, Alec) was against the rules of the Volturi. After 700 years, she is still servingly Aro, Caius and Marcus in the attempts todestroy humanity.

This also explains why Jane is so devoted to the Volturi. It’s been 700 years since she and her twin brother, Alec, were burned at the stake as witches. All this time since she’s been serving the three oldest vampires, Aro, Caius, and Marcus. One would think that after 700 years she would have grown to detest the Volturi, but instead she holds a lot of hatred towards humanity. I think this is just one more example in the Twilight universe that age is not equal to wisdom or good. She just has more time to be bad!

This bit of information is fascinating to those that are fans of the Twilight Series by author Stephenie Meyer. Jane was transformed in the 1300s, so during the Twilight series she was 700+ years old. Yet she was transformed as a young child, therefore she is forever stuck in that form of a child. Jane’s form is that of an immortal that has never grown. She is forever young, yet incredibly old and cold. Her ruthless nature was honed over the centuries serving the powerful Volturi. But Jane is particularly cruel and nasty, which has obviously taken her a long time to perfect. It is this contrast of Jane’s youthful appearance against her very old and very wise mind that makes her such an intriguing character.

The ages of the Twilight characters are never explicitly stated, but Jane is technically around 700 years old or so. However, for reasons unknown, she has remained a child for most of her long existence. Her ancient and intelligent mind is trapped in a 12 year old’s body, creating an intensely creepy character. We are given her tragic past of being burned at the stake as a witch and later turned, but right now she is just a very unpleasant person.

I love how Jane’s age contrasts with her ability. She is one of the youngest looking vampires in the series but at the same time one of the most feared at causing pain. The books do not really explore her age but we know from the timeline that she was turned in the early 1300s. That would be enough to drive anyone crazy and it is evident in her actions. Her age is not just a number it is a big part of what makes her so feared and terrifying.

How old is vampire Damon Salvatore in human years?

This guy is older than the entire United States. He was centuries old when the Declaration of Independence was signed. I wonder if he was here for the Revolution – probably not, he’d have been back in Europe. The show really missed out on exploring this guy’s historical perspective on America, past the founding of Mystic Falls. There’s so much narrative potential in this old, old guy and the show only slightly tapped into it.

How does The Strange Case of Jane O end?

4 Answers2026-03-06
The ending of The Strange Case of Jane O. is intentionally left unresolved. Jane is brought back to life but has no memory of her alternate reality experiences. The evidence from her time away is contradictory and none of the professionals involved are able to give her any closure to the mystery of what happened to her. It is strongly hinted that Jane has found herself in an alternate reality to her own where a pandemic occurred and many people died but interestingly enough none of the people who died in her reality are alive in her own world. I really enjoyed this book because it leaves the reader with an uncomfortable feeling but this is an area that the author has explored well. A mystery has not been solved but rather the fragility of memory, grief and identity has been explored in detail. I found this book to be very unsettling but in a good way.

What is the order of the Twilight books?

3 Answers2025-09-12
The Twilight series should be read in this order: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn. I devoured these all in a single rainy weekend. As a whole, they’re incredibly melodramatic but in a way that is rather enjoyable. Twilight introduces us to Edward and Bella’s relationship, New Moon develops the intense meltdrama of that, Eclipse raises the stakes even more, and Breaking Dawn is a complete and utter fantasy. Many people have complained about Meyer’s writing style, but it’s had a massive cultural impact. The ending in particular is extremely memorable – love it or hate it.

How old is four from divergent at the start of Divergent?

5 Answers2025-08-30
Most fanfiction commits this one error: Four is written up as an early twenties character to avoid the ‘teen instructor’ problem, but aging Four up substantially changes the character. The youth of Part Four is part of his tragedy: a child soldier promoted to the role of drill sergeant for Tris. Four is trying to protect Tris from the worst of Dauntless while being a product of it himself—and struggling to figure out how to do that as he grows up. By keeping Four at the canon age of 18, you can better preserve the tragic irony that he is trying his best to protect Tris from the worst of Dauntless while being a product of it himself. He is still learning how to be this Drill Sergeant/Leader/Protector figure and as such has a very different and more painful approach to things than an older character would.

Where can I read the Jane Rayan novel by Hayat online?

6 Answers2026-05-09
You search online to read a story, such as “Jane Rayan”, and after a long search you finally find it on an aggregator website with a horrible layout. So you end up ruinig a great story for the sake of a bad website. Instead you could use a text-to-speech tool to have your computer or phone read it out to you while you do something else to avoid eye strain. Most devices have screen readers built in these days. At first it sounds a bit weird but you can get used to it quite quickly, and actually it can be quite good for novel-length work which doesn’t have a lot of deep description and is more plot-driven. I have been known to ‘read’ (in that I listen to the chapters being read to me) quite a few of the fan-translated novels out there while I’m making dinner, or walking, for example. It can make what otherwise might be a very frustrating search online into something that you can be doing at the same time as something else.

In season 1 how old is jamie in outlander on the TV show?

8 Answers2026-01-23
A 23-year-old man? Yeah, that’s pretty wild. He’s been through Black Jack Randall’s worst, got disowned by his father, has been living as an outlaw, and is carrying the weight of his family’s political destruction. But yeah, that all happened before this story even began. Listing all of that out is pretty brutal. The show does an incredible job of making you feel all of that weight on Jamie, despite him being so young. There’s one particular scene where he’s shaving himself in front of a mirror and for a moment you see a man trying to reconcile the boy he once was with the man he is becoming as a leader. This also gives new insight into Jamie’s relationship with Claire. While she can give Jamie a new perspective on things, it’s mostly his encounters with her that help him to grow up in ways that aren’t related to war and survival. In terms of his relationships with others, he’s spent 23 years of his life learning to fight and to obey. Claire helps him to find a way to communicate and to trust in a completely new way for him. This is the heart of the first season for me.

What is the average length of each book in the Twilight Seri?

4 Answers2026-07-24
Typically published in editions of around 600 pages each, the books in the Twilight series get progressively longer as the series progresses. The longest of the series is Breaking Dawn, while the shortest is Twilight. An average page count for a YA fantasy series aims to be long enough to be completely immersive for the reader, but not so long that it will bore younger readers.

How does Carlisle's power work in Twilight?

4 Answers2025-09-29
Carlisle in 'Twilight' is so cool because his power to heal people with one touch makes him so much different from the rest of the vampires in the Twilight series. The fact that he uses his powers to save lives as opposed to taking them in order to kill makes him all the more unusual in this very gothic world of vampires. The way that Carlisle uses his power to heal others in the Twilight series is really amazing. His character conveys a sense of wisdom and regret which is relatable. Most characters in the Twilight universe want to destroy, whereas Carlisle wants to heal and protect from that destruction. He is a light in a dark world, and his character is so interesting because he embodies both action and compassion.

What happens to Charlie Swan in Breaking Dawn?

3 Answers2026-07-02
Here Charlie is portrayed slightly differently than the clueless dad in the previous films. In “Breaking Dawn” Charlie is given the story by the Cullens that Bella is suffering from a “delicate condition” and Charlie wants to believe her. We see a poignant moment where Charlie sort of realizes something is amiss but chooses to ignore it. His interactions with Renesmee are also very sweet. He treats her with the same sort of love that he would to any grandchild. It’s an interesting way to end Charlie’s character in the films. Charlie has always been the emotional center of the films and that holds true in this one as well.
