Weird question, but have you checked out the audiobook on YouTube for this novel? There are actually a lot of channels on YouTube that do this for web novels, by making an audiobook with text-to-speech software and even adding a slideshow of the text. I know it doesn’t exactly sound good, but I actually really enjoy listening to these as audiobooks for web novels, because they’re free and you can search for the title of the novel and then “audiobook” or “full story”. It’s a good way to listen to a long novel while doing chores or something, because you don’t have to actually sit down and read the whole thing, and you get the full plot.

I want to explore the negative side of a bond. The loss of privacy and space, the overpowering of emotions. Not all stories treat the magical connection between two people as a positive thing. Some of them can be very ‘horror story-ish’ for a while and then change to something more positive. Right now I am trying to understand how Ellie can feel Brad’s anger and pain, or how her feelings are mirroring or even magnifying when she is feeling upset herself. It is like a loss of boundaries, a loss of fundamental individuality.
It’s actually really sweet once they learn to create their own emotional boundaries within their unbounded connection. I was worried that the story would just be another “grumpy Alpha meets sunny human” but instead it’s a really nuanced and thoughtful exploration of how two people can have a healthy relationship despite the fact that the magical constraint that brought them together is inherently unhealthy.

Beats me! Like I said, I stick to quality stuff that’s been published on Audible these days. It’s better quality control and I don’t have to worry about links not working or whether the author ever finishes the story. Searching for free online serials just got too crazy for me. But hey, that’s just me!

I got this book from my friend, who assured me it was complete. It's not. The cliffhanger at the end of this book is quite brutal, and I haven't forgiven my friend for lending this to me. So, no, this is not a standalone book. It's a special kind of literary frustration.

I’ve been looking for ‘Alpha’s Shadow’ ever since a friend mentioned it. It might be a webcomic hosted on Lezhin or Tappytoon since it seems to contain quite mature themes. You can also search NovelUpdates for text-based versions and see if they’re translated, and if they’re licensed.
Other paranormal fanmade works I’ve looked into can often be found on Discord servers for such fiction, hosted on Google Drive or other forums for the work. (Of course, if it’s a webwork behind a legit site’s paywall, support the creator on their Patreon, or purchase chapters of the completed work — but oh, half the fun is searching for it anyway!).

I stumbled upon 'Marked Twice by the Alpha King' while browsing through some online platforms dedicated to werewolf romance novels. It’s one of those hidden gems that’s gained a cult following among fans of the genre. You can usually find it on sites like Wattpad or Inkitt, where indie authors upload their work. I remember reading it in one sitting because the tension between the protagonists was just that addictive. The author’s style reminds me of early Kindle Unlimited werewolf romances, but with a fresh twist on the fated mates trope.
If you’re into physical copies, some print-on-demand services might have it, though it’s harder to track down. I’d recommend checking the author’s social media—sometimes they announce special releases or collaborations with smaller publishers. The community around these stories is super supportive, so joining a Facebook group or Discord server for werewolf romance lovers could also lead you to a legit copy.

Webtoon (comic & manga) and Tapas have very good dark modes built right into their apps. They are best known for their comic & manga, but also have a very large section of web novel, all read with vertically scrolling text. The apps are designed for long sessions of reading, so the dark themes are very integrated and comfortable to read with.
Both Webtoon and Tapas offer free-to-read content, some of which is even available with no ads at all. While many of the stories are comics or manga, there is also a large collection of ‘web novels’ which are free to read online. They are usually written to be read in vertical, one handed, sequences of text, perfect for late night reading on your mobile.

I have seen so many memes about this book, I might just have to read it to see for myself what all the hype is about.

Because this is a Radish story, my free reading experience is going to be somewhat fragmented. You can read the first batch of chapters immediately and then hit a paywall after that. You can then either buy coins to read more or wait 24 hours to get a free “key” to read one more chapter. I haven’t been able to find this book on any of the reputable free ebook sites (such as Project Gutenberg) or on library apps for your phone or tablet (such as Libby). There are aggregator blogs that post lists of “free novels” but these are generally spammy and contain links to download “free” novels that will fill your device with malware. It’s really frustrating but, in order to read this, you have to play along with the Radish system. Essentially it’s a free premiere of a serialized TV show and then you have to subscribe to keep watching.

Ooh, this title is so visually descriptive that I can imagine the plot unfold before my very eyes - especially the pivotal scene of the biting. Was it done in anger? Passion? Protection? The 'first' makes one wonder if there's going to be a 'second' - perhaps the author will depict the childhood sweetheart's desperate attempt to re-gain what he perceives to be lost. A complex, messy love triangle/ graph of emotions awaits, with so much potential for pain and heartache. However, the author would have to be extremely talented to successfully depict a rejected party who is NOT a villain, but rather, a tragic figure. Most would read a story like this for simple wish-fulfillment, but the author's skill would be to make the reader care for all 3 parties involved.
