XCXX is a subgenre term I've never read before and thus have no knowledge of what kind of music it refers to. Maybe it's some kind of slang or tag that's exclusively used by a specific group of users on a particular website. But XCXX could describe the type of music that's highly energetic with a raw, wild sound. For that type of music, I sort of draw a parallel with the aforementioned web novel P…rnstation. The story follows a young man who works at a sexual entertainment production company in an adult film. His normally mundane and monotonous work becomes a ceaseless and volatile performance full of unique and intense sensory stimuli, and the author perfectly conveys that to the reader.

XCXX? That’s the really obnoxious (to me) electronic music that my roommate plays really loud at 3AM when I’m trying to sleep. I know that this sort of stuff doesn’t get featured in the latest TikTok challenges, but it has a sort of cult/underground following. I see a lot of fans attend shows at DIY venues, even going to the point of creating a mosh pit to really get into the glitchy beats. As for what an MV can be, it’s really up to the artist. Usually, we get a straight up performance video. Sometimes there’s even a full story behind it. And then there’s the abstract stuff – everything from a crying polar bear to a futuristic, isolated world where a woman rails against her environment. As a hybrid of musician and director, an MV can be pretty much whatever. My current obsession with music videos currently centers around how artists are incorporating AR (Augmented Reality) into their work, including the amazing MV for aespa’s Next Level, where human avatars coexist with their digital counterparts in actual real life spaces.
