نوشتارِ داستان نه فقط درباره‌ی بقا، بلکه دربارهٔ دو چیز بزرگ‌تر هم هست: ارتباط و هویت. ربات یاد می‌گیرد زبان را از حیوانات و طبیعت بیاموزد، روابطی بسازد و حتی نقشِ مادری را برای یک جوجهٔ تنها — که نامش Brightbill است — به عهده بگیرد. این بخشِ داستان برایم همیشه تأثیرگذار بوده، چون نشان می‌دهد که احساسات، مراقبت و تعلق لزوماً ریشه در زیست‌شناسی ندارند؛ می‌توانی یک ماشین باشی و البته «خانواده» بسازی.

وقتی برای اولین‌بار دنبال اطلاعات پخش 'The Wild Robot' گشتم، دیدم که خیلی‌ها هم سؤال مشابه داشتند. کتاب 'The Wild Robot' نوشته پیتر براون در سال ۲۰۱۶ منتشر شد و داستان رُز، رباتی که روی یک جزیره رها می‌شود و با حیات وحش ارتباط برقرار می‌کند، برای خواننده‌ها خیلی زود دوست‌داشتنی شد. اما اگر دنبال این هستید که بدانید انیمیشنِ رسمیِ سینماییِ اقتباسی کی و کجا اکران شده، باید بگویم خبر خوشی نیست: تا اواسط ۲۰۲۴ هیچ اکران سینمایی رسمی و گسترده‌ای از یک انیمیشنِ اقتباسی وجود نداشته.

با این حال، خبرها و گزارش‌هایی درباره گزینه‌خریدِ حق اقتباس و علاقهٔ چند استودیو منتشر شده بود؛ یعنی ایدهٔ ساخت اقتباس همیشه روی میز بوده و هواداران گاه‌وبیگاه تیترهایی درباره توسعهٔ پروژه دیدند، اما هیچ تاریخ اکران قطعی و نمایشی در سینما یا شبکهٔ بزرگ پخش‌کننده اعلام نشد. به‌عنوان کسی که عاشق ترکیبِ طبیعت و ربات‌هاست، دلم می‌خواهد یک اقتباس متفکرانه و با تمرکز روی احساساتِ رُز ببینم—امیدوارم اگر ساخته شود، ارزش انتظار را داشته باشد.

واقعیت این است که تا امروز هیچ اقتباس انیمیشنی سینمایی یا سریالی رسمی و گسترده‌ای از 'The Wild Robot' منتشر نشده که یک فهرست صدابازیگران «رسمی» داشته باشد.

از نگاه خودم، این وضعیت هم بد نیست — یعنی جای زیادی برای خیال‌پردازی و سرمایه‌گذاریِ طرفداران وجود دارد. همیشه دلم می‌خواهد کسی با صدای آرام و گرم برای «رز» انتخاب شود، و برای شخصیت‌های جانوری صدای طبیعی‌تر و بافت‌دار مناسب است. امیدوارم روزی یک اقتباس عالی ببینیم؛ تا آن زمان می‌تونم ساعت‌ها برای انتخاب صداها رو خوش‌خلقی کنم.

خیلی‌ها ممکن است فکر کنند 'The Wild Robot' یک سریال کارتونی مشهور هم دارد، اما من وقتی دنبال نسخهٔ تصویری‌اش گشتم دیدم که هیچ سریال رسمی یا فصل و قسمت تلویزیونی‌ای براساس این کتاب‌ها تولید نشده. 'The Wild Robot' در اصل رمانی تصویری از پیتر براون است و دنباله‌اش 'The Wild Robot Escapes' هم منتشر شده؛ بنابراین به جای فصل و قسمت باید دنبال کتاب‌ها بگردید.

من خودم که عاشق کتاب‌های تصویری‌ام، همیشه امیدوار بوده‌ام ببینم این داستان تبدیل به انیمیشن شود، چون ترکیب طبیعت، روبوت و احساسات انسانی خیلی مناسب سریال کودکانه و خانوادگی است. در فضای اینترنت هم انیمیشن‌های کوتاه طرفداری و ویدیوهای روایت وجود دارد که طرفداران ساخته‌اند—اگر دنبال تجربهٔ تصویری هستید می‌شود آن‌ها را دید، اما باز هم آن‌ها رسمی نیستند و نمرهٔ آثار رسمی را ندارند. به نظرم خواندن کتاب و گوش دادن به نسخهٔ صوتی بهترین راه برای لذت بردن از این داستان است؛ صدای تصویرپردازی پیتر براون خیلی زنده است و به راحتی می‌توانید با ژلیا، روبوت، همراه شوید. من بعد از خواندن همیشه دلم می‌خواست یک فصل کامل کارتونی از زندگی او روی جزیره ببینم، اما فعلاً باید با صفحات کتاب خوش باشم.
